Reading the new information coming in, I think they just realized it was not as fun as WoW.  And SWTOR proved that an IP (or any studio name) does not guarantee success in the MMO market  The only way Titan would have been released is if Blizzard was confident it could top WoW..and judging from what I am reading, it doesn't sound like it would have.

I don't think they actually expected it to top Wow, the market is pretty different now from what it was in 2004. But they must still  have a goal for the number of subs (something like say 5 million Western subs (just a guess)).

I have a feeling that if Blizzard ever top Wow they can only do it with Wow 2 or possibly (but pretty doubtful) "World of Diablo".

Assuming that a completely new IP could top Wow would be pretty stupid (at least right now but the market might become similar to what it was in 2004 somewhere in the future) and Blizzard might be many things but they ain't stupid.

WoD would be something I would be very interested in. But it must keep the same view and style.

An even smarter way would be to change the name and let another of Activisions companies release it.

No bad name for Blizzard but Activision Blizzard would still get some use of all the money they sunk into the project. That wouldn't really have worked on Starcraft: Ghost because it still would affect the Starcraft IP but Titan is a new thing anyways.

As I said in another post, I think that Blizzard just diverted their resources to their new project Overwatch which also relates to them saying a while back that they rebooted Titan into new project with a smaller team.

I won't be. I don't see what additional MMO stuff can be added to Diablo to make it a better game. In fact, Blizz made D3 a better game by TAKING OUT the AH, a MMO feature.

There is no reason to make any successful IP into MMOs.

Gotta agree with this. I think Diablo is fine as an online ARPG. Don't think it would really translate to an mmo well.

Would like to see Diablo as an MMO.
