Help me build a small desktop [NCASE M1]

GrubbsGradyGrubbsGrady Member UncommonPosts: 371

Hey guys, I was here a few months ago talking about my interest in building a small desktop computer that would also be able to perform with the best. At that time I ordered two NCASE M1. One of them was to be for myself, and the other for my fiance; however since then our lives have changed and so have my needs.

At this point we are only going to be building one, and I will be selling the other case. She has since stopped gaming on the PC and my game time has been brought to a screeching halt.

I no longer need a complete behemoth of a rig that I originally planned to have, I am now going more for the best build for the money I am going to spend, and would like it to be able to handle the Unreal 4 engine without any issues. That is really my only requirement of it.

If you have the time and would like to suggest me some parts that will let me work in the UE4 engine, and also fit them inside of the NCASE M1 I would really appreciate the help!

Thanks!

If you really want "best build for the money" then I would reconsider the size restrictions.

Need to know the budget for the machine.

Unreal engine has typically been very flexible - it can run great on low resources. I don't know how 4 will handle downscaling, but previous editions have done well with it, and we have tech demos running on iOS machines, so I would expect it to carry that forward.

It's not the engine you use; it's what you do with it.  A game engine would have to be awfully restrictive to block programmers from finding ways to get awful performance on high-end hardware.

I would be very happy if I could build it under $1000. I won't be doing anything crazy in ue4, just small projects. Games I play are dota 2 and WoW. I'm totally new to the world of small parts so I'm up for all suggestions for parts! Thank you

I suggest looking on the web on how to build a gaming rig with that case.

I have found this link for you; it is is Spanish, but you can see the components that were put in and how you can cool the CPU and GPU is such a small case: http://www.disfrutadelcastigo.com/2013/12/pc-gamer-2014.html

for the GPU you can find a liquid or hybrid cooler should you consider it will help you or if you see the GPU getting very hot due to lack of airflow in the case.

    I hope this helps!
