I'm a founder and never played AA before launch because I wanted a fresh experience.
I expected a mad rush and lots of competition..not a problem.
The problem is that many of us could not compete because we couldn't even log in.
Then there are the folks that cheated their way to land ownership. It was anarchy at it's ugliest. That would be fine too if we knew before buying that the game cheats were going to be allowed and ignored. A lot of folks have fun cheating...and there are a lot of folks having fun in AA.
I have fond memories of Rift, trusted Trion to be a reputable house and expected better of them. I really did.
OK, I just read this whole thread, and I can understand fully why the OP is upset.
However, land is not a guaranteed commodity in this game. This isn't World of Warcraft with an instanced farm or garrison. This is a sandbox (or sandpark) with in the world housing.
For the record, no, I own no land, and I'm a free player (gasp!). I actually wasn't going to join a guild for a while because I wanted my brother and my friend to level and maybe get my other friends into the game to see if we could make one. But I did, and it's a lot more fun than just playing solo.
I've been playing for a couple of weeks. Still only level 30 on my Templar. But I don't mind leveling slowly. The whole fun in the game is working cooperatively with others to achieve goals.
If you don't work cooperatively with others, why even bother complaining when people get ahead of you? Take your lumps and move on, either to another area, another server, or another game.
