Banned within 5 minutes of making my first character

ChillbillyChillbilly Member Posts: 12

The title pretty much says it. I downloaded the game, made a character, logged in, picked up my first quest, walked down the road a little ways and turned it in and boom banned. I never said anything in chat, nothing, just account banned almost instantly for who knows what.

Anyway not sure what that's all about, but from what I did get to see of the game in my few minutes it looked nice.

    What was your toon's name?
  • ChillbillyChillbilly Member Posts: 12
Casio, I named him after my cat lol
  • NurmiporaNurmipora Member UncommonPosts: 16
Casio is world wide brand .. but i think they would have reseted your name .. not ban .. seems wierd !
  • DaranarDaranar Member UncommonPosts: 392
Very few games that would take issue (actual action) to that name, in reality.   Either way, with the amount of bots, this is a LOL post that you got banned for any reason.   What is TRION doing over there?   I really want to enjoy the game but tonight was ridiculous.  You could not chat AT ALL for full page, nameless spammers in EVERY channel.

If I want a world in which people can purchase success and power with cash, I'll play Real Life. Keep Virtual Worlds Virtual!

It's not the name, their bot banning system is being a little too overprotective http://forums.archeagegame.com/showthread.php?76660-Morgana-Banned-right-after-Character-Creation

Care not to joke about gold spammers either. You get banned for writing the gold seller's website even if you are messing around. This i think it's good.

Sorry to disappoint you but no I didn't do anything wrong, the poster above you pretty much answered the question as to why with the link he provided. Believe it or not sometimes these things happen even if you don't do anything wrong. So just calm down with all the accusations of hacking or botting, which you seem to know more about than me by the way.

They  very recently updated their anti botting script and although it's managed to removed more bots, it's also caught a lot of innocent people out. You need to send an email to appeals@trionworlds.com and it will be fixed fairly quickly. There's a major update coming later today, which will further refine the anti bot mechanisms. In the meantime, people should avoid displaying any bot like behaviour such as mentioning the names of gold selling sites in chat or using any kind of macro.

I do wonder whether the OP might have been banned so quickly simply because they stayed in the immediate starting area without moving, while familiarising themselves with the controls and UI etc. It's known that the gold selling spam bots have been logging into those areas and spamming  without going anywhere so not moving away might look suspicious? Just guessing though.

BTW. After today's update, characters won't be able to use any of the global chat channels until they are level 15 as a way of slowing the bots down. A much more comprehensive anti bot system borrowed from Rift is due to be implemented very soon. XL Games are working on integrating it now.

I don't think most people read past their own first post in a thread.  I could be wrong.  I actually fell most of these posts are BS but the OP just seemed sincere.  They were not calling anyone out etc. so it seemed pretty legitimate to me.  It just seemed believable.

the banning algoritems are kinda funny..

Legit players getting banned with no warning or what so ever.

The funny part is aswell.. that trion complete banns you of everything.. including the account page which you need to make an support ticket..

Some companies are really stupid as fck

  • rydianmorrisonrydianmorrison Member Posts: 2
When you send an e-mail to the appeals address, it creates a ticket in the system for you and e-mails you back the info.

Well after reading up on the link (that was not posted when i started to write my post.. thank you very much...) Turns out we where both right... You DID get caught by the anti-bot system... It just so happend to be a anti-not system that sniffed glue.

I am glad for you that you are part of the miniscule % on average that was a actual false positive. But 9/10 that is not the case so sorry i guess but it does not change my stance... You did not get banned within five minutes for nothing... You just got ED-209:ed

As for hacking and botting and my knowledge about them... No shit Sherlock... My first computer used the line "press play on tape" and i never left after that... I am a computer geek... My bloodtype i Caffine+... Of course i know a lot about bots and hacking in videogames... I have been able to follow it up close... .. . Oh wait... You where implying that i USED them... Oh how embarasing for me... And here i stand flourishing. You make me blush... Well Carl... I hope you do not mind if i call you Carl,, I think you are barking up the wrong tree here. I don´t use bots, sorry. It goes against my policy.

I did use a money hack fairly often in Sims3 so i guess you got me there...

That being said Carl... I still think you are crocked... Ain´t noting you can do about that.

This have been a good conversation

Looks to me like it's trion is fixing it the "Wildstar 2.0" way.

Not knowing what to to, taking mesures and actualy effecting normal users more then the one they need to adress.

I got kicked in wildstar's pvp map for "AFK" while i just killed a enemy 1 second before.

Not to mention i dont even see any change what so ever in the game itself.

