Gone many years - is EQ2 now a browser based game?

Hello, I have been gone several years from EQ2.  I have tried unsuccessfully to locate my old account and character without luck so I started a new character in the "Play Free" option.  this appears to be browser based.  Is the old game still in effect where it can be downloaded and played?

EQ II is still going and has a lot of content in it. EQNext is not really an EQ title per se, so if you want the feel of EQ the original and EQ II are what you have for the foreseeable future.

EQII has an expansion coming out soon I believe, and I think they even went back to the old multi-stat system so the game has more complexity again as far as itemization is concerned.

Im installing to game again. I left game with many expansions behind and my necromancer is level 90. If i sub to game do i still need to buy any expansion after level 90 zones? I think i need to buy latest expansion in beta phase called "Altar of Malice". What about previous expansion packs? Any info appretiaced..

if you buy the latest expansion, you will have access to all content except Age of Discovery
