Keen to give it a go but will the 'free' player very disadvantaged?

I love a good MMO but sceptically I won't part with my hard earned $$ until Its a game that I enjoy enough to pay and that I believe deserves it.

Anyway, I'm really keen to give Archeage ago but don't wanna be disadvantaged by being a lowly free player. Will I still be able to get gliders/ land etc if I'm free2play?

If I do like it and decent to purchase/ subscribe will there be any land left?

Thanks!

No one can give you that answer, just do what you are thinking doing:

Start on september 16th as a F2P, test the game, explore, see the diferences from P2P and F2P, watch from back what hapened to the land and comunity, and then take the decision to go P2P or not.

You will get a glider around lvl 10. I believe their is another one later on, both from quests. Free players wont be able to own land, which relegates them to using a public farm or illegal farm, and without owning land you wont be able to build a home.

That being said I had fun with the game as a free player, more so than my other games which I am subbed to, I wont be playing them for a while.

I'm interested in being an illegal farmer, using hard to find places to plant tree's for logging.

As I understand there will be an item available on the Auction House that is tradable among players, with which you can buy Patron time, similar to the plex in Eve.

Unlike the Plex in Eve Ive read they aren't as costly, I assume that will change in a player driven economy, we will see.

If your patron time runs out, you lose your house and land, and don't get them back, or that is what I read.

Edit: yeah you will prolly have to wait till the 16th to download

Unless something change in last patchs and i ddint see it, you only lose the spot and the mats used to build. The plan of house and the farm will back to your inventory.

I had fun questing into the mid-teens during beta weekend 3 and could see some of the sandboxey potential the game would have later on, but I did reach a point where I was occasionally frustrated by the very low labor point regeneration -- an issue that I think would largely disappear as a $15/month patron. One other big thing free players won't have access to right away is the auction house...paying at least one month as a patron unlocks it forever, though, and I believe they added an Auction House Access Ticket to the cash shop. The cool thing is that there isn't any up front cost to purchase the game, so if you like it, you can jump right into the sub and have 4 months or so before reaching the cost of buy-to-play games like GW2 and TSW.
