    I love the people that say "yet you keep the chat open" these are the same people that will say "if you don't like grouping go play single player games". Hate to tell ya all this but that is called community and it all starts in chat not just guilds.  LOTRO has a great community, one of the best.

    Now the people that talk smack like that in the old days wouldn't be playing the game very long unless they love to be pvp'ed every time they turn around. In UO we use to eat people like this for lunch. Man some times I really miss those days.

    I think a good fix for this is when a person uses so many swear, racist remarks they are flagged pvp yet anyone now can kill them and they won't go pvp. How long will they act like this in game? Next character they may login and talk all sweet. Just a thought.

    It really is that bad!  It's definitely one of the worst chats I have seen in a long time.

    It's the worst possible mix, attracting the worst kind of people from the internet.

    DUDE It has nothing to do with F2P, Open PVP with Looting.  My wife was sexually Harassed in SWTOR because she was not speaking French, SEXUALLY HARASSED!   The same shit that goes on in EVERY MMO we ever played.  We ignore them report them and the Publisher deals with them.  In SWTOR where she was Harassed, there was no Open PVP with looting or F2P at the start and there was still BS like this going on.

    Advantages of Pay 2 play, is when asshats start harrasing People, they get permanently banned and lose Box price of the game as minimum. And as you have to enter actual valid personal and payment info, it's a hell lot harder to create another account.

    Free 2 Play games have no concequences for these asshats. Most of them are freeloaders, not spending a dime, so when they get banned, they just create another account.

    Me and My wife Play AA RIGHT NOW.  Guess what we did what we normally do with ANY MMO.  Yea that is make a Guild chat with only chat we want to see and we get involved with 0 open world chats.  WHY?  Because its the SAME from game to game.  It has nothing to do with F2P vs P2P.  HELL in WOW there chat is just as BAD but players only get a 72 hour ban and they are back at it in trade chat 3 days later.  SO NO F2P has nothing to do with it.

     

    The ONLY think that F2P has over P2P is more gold sellers than normal.  Thats it.  None of it is about the level of harassment because Trion can Ban and close an account and will force that player to start over.  And yes they can ban the IP address range if they want to.

    I agree, ArcheAge chat is rather bad, that's why i don't read faction chat.  But if you want to see something worse, go play APB.  District chat in APB makes ArcheAge faction chat look tame.

    Wow.  That sounds pretty lonely.  I never turn off global chat for any MMO I play.  It's one of the reasons I play: to be social.  If I have to turn off that general chat, then then game has lost any social aspect for me...

    I was ban for a week in UO for calling someone a F** because he took my gear that I traded to him to fix.  Yes I got my gear back but was still ban for a week.  Problem is today NO mmo throws more than a 72 hour ban on people and RARELY bans anyones account for life.  Why?  Because there are too many MMOs out there and they need to make money.  So they need people who are less than desirable.

    Yes.  What else are you going to call a few people who cause problems?  A handful of MORONS being stupid.  Guess what They were ban because we never seen them again.  We reported them.  We also blocked them.  Hell I even turned off general chat because they were starting with everyone and anyone.  All from 1 guild too.  Guess what Its not different than AA or some BS that went on in WOW.  You can sit and blame the ENTIRE community if you want.  Its not, its a group of people thats it.  Hell my AA guild there is no bs, no harassment nothing going on and we are over 130 members.  because you see a dozen people it does not equal the community.

    Talking in General Chat does not equal Social.  IF that is your argument you FAIL.  Lonely hardly I got on TS with countless other of my guildmate and chat.  I still have about 20 friends who have not tried AA yet and I talk to them on a weekly bases. Talking to a bunch of Children in General chat does not = Social.

    Yes ofcourse TRION can ban an account. That's all they can do.

    Pay 2 Play MMO's have a much higher and effective barrier against asshats!  It's called a boxprice for the game and a Subscription fee!

    I am not saying there are no asshats in P2P MMO's, as there are. But far less than in your average F2P MMO.

    There is ZERO Financial concequences in a F2P game for getting your account perma banned! As like I said, most of these social handicapted asshats know what they are doing! They are freeloaders and won't spend a single dime.

    And they can't ban IP addresses, yet alone IP ranges!  Every ISP uses DHCP these days and contineously cycles IP addresses among their customers.  It's almost impossible these days to get Broadband with dedicated IP adress anymore. Only expensive business packages provide it.

    Its 100% the truth.  One guy who uses to be my friend for a long time could not play MMOs prior to the MMO industry exploding.  He could not.  He used the N word all the time and got ban account locked for ever and everything.  He does not see more than a 72 hour ban for using it.  Hell he had been ban 14 times in WOW during Cata and its till active.  I choose to not interact with him since Cata but I know him too well.  It does not matter no one will perm ban him in any game.

    Heads up you can do an IP ban but it only works until DHCP resets.  And it does not matter because guess what ALL MMOS are going F2P in the future.  SO that is going to defeat your argument everytime.  Only 2 MMOs are doing well P2P.  WOW and FFXIV.  Thats it.  And guess what?  You still have problem children in them that only get 72 hour bans NOT FULL BANS.  

    O and NO there is not less than Average in a P2P MMO.   Ever watch Trade chat in WOW?  I cannot watch Trade chat because the BS in there.  Guess what I turn it off.  Sorry its ALL MMO dont like it?  Block the chat.  Sorry trying to get your personal agenda through on AA.  You dont like it?  Good go elsewhere stop bitching about the game.

    It's a PvP game, so of course the chat is going to be filled with douchebaggery. These types of games always attract the worst humanity has to offer. While I can't comment on AA's chat (haven't played the game, and don't want to), I will say that I would find it hard to believe that it could be worse than what I experienced with EVE Online.

    Seriously, what the hell happened? Older PvP MMOs didn't have chat so bad. I remember playing Shadowbane, and the community was actually pretty good.

    Guess that's just humanity in general.

     Because back then MMO's, even PVP ones were a niche.  Everyone else was playing Unreal Tournament, Quake, Battlefield 1942, etc.

    Yes it is just Humanity in general.  There is no patch for human stupidity.  O and its not just PVP games its all MMOs right now.  Hell I can even go to MOBA, HoTS I played the other day and seen major douchebaggery.  and it was Player vs CPU.

    So true. A totally brutal game, yet such a civil player base for the most part. It was nice that the players could police each other as well - bully my guildmate? Guess what? We will tear your city to the ground and dismantle your clan for that.

     I am now actually glad there is no Open Proximity chat and text chat in Destiny.

    Seeing the Bungie forums.... I guess Bungie made a wise decision, to keep chat to private parties only.
