I thought my main would be a mage (Daggerspell or Demonologist) but I'm having too much fun playing my Primeval archer alt. My Daggerspell and Templar are both just farming and mining atm and the Primeval is what I'm leveling.

i know that theres 120 possible classes but i thought in the end every1 pretty much resumes to a melee warrior, an archer or a magical attack classe, or can you have a 2 handed warrior that also uses magic attacks?

That's rough. I feel bad for those who are trying to play this mmo and can't seem to atm. I'm not playing AA myself. But, I might check it out in a month or two to see how the game is.

Ofc. Theres even grand swords and plate armor with magic bónus, so why not?
No need to poll the 120 class's, but only 3 archtype (not class's) is not enouph either.
Edit: i vote anyway in mage cause im mostly playing around magic skills
Currently I am rolling a Holding Wait Time Specialist. My class specializes in chewing their finger nails, pacing around the room and getting drunk while staring at hold times. I have > 1 hr Wait time buff due to my race.

You can have a melee weapon and a bow;
So it opens up lots opportunities.
You can be a melee caster, using a melee weapon that has magic atk on it (typically a staff or some katana). But at the same time you would be excellent in melee combat. After all, staff is melee weapon.
You can be a hunter ranger with one two-hander melee or two one-hander melee weapons. Or again with a magic staff or a healing mace. Which if you happen to go with healing mace/spear, you lose your magic dmg potential but you gain healing potential. You can still do decent melee dmg with these weapons.
But take note, without switching weapon, it's impossible to have magic dmg potential and healing potential at the same time. Other than that it's really mix and match time.
PS: illusionary gear and above is sealed and stats are random. It's perfectly fine to be a plate wearing caster; it only means you lost the full set cloth bonus, which is like 5% casting speed and 5% dmg bonus. However, you gain extra hp and physical defense for wearing full plate. Leather bonus apparently is only good for melee dd since range atk speed is solely depended on bows.

that is actually the case in Rift. Surprisingly many class combinations in AA feel different, fresh, and fun.

Mostly I am the Queue Class, its a hybrid of sorts and really not that good of PvP.
Went Mage actually the class name is Necromancer from my choices.
I am playing a Reaver, thats a occultism/sorcery/shadowplay combination.
I see what you did there
You forgot the "one of each" option.

I think this is a legit poll because there are 3 DPS styles in ArcheAge, melee, ranged physical, and magic.
Perhaps the wording should have been "What is your DPS type?"
Spellsinger (mage).
I would prefer warrior but I'm just enjoying the damage of this class a wee too much.

First, I thought you spelled something horribly wrong. Then I saw what you did there. Much loling occurred.
Can you imagine how huge the poll would be if he included all the different class/specs lol. It would be the first 2 pages of this thread.
Experimenting as Outrider (Shadow+Battle+Archery) since all mmorpgs tend to favour kiting so melee are always in a disadvantage.
In this "class" type you can do both tough obviously you have to decide on what you are going to aim since hybrids are bad.
I just played for about 20min. the game is nice but I cant see me spending a lot of time grinding in it.
waiting for bloodborne, the real rpg games are the souls games and they are multiplayer.
lol
Badum Dum Ch!
Dervish.
Leather wearing with a magic atk dmg staff with str. on it.
Primeval (Shadow+Archer+Auramancy). It's a lot of fun.
I haven't gotten to PvP yet, but the normal mobs usually don't even hit me before they go down. Kiting to the max.
