We see Darkfall the other contender for the same type of player base not a huge success for the masses, but for that niche crowd as well.
F2P will keep this game busy, but me personally in the long run, I don't see this game being very successful for every type of gamer
I agree. I love the game, but it isn't for the masses. It is too full on and not drop in and play. It doesn't treat every equally, you have to earn your spot in the scheme of things. It requires doing the thing the game wants you to do sometimes, not maybe what you want to do. It involves social co-operation, not solo isolation.
Saying that though, for the right type of player it's awesome.
With all the good land being tied up, apparently even on the new servers, what incentive as a new player do I have to become a subscriber at this time? From what I understand, it'll be weeks before the land situation starts to free up. Is this incorrect?
Thanks!
The land is not all tied up. There is always some spots..people are just to lazy to take the time to look for it. And alot will free up in the comming weeks. I've seen so many people bragging they have 3 or more houses across all the servers, sometimes all on the one server. Well keeping them all up and maintaining them will be a full time job. So within the next few weeks alot will empty out.
There is plenty of other things to do in the meantime. You could just work your way up the levels. Gather resources, buy a house and have it all ready for placement. If you are going to wait untill land frees up to do all this. By the time you are ready, it will be all gone again.

Did anyone not realize that in in a game where land was 100% power ...the first three hours was do or die ? If you had any intention of playing this game and any experience in any of the beta's wouldn't a person realize that this of all games demanded a full throttle start
Then how the heck do you attract future customers? Do you just rely on your starting player base til the end of time?
Too true. IMO, this will cause the game to fizzle out and die sooner rather than later. I wouldn't play this F2P, but there doesn't seem to be any compelling reason to play it sub now, either. Meh, I guess you never know what you're missing if you've never played it.

Totally understand.
To sub as a new player for patron status now would be a waste <imo>. If you were going to take the game seriously though, buying a founder pack was the way to go into this game and taking advantage of the headstart.
Unless your main goal in this game is to treat it like a themepark and get to level 50 and play it because it's the new shiny, especially a f2p shiny, but I wouldn't get my hopes up if your trying to enjoy this game for a PvE experience.
I believe when EQN arrives, that will be the game to go to if your looking for a better PvE experience in your mmorpgs with housing, crafting and farming. Now let's see if SOE can get the housing done differently than AA version of planting houses in certain locations with restrictions.
To this day and to me, Star Wars Galaxies (PreCU) still had the best housing / crafting / mining system with a TEF PvP system. Nobody was forced to PvP and if you just wanted to sit on your arse and watch players go at it with each it other. so be it. You can drop a house almost anywhere in the world and run as a mayor. I still remember players taking prime spots, especially near the Krayt Dragon graveyard to farm for pearls.
plenty of land. The server they opened Monday has a lot of room left. The one they opened yesterday is 75% open even prime spots still left. Rumor is 1 NA and 2 Euro servers opening today. SO even more land. Even if they dont there is more than enough land for people now.

Yes, Archeage is "closed to new players" because all the land is gone !
As long as all the current subscribers continue paying and playing, the status quo will remain the same. Unless Trion add new servers...
As with all MMO's, people come and go. Those that go free-up land space for those that will arrive in future. So there will be no problem at all, unless Archeage becomes so incredibly popular that the players NEVER leave !
Easiest way to be F2P with farming is to join a guild that will share access or play with friends - one of whom is a patron - and become a family member. Failing either of those two options, F2P players have access to all the public farms, and there's at least one in every zone.
After reading all the BS on these boards I told myself I wouldnt go Patron.
But Lo and Behold, I made a character on a new server and my wait times have never been beyond an hour. There is land for grab all over the place, and I'm just level 12 so there you have it, plenty of land in newbie areas. I've also never crashed. Overall, very smooth and enjoyable experience for me so far. Much better than some of the fools on these boards would have you believe.
So I became a Patron. And for some reason it hasn't reflected on my account, but I haven't been charged yet either. And I just read on their forums that I should be fixed when I login tonight. The game is worth $15/month IMO, plus, I really need the LP.
