So whats the downside of putting my LARGE farm in a pvp zone ?

JeffSpicoliJeffSpicoli Member EpicPosts: 2,849

Hey guys save me some time and explain what the downside of placing my Large farm in a pvp zone is....

Last night i was fortunate enough to do a trade rade to the eastern continet with 10 of my guildmates for the large scarecrow/farm, What a adrenline rush as we sped toward the shore in his clipper just as pirates closed in on us we hit the shoreline and completed the quest....

Upon returning the real problem began,No where to put the dam thing lol. So word is, there are still plots of land left in "red" zones on my continent. If i understand it correctly i can plant whatever i want and NOONE under any circumstances can steal from it but i can be attacked??? Attacked while im planting and gathering or just attacked when not on my plot of land ??

Your plot of land is safe, so long as you keep paying taxes on it. You however are open season. So they can kill you while planting/harvesting/whatever. You my friend are the one being harvested in a PVP zone.

Attacked while you are planting and gathering.  Biggest down side is you will not be able to easily move your goods via trade pack except during peace times.

Go observe one of the PVP zones one day when peace time starts, you'll see a huge flurry of activity as the farmers all load up their tractors and what not to start hauling stuff out of the zone before combat can start again.

In the safe zones you can freely moved goods to the shore or other hubs without having to wait, seems like the biggest advantage to me.

You can and probably will be attacked while planting and trying to harvest. Your crops are safe, but you are not.

But what does your own faction gain by killing you ?

you can be attacked while planting and gathering.

generally the reds will leave you alone though.

since launch ive had a 24x24 and a 16x16 in cinderstone moor, and a 56x36 area in parinoor ruins(which is about as deep as i can go into the enemy faction)  but attacks have been super rare.

what you will have to watchout for is physically taking the packs to build your house. they will kill you for stone/lumber packs. make sure to get escorts for when you want to build.

Killing players of your own faction gives you points towards becoming a pirate. Plus they can do it just to grief you. It's a PVP game... a lot of folks are here just to do that... kill other players... doesn't matter what faction they are.

Ok that part i understand, If you are building a home yeah you have to bring the trade packs IN to build it. But a large farm i just plop down plant gather and leave?? The other guy was talking about trade packs with a farm??? Why would anyone craft trade packs in a pvp zone solo? lol

I'd have to say during Alpha I was attacked my members of my own faction just about as much as by the opposing faction, especially in the lower (30's) levels.

I have my large farm and small farm in a pvp zone.  Only downside is you can be attacked when it's not peacetime.  But that's not a big deal- if it's away from questing people are unlikely to be hunting farmers.  Plus you can of course fight back- I just killed a guy trying to gank me when I was planting.

Trade packs aren't really an issue because you probably won't be crafting them there.  You can carry as much as your bag will allow of materials and craft the packs somewhere else.

It's definitely not a really bad thing having land in a pvp zone- it's not ideal but not bad.  Certainly much better than having no land.

I'll try and answer some of your questions and start at the beginning.
My farm is in Cinderstone which is a western continent zone that has PvP enabled.
I rarely get attacked at my farm but I have definitely been killed before.
There are many people/guilds that their only purpose is to grief and I have seen it first hand.

Your farm can not be touched by anyone you dont give permission to do so.
So all of your trees or plants will be safe as well as anything you drop on your property.
One thing people may have been trying to say is that it takes 1 lumber pack which is a trade pack to actually build your large farm.
While I haven't had problems with people killing me while I had my lumber pack I have heard horror stories of course.

Lastly, many people choose to make 10-15 or more trade packs and place them on their farm before a trade run. This is to save time when the trade run actually starts.
That way people in your guild or just friends can help load up a trade ship in a rather short amount of time rather than waiting on an individual to craft all of their packs at that particular moment.

Another thing is that crafting packs in a separate zone and bringing it to your PvP zone farm to sit and wait can be a pain but it is easily doable during safe zone times which each PvP zone gets after it goes into full out war.

If you have any questions feel free to message me or if you are on Aranzeb feel free to whisper me in game with the same name.

Crafting trade packs in the conflict zone is very dependant on where you plan to take it. Most players craft in the safe zones, then when peace hits a conflict zone, they take the safe zone packs to hand into the conflict zone's gold trader.

Usually they have a farm nearly the conflict zone which they use as a staging point for the packs, so they can turn in as many as possible whilst the conflict zone is in peace.

Alternatively you can do it the other way around, craft the trade packs in the conflict zone then hand them in the safe zone. Again waiting for peace before moving them out of the conflict zone. This is harder to do, because you're restricted to doing most of it during peace, unless you want the risk of moving from the speciality vendor to your farm during war :)

Definitely have friends with you when you take your wood pack to build your farm though, scout the area, protect each other. Have the highest level carry the wood pack too.
