Avoid this game like the plague - It's Fraud.

omgthisnamesuxomgthisnamesux Member UncommonPosts: 16

Fact:  If you invest any money in this game to buy a pack.. or points.. or whatever, and you are unable to access the game for technical reasons or reasons on the Trion world side (they are plagued by MANY MANY ACCOUNT AND TECHNICAL ISSUES) - they are refusing to refund any money.

To anyone who is considering playing this game - I highly suggest you avoid it completely.  Whereas the core features within the game are interesting and enticing, bad management and readiness have resulted in a catastrophic launch.  Taking into account that the core of this game is Resource/Land Control and PvP - Trion implemented buggy code and bad readiness operations which basically through the entire game out of whack at day 1:

Example 1:

Archeum Pack purchasers were to receive "6 Daru Chests" as part of their purchase.  These chests basically contained consumable items (potions etc..) that would help someone just starting out.  They also could contain a Gilda, which is a rare currency used to purchase Houses and other items core to the games purpose.

On day 1, due to horrible back-end systems, a number of Archeum Pack owners did not recieve any Daru chests at all.  This in itself is not a big deal, getting potions or Gilda late... doesn't impact anything.  However, on the flip side of this, a great number of Archeum Members recieved multiples upon multiples of duped Daru Chests.  Essentially starting the game.. at level 1... day 1.. with 50-100 Gilda, and instantly being able to purchase some of the largest House/Farm areas on the map.

Example 2:

In a game where the sole purpose is basically Resource/Land Control and PvP - the early days are the most important.  Staking your claim in a secure area close to trading lines, plays a pivotal part in the future of your gameplay.  Ignoring the exploit of Daru chests called out above, and the impact that had on these land areas...

Some people who paid $150 for early access had their accounts flagged incorrectly by Trion.  As such, they were put in the "general" queue and not even able to access the game for the first 1-2 days.  As a result, by the time they did get into the game all of the key spots were already taken - severely impacting the future of their character and gameplay.

However, beyond Example 1 and Example 2 above is the sheer fact that the developers could care less, and those who were not impacted by any bugs or took part in the exploits are so greedy that they are fighting against all the people who were impacted and telling the developers to ignore them.   Developer ignorance, and Community selfishness will kill this game, it will be a ghost town within 1-2 months.

Fraud was the first part... example 1 and 2 were just issues.

Advertising an offering, taking money, not delivering on that offering and refusing to give money back = fraud.

I got a refund, though stated by them as a "one time curtesy".

Yet another new game launch newb :)

This is same thing that happen since every second generation mmos, once they became popular. It surprised me that people are even surprised about this anymore. Its normal, to be expected event.

"Trion Worlds does not ensure continuous or error-free access, use, or availability of any game content, feature, gameplay, or server and may change, modify, disable, suspend, or remove any such content, feature, gameplay, or server at its sole discretion."

No fraud going on anywhere. If you bought any pack...this comes right off the page. They basically tell you there is a chance of issues, and to purchase at your own risk. So how exactly is this fraud?

I stopped reading at Example #1, that's pretty horrible & reminds me of a few other games that I've played before.

It's unfortunate but MMORPGs are becoming less about good gameplay, and more about having ridiculous hype at launch so that their entire project is funded on day 1 & then some. Of course for that to work it has to be B2P,  not F2P, this is one reason I really support F2P games when I like them, it's not about hype, it's more about addicting/fun gameplay.

Some examples recently of overhyped pieces of garbage would be SWTOR, ESO & Wildstar, and even though it wasn't hyped too much, Defiance, and I'll be expecting this game will be another one to add to that list.

I personally played the beta and couldn't get into it, it had a lot of cool features, just wasn't my type of game.

Edit: And I know that it isn't B2P, I was just pointing out recent releases that flopped.

When all is said and done, more is always said than done.

not sure about fraud but it certainly is a mess ,i was into this game enough early on to buy a archeum founders but after the patch what changed a few key things in game i was less intrested so stopped playing alpha/beta,then i get email saying my email had been changed and i couldnt access my acount, this was 1 week ago,i set off a acount revovery with trion and not heard a peep from them, with all this mess with early access i have all but given up on trion sorting my acount out at all neverminf in time for release.

think im done with mmo games tbh,im and older gamer and just cant be arsed with all this stuff anymore plus the games are simply not fun anymore. but be carefull when talking fraud with mmo comanies its simply just nieve and ineptitude mostly on there part.

I think people are having issues understanding what flop means in mmo gaming.

