I had mixed feelings while playing... no actually I had negative feelings while playing it, becuse the core gameplay is pure rubbish, I kept hearing from reviewers and players how end game is so good in AA, but core gameplay is your usual point and press MMO stuff. So I kept pushing myself to play the game to reach that end game !

Essentially though, even with all the "end game" waiting for me I couldnt bare through the awful and clunky UI, horrible questing and the cheap feel of an asian product so I decided to wait for LiF, which should be much better, hopefuly the guys can pull it off!

Oh and the LP system is TOTAL rubbish pushing you to become a Patron (essentially making this game a P2Win game).

It was a far better game as a sub game. The F2P conversion turned it into a P2W game and destroyed the soul of the game, crafting/gathering.

The crafting/gathering created the trade runs which added an element to the PvP no game had done before, couple that with pirating and owning a ship, as well as gliding, vastly increased what would have been just a bland PvP game since the combat is average at best.

As is, the game isn't half what it used to be.

You like Questing? You need the game to lead you?

Where to go and  what to do?

This game is not for You.

And Thank You, for leaving the queque. ))))

Wait, since when is paying a subscription pay to win. This game sucks as a F2P game. It really sucks hard. I don't think you will like it if you don't want to subscribe.

But having a subscription certainly doesn't make it pay to win.

But yeah, you won't be missed. One less person in the queue :D

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

As a Patron and I know you need to be and I have no problems with that. I myself would label this game free to try. And I prefer it that way.

As with your other comments, I fail to see how what you say are no longer the case?

80% of the trade pack rewards goes to the player who turns it in and 20% to the player who made it. How exactly is pirating gone?

They listened to their players and reverted the changes to the LP pots.

So I fail to see what exactly you mean by how the game is now half what it used to be.

And for the OP I prefer this combat, over facerolling on my keyboard GW2 style while zerging.

You mispelled queue. and on the off chance that was on purpose, the OP was hardly crying.

It's not the patron that people are complaining about, it's the cash shop itself.  You can buy all the best gear using the cash shop. You can craft 9x faster using the cash shop.  I made it to level 22 before I gave up on it.  I was planning on being a Patron, but the advantages from the cash shop make Patron seem worthless.

Don't worry.  It won't be too long before there is no waiting to log in because there won't be that many playing anymore.

I just can't wait to see what excuse the sandbox open world PvPers will come up with as to why this title "fails".   It can't be because open world PvP and sandbox games really aren't what the masses want.  Nah, couldn't be that.

After so much thought i came to the conclusion that I would purchase this game (retail) if they let me own at least one piece of land just for buying the game. I am not inclined to subscribe just to own a house, and playing without subscription is painfully uninteresting.

Right now i am rushing through all the boring generic questing. Was doing it at my own pace but got really bored. The story they show me is yawn inducing so i cant even bother reading/hearing it. And doing other things at low level is terrible grind for materials and a waste of time. When im done with the themepark side of the game i will see if the later content is worth enduring the first 30 levels of crap.

Well IMO 60% of people in a queue, just there cause of the hype, and they will leave. I don`t mind first month queues.

to be brutally honest i don't see anything much special in AA

granted, i've only take 2 characters to level 12 so far, but the basic mechanic is very reminiscent of GW2 and even Aion, or pretty much every other Asian mmo i've played.....there are just more things around you that you can click on.

the quests are pretty standard stuff, the combat is pretty standard stuff, the UI is pretty standard stuff, the world is pretty standard stuff, everything is just.....same old, same old. sure it's pretty, but so was GW2 and TES and those didnt' hold my interest for long.

i'm still hoping that the naval pvp and sieging aspect at higher level will blow my socks off, but at this point i doubt it. All in all it's a nice F2P title, but hardly anything i would consider paying a subscription for. just my 2 cents.

    I have a diferent opinion.

AA is a great well made mmorpg, theres nothing horrible there to me, only some feature are only "ok". But i dont like the game because the feature A or B, i like the game because of the whole picture. Allready play games only because the combat was so cool, didnt stay long there, other becaue the quest system was so nice, didnt stay there long either and so on. ArcheAge is diferent, alot of only "ok" things but love how they are all connected and everthing seems to make sense. And yes, LP is a great part of these amazing picture. Players can buy alot of things from CS to speed up some process, but players can buy to everthing in game gold that same things, even the patron status, from other players. ArcheAge is a great experience for me (played 3 months in RU).

    Just sharing my opinion.

Then all is well.  While I expect this game to end up like most of them in past few years with a small and loyal following playing and enjoying the game, I have always been very wary of most that claim they want a sandbox game because you can ask 10 people what a sandbox is and you will get at least 8 different answers.

Either way, If you don't mind the wait, enjoy it when you can.

No, I actually love sandbox games and played UO, EVE and loved them all!

Thats exactly my point though - in sandbox you dont have/need quests, but if devs decided to implement them they should have done a better job or leave the questing out of this.

You are welcome mate :) but I wasn't actually in those queues, 4k+ is just too much, besides I installed the rus client aswell, no queues there :)

I'm still not sure how much of a "sandbox" this game really is. It seems to be mostly theme park style with quests and level based advancement. There are increasing creature/enemy levels as you move outward, and quests to follow to advance.

Just because you can go off on your own and grind out exp instead of quests doesn't really make it a sandbox. I can see some sandbox-like elements here with a crafting/farming system and land ownership and development, but it's more of a hybrid if anything. It doesn't really seem to distinctly different from the rest of the MMO scene in terms of available gameplay, aside from having more options than most.

But you're still leveling up, going through either quests or grinding, and working your way to a max level where raiding or PvP awaits. I'm enjoying the game so far, but people seem to be calling this game a lot of things it really isn't.

Best mmo on the market. Exactly what we have been needing.

  • majimaji Member UncommonPosts: 2,091

I'm happy for the people who play it and have fun.

But I'm also happy that I don't play it. When I first heard about it, it sounded very interesting. But then I heard about the pay2win factor and the generic question, and that was the moment when I said "goodbye" to the game.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

If Silkroad online has FFA PVP areas that you have to go through, you are correct. I don't know about the game.

dont really see what the issue is

    1) do the quests up to 30

    2) buy a clipper or aqua farm design and sell

    3) buy your apex with gold in the ah.....and have free patron for a month

    4) plant you small scarecrow and grow crops to pay for the next month.

You can do that if you can think and use your grey mass. But for most people its too complicated. They need to be hold by hand and told what to do and where to go. That`s people for you.

But... You just described archeage, down to the letter. So if that's what he was looking for, archeage is the perfect fit. I think you must be mixing up your games.
