I need to speak with this project lead/manager and find out how the hell he managed to get Blizzard to keep this project afloat for 7 years and then for it to be scrapped. In this day and age and it's either get it going ASAP or don't bother but Blizzard persisted like no other.
Whatever I aint afraid to say it, and that is I still enjoy WoW (with breaks) and I am happy they are taking focus away from Titan and bringing it to their one true flagship. I would be content as well if they spread it out among WoW and D3.
Here's to Blizzard in making a very good decision.
I cant help but laugh when I see comments about " The world of MMORPGs is over"
I remember a few years ago some highly paid dingbat said the era of PCs is over! If all the pinheads are satisfied with the current level of MMORPGs then yes the age of MMORPGS is over for you, go play Minecraft.
If you are one of those players who demands more from a game the worlds of MMORPGs hold vast potential. Hell just peek at whats coming in Citadel of Sorcery and you can see that. Dont be complacent. The reason the games became repetative is because the players were too foolish to call the devs on it.
You knew it was crap in beta and yet still bought the damned thing. Tough.
The AAA Western MMORPG is pretty much dead going forward in terms of new big games this point... Why make them when they are so expensive, run so much risk, and have such an asshat target customer base? Why bother when you can make something a lot lot cheaper and make so much more money?
This is probably for the best though, because with the departure of the profiteer vultures we might see a rise in more of the passionate inspired development that fuelled the great niche games of before.
Ofc, the indie/ small devs can still carry on screwing the pooch with the same mindset we have seen dominate for the last decade, but hopefully they will see the opportunity and grab it.
With proper planning risk could be quite lower than it is now. You know what they need? Competent knowledgeable testers (not damn fanboys trying to preview the game or paid "alphas" that are just a shameless money grab) and developers that actually listen and don't think they're the godsend messengers of a next big MMO hit. I've been to alphas, guild I'm in is invited to alphas and the way I see it, the testing is pretty crap. Latest example is Wildstar: our guild was most interested in warplots, Carbine was told it won't work as is, our GM got told he doesn't know what he talks about. Arenas - we told them what would happen with bad gear itemisation, powelevelling and all the rest...they didn't listen. So on and so forth. Every single fucking time. Why throw fuckton of millions of dollars into something and then not listen to people (customers) how they feel about your product - or, they listen to fanboys that would be happy if you fed them horseshit?

Played: UO, LotR, WoW, SWG, DDO, AoC, EVE, Warhammer, TF2, EQ2, SWTOR, TSW, CSS, KF, L4D, AoW, WoT
Playing: The Secret World until Citadel of Sorcery goes into Alpha testing.
Tired of: Linear quest games, dailies, and dumbed down games
Anticipating:Citadel of Sorcery
