Have to say I got into gaming back in early 1982 playing such games on my Spectrum ZX as The Hobbit, Lords of Midnight, Dun Durach and even Ant attack and FM (football manager) all in 8 bit man where them graphic amazing eat your heart out PS4 and Xbox1 players. Then I went onto 16 bit and played Elite in 1984 here is a link to see how amazing these games were The most amazing thing is that Elite Dangerous is now available now too http://www.elitedangerous.com/ its gone a full cycle and is on its 30th anniversary. But my first mmo was UO like many others then Ashrons Call and EQI.
In all my game playing years its now obvious that many gamers are suckers for fun but do tend to boast a little too much like my dick is bigger than yours ect, which is a shame as overall we are a good bunch of nurds. The one thing to me which meant the most was the game play aspects and if I had to choose one game which stood out the most it would be hard but I'd say either EQI or UO as EQI was the best PVE I played and UO was great for PvP in them days. EQI got it right for social side though and I played that game for 10 years. I just hope I can last another 30 years and have as much fun though I will be a little slower that's for sure lol.
Just to put things in prospective though my dad is now in his 70's and still plays MMO's such as Eve online and EQII so beat that if you can lol.
mmo`s..yip probably 10 yrs now.....eq,daoc,eq2,lotro,gw2,aoc,aion,warhammer,wow,rift,eso,archeage currently not in that order tho lol, but my favorite is wow, and ive collected every expansion box, lvled 8 toons over the years both factions as well got some cool pets and mounts, even finally got my achievement "Brigwald of the Undercity" with my undead lock and cant wait for wod. Im really always been yes a pve and dungeon crawler person and pvp well only if alot of friends went in there as well, but i just love the questing and crafting and exploring.
I started playing DAoC twelve years on dial up when I was a sophomore in high school. I wasn't very good and due to dial didn't get the playtime one would like. It wasn't until I was a senior and payed for the upgrade to cable internet where I really got into MMOs and that was FFXI in fall of 2003.
I've only been playing MMO's for about 1 1/5 yrs~~ Totally amazing indeed! I'm an "old school gamer" Asteroid/ Missile Command player so many yrs ago....Never got into X-Box/PlayStation but finally got a fast enough internet connection to be able to check out PC gaming.....Still playing the one I was intro into 1 1/5 yrs ago...Dekaron.(2 moons)...Awesome smooth game play indeed, it's an older MMO but weapon graphics are indeed AWESOME......For my second now, I'm giving ArcheAge a shot, Level 10 only so far.....About a week after launch, I'm playing on the last NA server added~~ Had NO queue, got right in
MMOs didn't appeal to me until 2002 when I started playing Neocron. Before then I was to busy with the military to even care about playing games online with others.
if i count also muds, 20 years. my first real mmorpg i played was UO on unofficial server, first one i really played a lot (and officially) was istaria (horizons)
Well if counting MUDs and such... I remember skipping school to play them in the 6th grade.. making that..1990... but if your counting internet based.. that would be...i THINK 1994 with the beta for Legends of Kesmai,, was either 94 or 95.. one of the two..

IIRC, it was Genocide MUD back in the early 90's.
I vaguely remember trying another MUD before that, but I don't remember what it was.
since 1999 with EQ but i stopped heavily playing during the last 2 years
currently only casual play (0-5 hours per week)
primarily because i'd rather be playing boardgames w pickup groups

When i was 16 i dabbled in UO and EQ. However iw as always fascinated by sci fi so when i found Anarchy Online in 2001 i dropped everything else.
I would say i have been playing MMOS for almost 15 years now.
I started playing right before GoD came out in EQ.
So since 2003 give or take.
Meridian 59 - 1997
EQ - 1998
Daoc and SWG - 2001
and then there is the rest of them...
Total 17 years
I started with Meridian 59 in '96 but the first 10 years I played on and off until so I havn't really played 18 years, more like 12-14.
I still play even if I at times takes breaks for other types of games (right now: The new "Age of wonders 3" expansion with a friend).