If you compared it to wow, thats a singularity on the market so you cant compare to it.

If game pays for its development and earns extra money during first 1-3 months its a success in today's very competitive yet not very innovative market. All of the games you mentioned earned their share and then some.

Games that floped are games that most of you didint even hear about. Tabula Rasa, Matrix Online, Sims Online and many more. Those where fails of epic proportions.

There where many mmos that did pay for themselves but where quickly forgotten. Warhammer Online anyone for example ?

In my opinion AA will do just fine, especially because its using hybrid f2p model, and because there is no competition on the market for it.

AA is simply a fantasy based EvE Online from asian market (to put it very bluntly)

There where many Fantasy Sandbox Games but all of them dont really had real economy and even if you are free to do whatever you want as long as there is no motivation for doing it (economy cough...) then it will fail in long term.

If i would point out any major issues for the game is that its multiserver and not one megaserver like eve online, but this is resource and technology issue that we wont see solved for non space mmo for a VERY VERY long time.

Yay, new game launched and forums go crazy because of standard launch issues...

Your unreasonable expectations do not make Trion fraudulent.

Warhammer online - this was so funny. That game was proclaimed like the ultimate wow killer. It was literally supposed to destroy WoW or this is what it was hyped up for. The game failed so bad, most people quite after a month haha. For a AAA game it failed so quickly I couldn't even get to try it :D

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

About example one, you have to know that only FIRST character gets the daru chests. If you created a faction char and decided, after five minutes of play, that you wanted to play the different faction, deleting first character would made the daru chests disappear, ever.

Example two was fixed before second day starts, at least for me. On second day Trion also increased the capacity of each server and closely monitored the performance of each server. It would even be irrelevant. I mean, have you seen how many people that are "strategically" hoarding the lands and consume lots of LP just for the tax? That means they couldn't do anything else. On top of that, if a release isn't crowded, or people are not trying hard since the beginning (unlike TESO, Wildstar, etc), I wouldn't even consider the launch a succeed.

Thirdly, Trion isn't the developer. Trion is only the publisher and XL is the developer in Korea. XL has been doing all the localization (i.e. soften the game up) for the western market and as for publishing, Trion has been doing a great job, maybe except too less server. Despite all the negative opinions, such like this, it is very admirable for Trion to open up as this many servers for the headstart as it did. It's not the old time anymore, where on WoW's release, Blizzard could open up that many server at once. With more choices (games on market) opened up to the consumers (gamers), it's very risky to invest all your eggs in one basket, especially the basket has been attacked numerous times that the basket is a bad one.

Fun fact: did you know that BC lasted three years in China, when WotLK overdued for two years? Good job XL.

    I don't really believe that's "fraud"

wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain.

The more i read these pots the more i wonder if people live under rocks..Even single player games have problems on launch day.

When you pre-ordered you should have known  from other MMOs launches that these problems can happen.

Given its F2p there is very little reason NOT to at least try it out some... So avoiding it completely doesnt make sense.

so you are aware that mmos never release in good condition, still go on and spend over a hundred for an alpha state game that you already now it wont launch in good condition because its an mmo, the launch of the game flops (as it has happened with most mmos) and now you want a refund?

Sir..... you had it coming. You arent entitled to a refund because you decided to ignore the bigger problem and paid for alpha.

    My opinion, of course.

Yep...they are leaving so fast that there is still a pretty long Queue to get into game. Servers are full and most house/land plots are gone. But according to you...it's dead before it's begun.

Having no issues logging in .Played over 10hrs already . $50 spent and only used up some of the 3000 credits to

    expand bagspace.

Game isn't fraud at all , if you are paying for a service like a cellphone and you can't get reception do you call that fraud too?

  • JinxysJinxys Member UncommonPosts: 488
I can't see how it is fraud. Only issue I have encountered so far are the long queues. Which is not uncommon. Secondly I was sent the wrong founders pack by mistake. No use crying over spilled milk. However once i am in game I've been having a GREAT time. Joined up with a guild and doing some trade runs etc. I can't see any fraud here sorry

Never will understand why poor service is expected as "normal". If you went to a restaunat on its opening night and the service was poor and the food was bad when they brought you the check would you think to yourself that this is the first night and I should expected everything about the experince to be poor. Just pay the bill, don't complain, just be happy to be here....this is all normal?

nahh, I'll wait for things to calm down, the idiots to get out, and play the game like its supposed to be played, by then Trion will have things stable.
