What Game for RvR (GW2 vs TESO)

WhiteFrostWhiteFrost Member UncommonPosts: 3

Hi everyone. After a few years i want to go back to PC gaming and want to play some RvR. After a bit of search it seems to me that there are 2 "big"MMOs atm: Guild Wars and Elder Scrolls.

So i hope that some guys here can help me to find the right one for me. I read a bit over both but i didnt get a real answer for myself.

I search a game wich has a big part of strategy and many ways to play it. I dont want to play a RvR in wich the main part is to form a big group, crash into another big group and the bigger one wins. It should more have to do with some small groups in enemy terretory wich disturb them on some way 1-2 groups wich attacks castles and maybe some ways for single player (1-3 players) to cut of some materials from the enemys.

I am not sure if i made myself realy clear (and sorry for the bad english), but i hope it is understandable what i mean.

And another thing is the game should have action at possible any time a day (european).

So i am not sure which game is better for me. I read that Guild Wars 2 is most about forming a big group and just conquer conquer conquer without a greater strategy or deffensive just "take more till the enemy group is bigger then its their turn".

Elder scrolls i read is this a bit better because the map size is bigger but i read also that many players moved away from it and there is only 3-4 hours a day that there is real action and the other 20 hours nothing rly happens.

Maybe some guys of you can help me or share your game experience (best would be of some guys who played both of it and why they like the one more then the other one)

Thanks for the attention and possible helpfull comments and sorry for the bad english.

GW2 is still the better game there. My guild tend to avoid the zergs and capture towers and resources behind enemy lines, that is pretty fun. A small guild can also take and upgrade a tower pretty fine and hold it against a pretty large group of enemies if they play good.

But of course, playing like that you need to be a tight group and know when to run to avoid larger zerges, it is always a problem when so many players are allowed in the same zone sadly. No game I seen have solved it in a good way, most just limits the players severely.

ESO's "RvR" map is more than ten times bigger than all of GW2's "RvR" maps combined.  The difference in scale and magnitude can't be understated, and there is a degree of strategy and teamwork in ESO that I never experienced in my year long affair with WvW.  GW2 has great PvE group-friendly PvE content, much better than ESO's.  However, if we're just comparing WvW with AvA, ESO obliterates GW2 in every aspect.
