Nice try everyone but you really need to learn how to read. It's an essential skill for forums you know.

Yeah I can't believe people missed these. Getting booted in queue is the worst especially if you've been waiting for 10 hours.

It really doesn't matter if you are a patron or not.  The fact is Trion knows how many Alpha/Beta/Patron packs where sold BEFORE launch and they didn't even have enough server space for them let alone the F2Ps.  This is a big mistake by Trion.  Don't even say well in 1, 2, 3 months there will be empty servers if Trion had more servers now.  Sure people will leave, happens with every  game but the servers will not be totally dead in 3 months, maybe in 9-12 months.

Also don't go there saying well they would have to merge servers if they had to many after launch.  You already know that sometime in the future that is going to happen because population will one day drop to low to justify the server numbers, so either they have more servers now reducing/eliminating queues and worrying about a merge 6-12 months out or lose people now and still worry about it 9-12 months from now.

Again, Trion knew how many pre-orders they had and they did not make sure there was even enough space for those people let alone any new patrons or f2p people.  Bad management from Trion.

    yes this.

Trion fcked up hard with numbers of patron accounts... if they started with more servers @ headstart... it will be much easier for everyone..

there are losing shitton of players.. people that bought 150 dollars paks didn't even had a chance  to play the headstart

    What a fcking mess..

Thank god i can have the queue up on a second monitor while playing a good game (ffxi) on the main.

PS: I do have patron status for some odd reason, probably a mistake by Trion, not complaining but judging by this patrons don't get queue priority.

You really waited 6h+ to play a video game.. especially this one???  WHY?

I still can't figure out what the draw to this game is.

The standard PvE part of the game is just as mindless as every other Asian MMO.  Bounce from area to area to area fighting these whopping TWO mob types that endlessly spawn in the exact same place with ZERO AI.  Wow, how challenging and creative!

I don't even read the quest dialogs because it has ZERO bearing on the game nor is it of any interest.  It's like a child wrote these "quests".

MMO coders are the laziest programmers on the planet.  You don't even need an algorithm, let alone an AI, to code mobs this dumb.  All you need is a script that a 12 year old can write.

How about herds?  How about mobs calling for help/reinforcements or working together to defeat you?  How about wandering/traveling monsters?  How about mobs that take over certain areas of the game/capture towns/attack towns?  I could list 20 other ideas easily.

What is it exactly that makes you want to play such a boring, spoon-fed, ez-mode MMO?  They basically hold your hand while playing and why?  The combat isn't even challenging in the least.

I don't get it.  People who didn't get to play real MMO's like UO, AC, EQ and so on, really missed out.

There's NO DANGER anymore.  No reward or excitement exploring.  It's just a linear path from point A to B to C.  Wow.  Fun.

This launch is terrible... 4000 spot queues?  Servers too pricey for them or something?

As i said multiple times, i am playing other games, mostly FFXI while the queue sits on the other monitor just for shits and giggles. I have no idea what i am gonna do if i eventually make it through a queue.

    ----

Today i shut it down after 10+ hours and the queue still at 2400 ish.

I can confirm there are some serious issues with billing system and patron status. I made an order, but the game needed two days and several logons/restarts before it actually requested money and enabled patron status in-game. Also, regardless of active patron status I still have to wait for 5+ hours in the queue on each logon except for very early morning. I even cannot try another server because I already have two characters on the server I originaly chose. I basically cannot play the game I payed for. Just a warning to anyone else considering (paying for) ArcheAge. It's just broken right now. The game itself looks solid, though.
  • baphametbaphamet Member RarePosts: 3,311

i have never once tried this game but those queue times are absolutely ridiculous. man what a fail, even wow's launch wasn't that bad and they had the same issues with not enough servers at launch and that was 10 years ago.

  • GruugGruug Member RarePosts: 1,794
For me only. I started out as Non-Patron (f2p). Yesterday I logged in early morning with almost no queue, maybe around 300, and got in within 15 minutes. I logged off around 12 noon and signed up for Patron. Logged back on, obviously knowing my now Patron status would not have taken just yet, and was in a queue of just over 1700. Let it click down and went and did a few in house chores. Came back about 45 minutes or a little more later and was down to about 400 in queue. Decided to log off and see if my Patron status kicked in yet. When I rejoined, my postion in queue was 130. Was in game in about 2 to 3 minutes. Now, does that prove that Patron status is working. Don't know but my fellow game guild friends all had similar occurances....far less queue times for Patron.

Let's party like it is 1863!

The launch of this game seems pretty bad, from full servers to founders being ripped off, they did not plan well at all for the launch of a f2p game and they desperately need more servers even if it does mean a merge further down the line.

i guess that's for EU only, but still, 6 servers? what's their capacity, 10k?

    who did that math... seriously.

Im still trying to figure just why they use this ancient old technology.

Mega-servers, servers where you dont seperate players into different groups due to capacity problems, was invented more than 10 years ago, yet very few deveopers decides to use that.

One server, one world, with capacity of, well actually endless capacity (meaning no queue whatsoever), is done in engines like Big Worlds MMO engine (used for World of Tanks etc.). Some day developers will wake up... i hope!. Even the swedes have figure out to make such an engine (Entropia), sure the rest of the world can do it too!!!

Disconnected in queue again and back to the end of the line. There is no way i ever log in if it keeps disconnecting me in the queue.

This experiment is not going to end well.

Perhaps you shouldn't be playing another MMO while waiting in the queue...

Lol, so even the Queue is pay 2 win?

  • PioneerStewPioneerStew Member Posts: 874

I always get the impression that a meaningless timescale like '>1 hour' is shorthand for 'something has broken'.

I would prefer it if games just came up with a message such as 'sever issues' or 'connection issues' or even 'we are so inept we cannot extrapolate a realistic timeframe from the last several people in the queue'.

Then again, if they come up with some condescending, cutesy message like that Google 'Aw snap!' one I might have to find them and hurt them.  I think WS had a similar cutesy one if I remember correctly.  If your product is broken do not try to be cute about it, it will only further irritate people who are probably already quite pissed off, just apologize.

Why do people like the OP even play new MMOs? This is common as it comes. Matter of fact I remember when server loads were heavy on a new MMO you just didnt get in, no line ups. You just had to keep retyping you log information over and over till you got in.

    You have a point ofc.

My complain is not directly to queues itself, is about other issues that made queues even worse, like the afks are not well managed.

And for what i read around, things are worse in EU servers. (not sure ofc)

I have zero sympathy for all those who rushed to play any mmo at launch. History has shown and has been proven to be true, that the things people are crying about now have happened before and will always happen. You got the game you deserved. Now, if you had waited a month or two, you could have avoided all of this drama and whinning.

Why would you blame the consumer rather than the product?

If a game is broken, excessively buggy, has excessive downtime or has insufficient capacity (particularly when the number of pre-orders are known) during head-start, then a head-start should not be sold or refunds offered.

  • lugallugal Member UncommonPosts: 671
Pioneerstew, I can blame them for we all have fallen for the hype. I have and will not be a victim again,. Fool me once... Fool me twice...
Every mmo has the same launch issues. Gamers need to be a little smarter.
