The Archeage server queues are a sign

A sign of how desperate people have been for a real open world MMORPG instead of all of these terrible casual lobby multiplayer adventure games we've been having to deal with.

Archaeage may not be perfect, and I don't like Asian themed MMOs, but it's way better than the other crap out there.

Hopefully developers start to wake up.

And waiting 4 plus hours to get into a server is not going to go over well with many people. I predict that half of those attempting to log in today won't be playing one month from now. Better log in times for sure but the popularity factor also takes a hit.

You do realize that nearly every single AAA themepark released in the last few years has had long server queues as well, right?  I'm not sure the AA queues are a sign of anything other than people wanting to try a new game.  It happens with nearly every new release these days, no matter the sub-category of MMO that we use to describe them.

The queues are 1 - 4 hours (max) anyone who tells you otherwise is lying.

Until Repopulation, Camelot Unchained or Star Citizen comes out there is nothing good out there for mmorpg players = there is nowhere else to go.  What are we going to do, try the WoW expansion?  oh phleasse

[mod edit]-I'm at 6+ hours in queue today.

The average login time wait in primetime is 5-6 hrs

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/27935608@N04/15087519707/

Lots of founders are fed up they paid 150 not to sit in a queue some paid 300 to play in game with the wife alot of them are asking for refunds already.

My friend tried to login to day only to end up seeing the screen above 6.3 hour wait he makes over 200k a year has 3 businesses when he looked at how much the patronage or packages were he said nope too much and wait too long going to find another game to play.

Trion is a very small company it downsized a few months ago it does not even have enough money to have GM's in game and to have a real customer service department.

I you look at the prices in UK its even more it more the WoW even in Canada it's more than WoW or any mmo out there don't expect to have them fix any problems you have for months every time i had majors issues took them min 3 months to get to my ticket with numbers i'm seeing in archeage double that.

It could be that or it could be the low number of servers.

I like the game and I think that opening too many servers at launch might be more damaging to the game than qeues in the long run. Time will tell.

I disagree with that "1 - 4 hours (max) anyone who tells you otherwise is lying: statement. I was just in queue for 5 hours. Started at just under 3000 in queue. Got down to 144....then got disconnected. Rejoined queue at 3600. That is not worth it to me.

I played beta. Liked the game. Won't stand for these ridiculous queues.

    WHat? Thats totally nonsense.

SWTOR also had major queues, and so did GW2,,,oh my,,, GW2,,,,,

Its a recent released game, and many people are going to pile in to try it before they leave. Has nothing to do with what you are implying.

Because if that was the case, Eve and Darkfall would have WoW numbers and WoW would have SWTOR numbers along with GW2....

AA opened with very few servers. The long queues don't mean what you think it means. Making any kind of factual opinions during first days of launch of any MMO is just never good.

People honestly think this game is so popular when its only been out less than a week and it has queues. Cool beans but give it a month tops and it'll settle down and be less populated. Every more well known game has this phase. Not being negative, just being real.

Really tired of hearing queue complaints and how they're somehow special to ArcheAge.  Every MMO launch of the last 5+ years have had queue times.  They are a bit overblown with the low number of servers but it's still a normal occurrence.

Aion: 8 hours queues constantly with people creating jump macros so their characters stayed logged in.

Rift: 3-4 hour queues every night.

    TOR: 1-3 hour queues.

GW2: Stuck on overflow server for the entire first week of launch.

The real sign is just how terrible the system of rewarding LP is.

If all the people moaning about paying for founders and how they are going to leave the game .. if they actually do leave then the rest of us will get in faster lol

6+ hours now and by the time I get in it will probably be 8 hours, so i've watched a few films, cleared my TiVo box .. It would be nice though if they introduced a patron plan for all 3 games where you pay $20 - $25 and have patron to all 3.

I think it's more of a sign that a new MMO has launched and tons of people want to try it out. It's way to early to tell how popular it will be in a month or so.

I think LP points need to be put as quest rewards while online, and you only get LP points being logged out not in

You can tell by the faction chat that a lot of the F2P players didn't do any research on the game at all before downloading it and all they can do is complain because it's not like WoW or whatever themepark they've been playing before now. Lot's of them will be gone within days and the queues will get less. The other thing that patrons can do if they are not tied to a guild or friends is move to one of the new servers. I did that yesterday.  There are no queues even in the evening and there is spare land everywhere.

    THis^

Also, did Trion/XL say what is the server capacity per server? i cant find that answer so for all we know servers might be tiny.

People seem to think their mmo of choice is somehow immune to this.  Every single mmo that has released in the last 7+ years has had this happen.  Doesn't matter if it's themepark, sandbox etc.  The only people who will argue this are fanboys.

Stop complaining about the Queues. This happens in almost every triple A game. Give it two weeks and those queues will be gone. I am not playing ArchAge now but will get involved when the hype dies down. Unlike themeparks the sandbox MMO gets better as it ages. ArchAge will be around for a long time. It is not going anywhere.

    Plus it's F2P.

EVERY game released in the last 5-6 years (at least) without some 'megaserver' architecture had queues the first 1-2 weeks of release. Even Wildstar. So... I'd wait a month or two to see who sticks around

All the Themepark games before it had worse queues. Wildstar (from a recent example) which launched with like 12+ servers on both NA and EU and having a $60 price tag had far worse queues than Archeage which is F2P and launched with 8 and 6 servers respectively (after the recent new server additions). And as someone else also said, both GW2 and SWTOR also had insane queues at launch. Another thing to remember is people are AFK Macri'ing in Archeage to get the Labour points which is inflating the queues beyond what they would be in a normal game.

The fact that even a F2P (no price tag) Sandpark (not even a pure Sandbox MMO) has queues (without accounting for the AFK inflation) almost half of that of a full boxed price Themepark continues to show how much of a niche market it is.

Like it has been said before in this thread - the OP is bending the truth to his favor.

EVERY MMO had queue times, overflow or something similar at first.

Reminds me of history class in school, during wartimes it was normal for the press to release information of great victories in battles - conveniently the victories of the enemy were never mentioned at all.

No, 6 hours is way too much for a queue. Opening many servers will result on dead servers after 1-2 months i agree but this situation with queues is totally unacceptable as well, maybe a couple more servers would help.

The only one lying here is you. There are hundreds of screenshots like this one and i have spent 8h in a queue yesterday with Patron status.
