Thoughts from people who played launch...

So heres my thoughts... I bought the game last second.  I like the game, its an old skool clunky feel.  But it essentially feels like Lineage 2 gameplay wise.   But it offers alot of little features for fun.

The quest system is only bad because of the credit for tagging and small quest areas.  Its very easy to level at the moment.  But when high ups start ganking lowbies... might be a diff story as the areas are so tiny.   If it had been public questing, would have been amazing, like Warhammer was.

I love the Trial system, its just fun.

I am having fun playing the game... our guild ganked some packs that were on transit on a clipper (a ship) ... the packs sank to the ocean floor and another guild showed up and stole some too...  lots of deaths and fun.

You gotta protect your lands (If you have any), Illegal farms! haha

The first day of launch was perfect... the 2nd day was ruined for about 6-8 hours, came back around dinner time EST.    The 3rd day has been fine as far as I know... I THOUGHT THE LAUNCH WENT FINE... Just day 2 was bad.

I got error 2028... for 2 hours... other than the servers were pefect day 1.

Day 2:  Horrible day time EST

Day 3: Fine

Day 4: Fine

Future outlook...

I bet this game could have survived F2p and p2w... with the old labour system.  The current system is very labour intensive, anyone who was not in the 4 day head start will not have land... people have scooped up the land fast by buying and using labour points... and not going to bed... 24+ hours.   It was fun to listen to the lowbie battles for land on teamspeak.   it literally was a race between guilds.

So the people who complained about people with no lives crowd... well when you combine P2W and  playtime... well you've unleashed a beast!

The labour points is what I think will ruin the game.   Theres alot of nickel and diming... I question my purchase in the end.  But Ive had fun.  Ill just keep playing and see what happens.

I was going to stay away, but a friend said he was really enjoying it.   It is fun at low levels... but endgame is probably all about the farms... more labour = better stuff.

I still have alot of playing left to do, level 38 at the moment.

    Here's my thoughts:

    1) People are lazy

    - There's still land available everywhere. I play on Kyrios which is the most populated NA server with the long queues. Most nights I go around the farm areas in zones looking for unprotected crops to steal, there is land available in every zone. People just don't look for it and rather just run to the forums to cry about no land.

    2) P2W isnt winning right now

    - People who came into launch with a plan were able to secure lots of lands for themselves and their guild mates. You can't pay for a 16x16, you can buy the mats on the AH but you still have to deliver the trade runs. All the people with large amounts of land are players with a lot of time. All the people at 50 are players with a lot of time.  The best gear is from the higher dungeons because none of the crafters are anywhere near Illustrious weapons yet.

Paying ain't winning right now in any fashion. It may be helping people catch up but the no lifers are winning the race.

    3) The lag/disconnects are to be expected

    - Haven't played in a flawless launch yet.

I will agree with your third point that no game has ever launched without problems on the first day, no major title at least. With that said, trion promised a particular set of time before official launch to individuals that paid upfront which I believe is one of the core issues. How they will compensate for this, no idea, hopefully credits or something but in the future hopefully they start 7 days or so to anticipate problems like this in the future if they ever get to sign another major project. To me the betas were just rushed and it just look like a fast cash grab before WoW hits in a couple of months. But this will hopefully put some more thought into the people's heads before rushing to buy something that hasn't even been completed yet.

Thats weird, the little time I did get to play between the constant crashes that resulted in over 10 hours in the queue was devoid of finding any land. I searched 5 seperate zones. square by square. DIdnt find a thing, spent most of the time I did get to play trying to find land. Id say I invested 6 hours all together searching every last nook and cranny of each of the first 5 zones. And in all that time of walking around with my scarecrow out to see if I could find land, I found nothing.

The game is pretty fun so far, when you are not sitting in a 2 hour 45 minute queue. Got home from work and jumped in queue while I made dinner, got done dinner and was able to play for about 25 minutes before the game and glyph just decided to close on me. Now sitting in que again, this time 1 hour and 17 minutes.

Was not going to play the game because it was launching F2P, seen how they had it set up and decided to give a try because it looks like you pretty much need a sub to play, lol F2Pers :P

level 38... I have quested and done each zone normally.

I have been trying to replace gear, but the quest gear arent giving me upgrades (rarely)... the food and water I had.... have finally run out... my health potions are gone... tons of mana potions...

I am guessing I can buy supplies off the cashshop... as I cant buy any off the auction house... lol.       I CAN! haha... another red flag.  Supply crates off the cashshop give food/pots  go figure.

Launch was rough, thanks to the DDOS attacks, but since then...things have been smooth as silk for me.

I'm really enjoying playing AA and expect to play it daily for years to come.

I've been in several game launches over the years and it's always hectic at first.

Within a few months AA will quickly settle down, mature and evolve...that's when the real fun will begin.

AA is not a quick satisfaction kinda game...it's a game designed for people who want to settle in and play for a long time...build a little virtual world for themselves....at least, that's what it is for me, and I think it will deliver.
