I am currently looking to decide between a couple of games to get into. The games I am trying to decide between are FYI and SWTOR. I am a PvE gamer. I do on occasion PvP, but mostly just to pass the time. I want to be able to play something that has some fun dungeons and on occasion hop in and do a raid for a few hours.
First, SWTOR. I haven't played in quite a while. Probably a few months after release. I got a bounty hunter to 50 did most of the nightmare raids and the game go kind of stale. I definitely love the I and story. My main concern with SWTOR is the population. Are there enough people playing the game? How hard is it to run dungeons and raids at max level? Is the content challenging/fun?
I have played FFXIV more recently. Always enjoyed the game, but other things get in the way. My one problem with it has always been the speed of combat. Always thought it was a little slow even at higher levels. The new class is coming out soon. How hard is it to get caught up in the end game? Is it pretty easy to get in and run dungeons and maybe a raid or 2?
I would probably subscribe to either game, so there would be no restrictions. I could try SWTOR I guess, but I have heard it's pretty restrictive. Any of you all currently playing SWTOR quit and came back and are enjoying it?
Thanks for the help!

I really don't know that I would recommend either of them on the basis of their end game. As you no doubt know, the star in swtor is the story and they really have not been doing much to expand on that outside of dungeons which I always felt were kindof clunky. FFXIV is a good bit more polished in that regard but the overall endgame progression I think is pretty bad where all dungeons pretty much are there to provide two kinds of tokens, only one of which is relevant to the current gear curve and is capped weekly. After you get a bit of this you can do the 1 relevant raid for the gear curve (they have a couple raids but only one is really valid endgame at any point in time and not just a catch up raid).
If I had to suggest one it would probably be swtor on the basis that its a smaller initial investment and is testable to endgame without having to spend money if you know what you're doing as well as being able to do the story on multiple characters.
Side note: I don't really understand the speed complaints about ffxiv, its not the fastest cooldowns but its also not much slower than average (think its about .5 seconds longer global cooldown than wow) and at that it already felt spammy to me (felt like i was mashing buttons all the time). The intent was that it was supposed to be more tactical and thoughtful (which I think it failed at because 2.5 seconds still isnt long and none of the gameplay mechanics really lend themselves to tactics and thoughtfulness anyway) which is just a different approach to combat. I feel like a lot of people come in with a lot of expectation about that kind of thing when it isn't a one way road (there are more ways to do combat then skill spam and rotate and they all have their own costs and benefits).
