Any newer/upcoming games where crafting is very importent?

So lately I've played a few mmo's (GW2 and FFXIV) which seem like crafting is pointless to the community. Those games just hand out gear from dungeons/quest's, ect. I really enjoy the crafting system in ffxiv arr though, to bad they hand out so much better gear than crafted :(

I'm looking for kinda a newish or upcoming mmo that relies heavily on crafters. I would love to beable to be a full time crafter and just help support the community and feel wanted ingame.

Any games out there that crafters are very important and always in demand? Kinda like when people always need ammunition, or medicines, and the best gear made from crafters.

Would be nice if an mmo had a system where adventures would only get mats/ingrediants to trade/sell to crafters so they can make gear and such for them.

Perhaps star citizen or AA? I heard AA you can't really just be a full time crafter in that one...

ESO has done good things with crafting.  EQ2, although older, also has a crazy robust crafting system and community.  In EQ2, you can be a pure crafter and not have to be an adventurer as well.

Crafting is intertwined in all aspects of Project:Gorgon.  Everything from gardening, creating survey maps for minerals and metals, fletching different types of arrows, crafting armor and then enchanting and dying it, textiles, cheese making, sigil etching to phrenology.  Crafting skills are tied into combat skills and in some cases gives them bonuses.  If you enjoy crafting I think you should check out Project:Gorgon.

In AA it is hard to be "just a crafter" due to the labor point (LP) system.  Basically all crafting actions consume labor points so you can not just gather iron nodes all day in a cave to craft swords as you will run out of LP's.  Other than that, it is a crafters game.  You can build ships and houses and farms.  You can create trade packs and take them to other cities to turn in for gold.  You can transport trade packs across the ocean with friends to turn in for even more gold.  On the flip side, PVP on the oceans is crazy.

You wont prosper as a solo player like you can with a group/guild.  For example, last night my guild loaded up three merchant ships with trade packs plus most individuals carried their own pack on their back.  We sailed them across the ocean to the other island with several other ships as escort.  We ran into a few pirate ships but our escort was enough to hold them off.  The trade packs when turned in at our destination earned between 12 and 19 gold each.  To put that in perspective, one APEX costs 50 gold and two APEX earn you a free month of sub time in the game.  Just the trade packs from the ship earned the guild about 750 gold and each individual had his own to turn in as well.  This was a the biggest and luckiest trade run we have ever done so far.

Don't let the LP system scare you though...  It helps to keep people from camping the resource spawns all day since they don't have the LP's to do it.  I can run into a cave and see two others grabbing the iron and know they will be leaving soon as they will run out of LP's so it is like a system that allows everyone their own turn at the resources.  Plus you can own land and grow all the wood/food/potions you could use.

As a patron (subber) I earn 5 LP's every 10 minutes I don't play the game and I earn 10 LP's every 10 minutes I do play.  I have a cap of 5000 I can earn at any one time and mining an iron node costs 10 LP.  As a subber you also earn enough loyalty points to buy a potion every 5 days that gives you 1000 LP's.  I primarily craft and when I get low on LP's I run a few of the themepark quests.  You can also do other things in the game like fish, go treasure hunting, raise animals for wool/food but those activities also cost LP.

Its free-to-play so you should give it a try.  It is the best MMO crafting system I have found since SWG.

Archeage like the above poster said is decent for crafting.  the best gear comes from crafting so it does really encourage it.

Upcoming wise, I've heard a lot about the repopulation being an extremely crafting focused sandbox game.  I'm not sure it will ever come out though since it was slated for last year.  They seem to still be working on it at least. so thats coming out "soon"tm.

I'll 2nd ESO. It isn't necessary that you craft but being able to will save your lots of money in the Veteran Ranks. For example one of the best sets of armour for light armour users is only veteran rank 12, drops as blue or purple, and to maximize the set for vr14 you'll need to upgrade it yourself. Up until my Veteran Rank I made everything that I wore

I recently watched a bunch of Life is Feudal videos on youtube. It has very involved crafting.

I'll throw my support behind Project Gorgon also.  Some of the numerous crafting choices have already been listed.  The dev is always adding more or planning to add more.  This game is still in alpha but you can play without paying 1000, 500,or 150. It is free!   Well, the devs and others would hope you would give something to show your support for the game, strictly voluntary.

This game is a blast. Not much attention has been given to it and major reason the recent kickstarter didnt do well.  Fingers crossed for an eventual official launch.
