It is about time devs start showing the true power of each machine rather than bowing to the parity across all platforms nonsense

    PC > PS4 > Xbox One

I play on pc, ps4, and Xbox one, I read what everyone is saying, but my experience with the Xbox one is much better than media depicts the Xbox one experience to be.

With reference to the 2 consoles, I have played Diablo 3, bf4, cod ghosts, and destiny on both consoles and yes maybe in a still picture ps4 has more textures, but I don't even notice it when I play, and moreover the Xbox one just feels more responsive.

I am just left scratching my head at all the media love for sony, I just don't see it the way they do, pc is a whole different story.

Dragon Age is going to look great on all platforms.

Your experience probably has a lot to do with server infrastructure, which honestly, blows for Playstation (PS4, X360 owner here).

    So. Much. This.

I'm tired of developers/publishers (I'm looking at you Ubisoft) wanting there to be some sort of parity between all the platforms. They are not equal, and they should not be treated as such. Games should be designed to take full advantage of each platforms individual hardware, and if that means PS4 versions end up looking better than the XB1 version, then so be it (and of course those with higher end PC's will, or at least SHOULD, always have the best looking version).

Also, I assume the consoles are running this at 30FPS? Personally, I'd be more inclined to play console titles (with the exception of First person shooters) if they ran at 60FPS. I'd honestly rather have something like 720p 60FPS than 1080p 30FPS. Hell, let there be an option for it in the games settings menu, to switch between 30 and 60FPS "modes".

I presume that the console versions are locked at 30 fps ? The PS4 one most definitely is but how about the Xbox ? If Microsoft's toy can't handle 60 fps even at 900p then this is pathetic.

ACU was what I implied with my post, as that is the most recent incident, and no, Ubisoft is by no means the only publisher to do it (Bethesda Game Studios is locking The Evil Within to 30FPS with letterboxing on PC, and you can only remove it with debug options, which is not supported nor recommended).

But no, Unity is not the only game to have this kind of thing done with it from Ubisoft. There was Watch Dogs, and Far Cry 4 will have parity across all platforms, as that's what Alex Hutchinson said back in June during an interview with Major Nelson.

Still baffles me that Microsoft would allow a smaller and less profit making company out do them with hardware and capabilities.

this is not doing them any favor that every game that is maximized shows that the xbox runs on lower resolution and most likely less fps to top it off. And of course the industry for the players to be stuck with a machine that runs at 30 fps on average and might dip below.

you would think pride in the Microsoft name and all the money they have basically being a monopoly selling OS'es that it would trickle down in a benefit to their gamers.

might seem off topic to da:I but anyone using an xbox one playing da:I might enjoy it a lot less for reasons unknown from the great Microsoft company.

I think this has more to do with EA having a little more power towards Microsoft than for example ActiVision.

There is too much coincidence here that Blizzard was forced by Microsoft to make D3 work at 1080p on XBOXOne or they had to make it parity between XBOXOne and PS4.

And then same happened with Destiny that ended up being parity across all four platforms!

Seeing the sensitive political history between Bungie and Microsoft, Bungie will never tell you the "real" truth, as we all know the game could easily run on 60fps on PS4.

I have been a longtime Microsoft and XBOX fan. Had the XBOX360 for many years, but after the Whole debacle with XBOXOne reveal and all the PR dissasters that followed, I made the decision to go for PS4 this time around.

It just pisses me off, that Microsoft has this kind of power to put pressure on game studios/Publishers to try mask the hardware shortcommings of their XBOXOne console with this parity bullshit! /shrug

That brings my pc within reccommended (gtx6602gb) if I get it though, I will still buy it for xbox one or pc, most likely during a sale event.

Graphical differences are neglible between systems and my experience when comparing xbox one vs ps4 side by side, I favor xb1's use of lighting, dark to lights show up better.

I see things on my xb1 that do not show up on ps4 and I've adjusted all the brightness settings I could. Yes fine detail might win out on ps4, but when I'm slaying the dragons, I don't have time to sit back in stillness and enjoy the detail, I do want to see into the shadows though, they shouldn't be completely black, they are shadows.

We are the few that care about specs and its impact on the game.  Most people care about will it run on my system, will be on available for (insert platform) and when can I get it.  I try talking specs and differences with most of my friends, but they don't care.  They have a platform and want to play it.  Unless there is a huge discrepancy, most people won't care.

Second.....WatchDogs 100000% does not have, let alone strived for, parity across all platforms.....For starters, the resolution on XB1 and PS4 is different, as is the lighting, textures etc etc.....and PC is the lead platform for FC4...

So again...developers, let alone Ubisoft (after all, it was them you were looking at remember?), are not constantly pushing for parity across platforms, let alone to have it be in such frequency that its "making you tired"....

What you are saying makes no sense. Blizzard were forced to make D3 work at 1080p? Do you understand how retarded this sounds? If a game studio is able to make a game run at 1080p, why the fuck shouldn't they? So that all the PS4 fanboys can get to gloat? If BLizzard can make D3 run at 1080p, they should do just that. Why should they release it to run at 900p instead? It makes no sense.

I am SHOCKED that developers can't optimise those games to run at 1080p with what the Xbox one has. Their specs look more than fine to run 1080p. I think it just comes down to individual developer ability and some developer probably take the easy way out rather than optimising their game to run at certain resolution. I can easily run a lot of these games at 1080p at 30FPS with PC which have worse specs than the XBOX one.

I find Ryse (900p) looks smoother overall than Destiny (1080p).

ill stick to PS4 versions of the game for a while. At the moment i cant play PC games on Ultra at 60fps because i need to do a massive upgrade and dont have the money for it. Im not buying PC games if i cant run them maxed out at the most fps possible because that would defeat the purpose of building a gaming rig.

The Witcher 3, on the other hand, i would probably get it on PC (after i upgrade my pc) only because Witcher games tend to support modding. I dont buy PC single player games witohut modding support unless they are PC exclusives.

I'm much more concerned about whether they will force PC players to use console style controls and interface with limited keyboard mapping.  I'm so damn sick of typical cross platform game design.  I can deal with sub-par graphics as long as I'm not forced to turn my PC into a console wannabe.

i believe they have showed pictures of the interface and it has a keyboard interface like mmos (similar to the one for the previous Dragon Age. And it also supports gamepad for those of us who prefer that way. As long as they offer both options they are doing it right.

/shrug
