Syfy has renewed the Defiance television show for a third season according to an update from Trion Worlds. Season three, as with the previous two, will see the TV show and the Defiance MMO working in tandem.
Ark hunters,
We’re proud to confirm the rumors: Syfy has renewed Defiance for a third season to be released on 2015!
The New Frontier is changing. Votan and Human cities alike lay crumbling under the force of terraforming weaponry. Refugees flee onto the frontier, and warlords rise to stake their claim in the chaos.
Is this the end of the Earth Republic? Will civilization descend into a new Pale War or will we rise above in a spirit of Defiance?
Explore an ever-changing world in Defiance now, and watch the stories unfold in Syfy’s dramatic television series in 2015!
Good hunting!

Makes me feel sad that amazing sci-fi shows like Firefly and Almost Human get cancelled after one year and mediocre shows like Defiance gets a third season.
Do people just switch on their televisions and walk out of the room these days?
iam happy to see mmos and corp fighting back the trolls bad mouthing games on social media.
i dotn play defiance any longer- but respect that they are constantly updating and fixing things for current fanbase.
i do however still watch the show. and i had a blast with the game at launch!
Well if you are a black dude in Hollywood movies and tv series..chances are you will be dead sooner or later.
I agree, Defiance season 2 didn't really go anywhere but as it's one of the few SciFi shows on the Wrestling Channel so we should be thankful for what we get. Also, it's my opinion if Almost Human had been on Syfy not Fox it would have been renewed for a second season.
It's sad how true that is.
Here's some nostalgia.
Almost Human was cancelled because it was too costly to produce. I believe other networks had a chance to pick up Almost Human, but was just too expensive. Same thing happened to Terra Nova.
Of course there is always a high chance any good show on Fox will get cancelled, especially if it is scifi, lol.
...or you could just blame Fox for those show cancellations.
I was saying this exact same thing the other day about Firefly
I loved season one of that when it was more about getting things done as a group and was more sword fights. Season 2 IMHO wasn't as good as everyone was fulfilling their own storyline. Couldn't watch it past the first third of the season :-(
I like Defiance the TV Show, unfortunately I suck at FPS. I tried twice and gave up.
Blame Fox for running their series into the ground through half-brained ideas like running episodes out of order. Syfy doesn't have much in the way of original programming that isn't schlock, so they protect the decent shows that they do have.

Kinda off topic; when I read anything about FireFly I get wistful and nostalgic for the series and Movie.

Charlie's ass was awesome..the rest of the show was crap

Defiance got a bit better this year with all the characters getting a bit more edge. I'm really glad they finally killed off Tommy (was that the deputy's name?) he was the lamest character in the show and had absolutely no personality. I hope the mayor is next, despite the show trying to have her go dark, the actress just isn't selling it.
I think Defiance's problem (as a show) is that it doesn't know what it wants to be. First season it tried to be some kind of very safe, very mainstream piece of crap like Stargate and those types of cheaply produced crappy shows with "all good" heroes and predictable stories. Second season they decided to go much darker, but they didn't really go all the way with it, since at the end of the day (almost) everything turns out well and the good guys still save the day and win.
They should focus less on the overall "mythology" and just run it like a sci-fi version of Walking Dead meets Mad Max. They have tons of interesting characters and lots of potentially interesting interaction among them. They don't need all this mythology bull.

Yeah it does suck. I really enjoyed the first season of Almost Human and was hoping FOX would renew it. It probably would have gotten a renewal if it was on SyFy. That's why Defiance was renewed and Almost Human wasn't. FOX vs. SyFy, one is a major network and the other one isn't. It's tough for Sci-Fi shows like AH to be successful because of their budget and I imagine the cost to produce a single episode of AH wasn't cheap.
I am happy Defiance got a renewal though. It's not the greatest Sci-Fi show ever made but it's solid and has good acting and storyline.
