One of the biggest reasons and excuses Trion is using is what happens when servers crumble months later.. We've all seen it, and Trion is trying to avoid that.. especially when you calculate the "housing" issue of transfering accounts.. Why doesn't Trion give players the option to queue up in permanent servers where housing is there.. OR create the vast number of "disposable" servers where housing is not there, or expendable at the customers knowledge.. I just want to play.. I could care less about losing my home in a server transfer.. I think they'll loose more customers over 5,000 queue lines, then some lame housing problem..

Well all I can say about this is - SOE / Lucas got it right when it came to their housing system in SWG and that was 13 years ago. PvP players and PvE players lived pretty much together and went on with their version of how to play SWG.
Now back to current to 2014.
Unfortunately when you can only put housing in a limited selection of non contested area's, this is what you get. The game itself <imo> I understand is PvP oriented mainly over PvE and sooner or later you are forced into PvP because the land that will only be available will be in contested area's and what player that plays this game for PvE want's that. They'll want to race to the newest server where they can put down their house in a safe area without drama by other faction players.
I pretty much understand what AA is about and forcing players that don't want PvP interaction when it comes to their farming and housing location will just simply move on. The cliche - The game is for a niche playerbase and until players understand that this is mainly a PvP game, the PvE players will be limited on what they can do in this game.
It's unfortunate the housing system is the way it is, I believe if you had the SWG version of housing in this game, you would be enjoying this game a whole lot more.
I played with open world housing in Horizons for over 3 years and I have to tell ya...it's a lot of fun once the servers settle down. It creates a real estate market and it's fun to watch the neighborhoods grow and change. It adds a nice, dynamic element to the game. Player created content.
. It just takes time...a good 6 months to a year to mature.
I agree with OP though...some " disposable" servers is a good idea.
Definately not a good idea, f2p players will just flock to those and empty up current servers. Also what you are describing is a different type of game.
Closest resemblance I know to AA is EVE and that gets people moaning at it and wanting PvE only servers etc.
Which i'm sure they balance against the fact if they ever did that, a good deal of their PB would leave.
Believe it or not this game made the same mistakes regarding housing that SWG made back in 04. The Urban sprawl of SWG was wrong. Towns provided service. But when mayor left the game or players didn’t want to pay taxes for city living they stopped providing that service. NPC became engulfed in a solo player ghetto. That affect game play, by taking up mob & quest spawn points. What AA has done is little different that SWG in that it limits building to area that doesn’t affect gaming. Lazy players don’t like having to walk and extra step back to the quest zone. Or P4F gamers don’t like being excluded from house at all.
Your post is full of errors, The first housing area is in a PvE / nonPvP zone. I have watched opposite faction players in this zone unable to attack anything or anyone. PvP is limited to zones greater than 30. No one is forced to only build in those zones. The building areas adjacent to the trade pack crafting center has been over run by newbies. But the are other building zones on the starting maps that are empty of construction. These prime spots next to the trade pack crafting table look exactly like SWG towns around NPC cities. They look like SWG slums crammed tight with noobness.Boy: Why can't I talk to Him?
Mom: We don't talk to Priests.
As if it could exist, without being payed for.
F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing.
Even telemarketers wouldn't think that.
It costs money to play. Therefore P2W.