Yesterday i played it and it was goldseller bot galore. on all channels (excluding the trade/trail one)

Unable to read anything that was on it.

I on the other had got muted for typing 2 lines to fast or somthing and was unable to talk.

But like i sad 3 weeks ago. this game is gonna be dead as fast as Wildtar.

And for the guys doing the "farmville" portion of the game, good luck selling to the other "farmville" players since the rest will be GONE after the first month.

And then the game is left with 100 players that farm and craft, ir gonna be AMAZING.. (doh)

And u @Tawess stop lying....... you where cheating on Quake2 2fort4 to... :P

And it was called "Load Error" not "Press Play On Tape" :P

Just turn the casette player upside down and try again. (and use a powercardridge)

Beats loading the ABC Turbo manualy :P

That's some serious doom and gloom!

I don't understand why you negative guys think there will be less to do in this sandboxy game than a themepark, to the point where people will leave in a month.

Sandoxy means there's more to do.  Open world pvp, territory control, sea battles, farming, trading.

Hell, this game makes FISHING interesting.  If you go sports fishing, you risk pirates coming by and ganking you, stealing your boat and selling all your fish!

There's countless examples of interesting player interactions that will keep people hooked for years.

Unlike a game like say Wildstar where you hit a wall and all there is to do is Raid (after having leveled in areas basically by yourself since it's all instanced).

This game is absolutely nothing like Wildstar.

It's like the opposite of a thempark, where you hit a wall and the game closes down after leveling.  In this game, you break out when you finish leveling (which only takes a couple days anyway).

I bought the founder's pack months ago (I think April), played for a couple hours and logged off.  The other day I thought it was time to give it another shot.  Tried logging in, and discovered my account was banned.

I searched my email to find some kind of notice of the banning, and sure enough I found one.  Months old that I saved, but assumed it was your typical fishing email (scam), so I didn't bother.

I followed the instructions on the email to recover my account, and I'm still waiting to actually hear back.  It's been a week so far.  Yesterday I got an email from them that stated they were experiencing very high email volumes and I would hear from them soon.

So I'm just waiting patiently for this mistake to be fixed.  I'm sure it will, eventually.

I like the game except for the Labor Points, I'm a founder and patron, but I find myself always out of Labor Points.  It's bad to handicap the back-bone of your business model (subscribers).  Patron should mean unlimited LP!

Almost ANYTHING offers more than Wildstar at end-game if you aren't into 40 man raids (and, sometimes, even if you are)

The major issue with Archeage's end game in other regions is that it's... well, basically everything you said, ironically.

Yes, you can farm.  But what happens when you get bored of farming?  It's really not particularly interesting activity, after all (it's like watching grass grow, literally)

Yes, you can fish and risk getting ganked.  But what happens when you've gotten ganked for the umpteenth time and the excitement really isn't there anymore?  And the fishing itself is... well, about as fun as watching grass grow.

The PvE in Archeage is vastly inferior to the PvE in dedicated themeparks so there isn't much fun to be found there.

Then there's territory control which is either pointless or becomes grossly overbalanced over time as stronger guilds consolidate and the difference in player power between the powerful (be they powerful from dedicated playing or from whaling) and non-powerful (casuals, non-to-light cashers, etc) grows over time.

Archeage has its own walls.  They're just different from a themepark's (and they should be).  In a themepark, you hit the wall if you completed all the content and get bored of it.  In Archeage, you hit the wall if you get bored of what's in the sandbox (or, alternatively, other aspects keep you from enjoying what's in the sandbox, like if you end up not being able to own land or powerful guilds start ganking everything).  It'll take a few months for people to hit them though, just like it did in other regions.  It'll be interesting to see if the same walls here as other regions causes the same effect (player loss)... though I really don't see any reason why it wouldn't.

Well, people can get bored of anything.  But I think they're less likely to get bored when the content is player-driven compared to static (Raiding vs. being a pirate).

Also, as far as I know the game is doing just fine in Russia and Korea.  In Korea it had a big dip in population, but I heard that was mostly because they made archeum so scarce and it was just way too difficult to progress, not because they hit any boredom walls.  But I've heard the population has bounced back and is growing now.

All i had to do was look at the images from Wildstar to know that mmo will need all the help it can get, and banning anyone by accident would be very caustic.

I thought I was banned also when my account login didn't work. And the account page/customer support wouldn't even load.

Found out it was my IP that got banned for whatever reason. I unplugged my modem for 20 mins to get a new IP and it worked.

I would suggest getting in touch with support. Nothing really anyone can do to help you here.
