Banned for AFK
As a customer I pay for a game, I pay a monthly charge.
I get in head start which had several hour ques before RELEASE.
Trion knew how many head start packages they sold and it would be incredibly stupid to launch with fewer servers than can handle head start but they did anyway.
Trion's solution you can now be banned for DOING NOTHING.
Not automated play, not botting, not selling gold, not being racist, not scamming people (Which you can see all of when playing)
But you can get banned for going to the bathroom and staying in game.

Did they actually list it as the reason or did you just assume it ?
If you happen to be one of the lucky ones in game Trion is spamming in game you will be banned for going AFK.
Dont talk BS my friend...theres a statement from a community manager. Why would they ban someone for being afk? But kicking from the server? Yeah, thats necessary for sure.
So, unfortunately you will no longer run in circles and stay on 24/7 blocking the queue.

I wouldn't be suprised a single bit. They implemented an AFK timer before launch, so Free players can't just AFK ingame and so basically work around the no offline LP recharge limitation.
So if someone goes into autorun, macro walking forward or whatever to stay ingame. It wouldn't suprise me you get banned. As it hurts their wallet.
They want free players to buy Patron status and buy lots of LP pots instead.

Yea keep believing what Scapes says, same guy that said last week they had enough servers, there would be enough land, 15 gilda star house would not cause a problem, cross server AH will not ruin new servers, they would add servers at first sign of needing them.
I guess they are changing their tone some now, but the in game message said BAN.

It has nothing to do with trying to get people to buy Patron status or LP pots and everything to do with the thousands of people in hours long queues waiting to play the game. If people are AFK and not playing then they should be kicked so other active players can get in and have some fun.
Edit: And I'm not talking about the regular AFK timer. They're kick people who are auto running/mount leveling in order to get around the built-in AFK kick timer (which is exploiting anyway). They're also kicking players that AFK in character select and never actually log in to play.
Banned - Not allowed to play, account locked, can not log on.
I know it is hard to believe.
But anyone thinking of playing should know these things.

With all due respect, Scapes has a lot more credibility than you have. So forgive us for giving Trion the benefit of the doubt.
Well, they have to do something. I mean, I'm not even trying to log in at EU primetime anymore. I'm not gonna waste my time in the queue. I'lle just wait untill things calm down a bit. If ever.

Not banning, just kicking idle players to let active players in. We will also improve our AFK kick to detect idling at character selection which it is not currently doing.
If they are out and out bans, it should be easy to verify and thus prove Trion is lying. So far 2 pages in, there is no evidence.

No, just no.
What they actually did, was send a message (just once on Kyprosa, hardly spamming) that people AFK levelling mounts will be kicked from the game.
They have also said that people AFK at the character select screen will be kicked too, in an effort to ease the queue length and time, making more room for active players.
If you take that as Trion saying they are banning AFK players, you need more help than you can get from a forum.

Played on release in Russia they started with too few servers, took them six weeks to go from 6 to 22 servers.
Was very happy Trion was doing the release, they did such a good job with Rift.
Bought into alpha day one, brought several people with me.
Near the end of alpha there were a lot of complaints, Trion kept saying everything was fine trust them.
Scapes said there will be plenty of land, trust him, <<< this is exactly what he said.

It seemed to many in alpha that Trion did not listen very well, I still stood up for Trion because I knew they would do a good job.
It is a hard transition from Fanboy to Hater, I do not want to be a hater I just want Trion to do what they say and take care of me as a customer but they have done neither.
I'm not telling you to Trust ME, go READ the POSTS for yourself.
I do not blame Scapes in the least it is his job to say what the company tells him too, I blame whoever is making decissions at Trion and I'm blaming Fanboys like myself for letting this go this far.

I guess getting AFK kicked and then having to log in through the 4,000 player queue is like a 2 day ban?
But seriously, sounds like a mod needs to fix the title.
AFK banning is only happening to those who set-up a macro to press a key periodically in order to defeat the AFK timer. If someone is reported for that the first thing the Trion rep would do is send a message to the player to see if he's actually there.
Sounds to me like the OP is not telling us the full story.

Hmm I'm not sure what to make of your post here. I find it very hard to believe you had your account banned for going "AFK".
Now if you were afk while riding your mount in circles and were reported, that I would believe. Do you receive any email from Trion? Isn't that normal protocol, you get banned and then at least an email stating why?
I don't like doubting anyone's word, but yeah this just sounds odd to me
