And how is that any different than in an MMO's?  Are People you run into in the gameworld constantly talking to you over voice chat? Hell, even in text chat?
No! Most social interaction happens in groups and in guild chat.

I agree, they can improve it and should be highest priority! I really want to see the 3-man limitation removed in Exploration mode.

The storytelling is a large step backwards from what Bungie accomplished with the Halo series. Considering the instancing during missions, I'm not sure why they had to sacrifice such storytelling power. Peter Dinklage's Ghost role is nowhere near the quality of Jen Taylor's Cortana. Not sure if Pete half-assed it or wasn't really given the entire picture with which to work.

Ghost is more like a male version of ELI in Mass Effect 3. And while he was annoying at first, he is now kind of growing on me atm. It's an AI, not a hot chick of digital flesh and blood.

I was expecting a lot more tactical options with the powers and such, but I don't see them. Boss battles even lack any kind of staging, just 3-4 simplistic one-shot kill attack ppatterns and bullet sponging.

Have you completely maxed out both sub class skill trees? The skill trees are quite deep, with a lot of customization possible to suit your prefered playstyle.

This takes a hell lot of time and I highly doubt many have accomplished this already, except some hardcore gamers.

I agree the boss Battles could be improved, tho they really aren't all that different than say in Mass Effect. Especially in ME3 most bosses were just Dodge, Dodge, Dodge (or kill adds)... wait for weakness window to open. Fire!  Rince and repeat until dead.

Some bosses in Destiny actually have that. So they are actually staged.

I think, if they just tune down the HP pool of these bosses a little, it will already be good improvement.

I have done two Strikes so far and enjoyed them both really. The boss Battles are very intense. You constantly have to be on the move, make good use of cover and take out enemy Waves while at the same time avoid the Heavy fire of the boss and try find an efficient way of taking him down too.

This makes the boss fights very hectic and intense and I actually kinda like it.

I think the biggest issue is actually that most do the strikes in PuG mode, don't work together and then it can indeed take a long time to take down the boss, with some wipes thrown in. Which is actually not much different than other MMO's.

I only had one expectation for this game, and that was to be a solid PvE shooter. There are a few things that bug me like no communication during strikes, but c'mon we all know the horrible things people say online and the sounds that come from them. I was a bit surprised that during the story missions that there was hardly any cut scenes, all I knew was something was sucking the life force out of the traveler. Besides all that I enjoy this game with friends or strangers I'll defiinitely be playing this atleast a couple hours a day for a while.

Nothing can live up to the hype it generated for itself. Remember Wildstar?

for 500 million development I would of expected much more than what was delivered. The game is ok, but no more

I think you should do a quick waltz through Vault of Glass; then come back and tell us about those simplistic attack patterns .....

The content released at the weekend plus the content released today means the game is already bigger than it was a week ago. More announced as well.

Nor did it cost $500M - according to Activision. What they said - in a brilliant piece of marketing - is that they had budgeted to spend $500M. Some on servers, some on marketing, some on paying Bungie, the actual developers. In such deals - usually - there will be some sort of performance clause so that the more it sells the more they will pay - although this won't increase Bungie's spend of course.

Pretty much a huge fail. Such a boring and bland shooter. It has no soul. I guess if people are new to shooters then they will like it.

If the Vault bosses are much deeper then the campaign bosses, that's great.

But why wait til then to implement? Why not create such amazing boss content throughout? It just seems, as I said before, the release vox was the basis for, but not the fleshed out, a great new IP. I think it could've used extra development time to flesh out that content, to create a more interactive story. Those things are preventing Destiny from achieving the 9s and 10s from many reviewers. And since, at least imitally, Bungie's contract with Activision contained a bonus clause should the game have averaged a 9 or 10, that it would've been extra development cash well-spent.

Same problems had by Defiance and I expect the same result with Destiny that they saw there.

MMORPG.com needs some staff that actually play console games.

the game is a lot of fun but the hype was ridiculously high, so no, it doesnt live up to the hype IMO. But i am sitll enjoying every minute of it.

With that said, i seriously hope they add a lot more content soon because the lack of content to do after finishing the short main campaign is astonishing. And i dont mean new skins or whatever, i mean new maps, expanded story, new modes, new classes and of course new weapons, skills, and tools.

This is basically just a "loot grind" type shooter. Where the MMO part comes from I am not really sure.

I was excited for it till open beta. I feel bungie failed on what they hyped and promised. The game has absolutely no longetivity ATM. Raids? Yay?...Great if you've got 10 peeps or however many that own the game.

I went in not knowing anything about the game beyond the fact that it was essentially Warframe minus the ninjas. I'm happy enough with it right now, gives me something to do for the next few months at least.

It was no brilliant piece of marketing. It were the journalists and gamers alike that skewed Activision´s statement and turned it into something it wasn´t. Everywhere you see press and players saying they spend $500 million on Development. Shoddy journalism at its finest!

They spend $140 million on Development of Destiny (which is actually $60 million less than what was spend on CoD:WM2). That´s the actual Budget Bungie got from Activision two and half years ago!

The $500 million that was announced earlier this year, is a new Budget to be used as Investment into the entire Destiny franchise for coming 10 years!

I give this game a 4/10.   I learned my lesson about purchasing the digital versions on the PS4.  Had I'd bought this with a physical copy, I could at least trade it in on something half assed decent to play.  I want my time and money back.

I haven't been this disappointed since gw2 decided expansions should be replaced by fixing sign posts. It has the same bullet sponge bosses but an even worse story. Oh well. At least Destiny released a companion app. I'm still waiting for gw2.

Remind me again who was part of the Destiny project?   oh right, Blizzard and Bungie,  aren't those the guys that made WoW and Halo?   Unless I'm stupid or oblivious, they made the best franchises in gaming history and their games are still going strong.     So yeah, Destiny will be talked about for a decade or  two.

To the point about Destiny being a MMO or not, who cares?  It's the best game released since probably Skyrim.  And yea, no good MMO's were released since Skyrim up to Destiny's release.  We've had some mediocre to decent releases, but nothing spectacular,  and *sigh* ArcheAge is poo.

Been playing Destiny at a friends house, and I ended up buying the PS4 Destiny bundle pack and a new 40" LCD TV, best  investment in my last 10 years of gaming.   Haven't played console games since the SNES.  So about 15-16 years, and here I am with a PS4, Destiny is a pretty damn good game for it brought me out of my PC gaming habits to return in to consoles.

The next big PC game remaining to be released this year is Gauntlet,  if I'm not mistaken releases next Tuesday.  Besides that, I see nothing good coming out for PC, perhaps maybe some more Star Citizen stretch goals, those are always fun, right?

It's funny how PC's grow more powerful year after year, but the PC games being released, especially MMO's end up being trash, let's hope 2015 will be a good year for PC gaming.

What's good about it? Other than the high production value and the class skills- every single other feature is lacking.

The story is finished in a few hours, and literally says they could tell you more, but they won't. Such good writing!

The races make no difference in your characters, there's no trading. They mentioned so many more zones pre-launch, like Old Chicago, and all we're left is 4 zones. And when I want to even see what the other zones look like, I have to spend 6 seconds getting to that screen and another 60 wobbling above earth before I zoom back out. There's no map even! It's a shitty FPS, a hollow MMORPG, and a poor RPG. And who thought 3 players was a good party size?

But of course, we have DLC coming out! Why bother releasing a complete, even after sinking in the financial equivalent of half of Europe and all of Africa into development? No,we can charge them for it.
