I'm going to mention 2 things. Aion is MMORPG.. totally different type of game. Marvel Heroes is an MMOARPG like the Diablo franchise. Everything is different about the 2.

2nd Aion has tons of restrictions if you choose to not pay compared to paying...limited character slots, you can't use world chat, limits on trading, you can't buy or sell at the trade brokers, no Legion warehouse, limited mail and you can't send items, limited gathering and item extraction, you can't open your own store, limited amount of time you can do instances each week and not to mention you get a decent amount of perks from paying compared to free 2 play such as AP and insignias. As I mentioned this is not even the type of genre as Marvel Heroes but to say this model is better free 2 play model than Marvel Heroes in my opinion is crazy..

You are confusing AION US with AION EU. There is no monthly subscription plan for AION US.

Yea , i agree the Cash Shop is actually very friendly and well done , But the game is ridiculously easy, and bad imo... so cancels each other out for me..

Warframe is also a solid F2P title.

Thanks for this post, I had bought squirl girl last week, and didn't get a box, wrote customer support, and got my random hero box!! Too bad I had a bad roll on my box, got Black widow :( but hey a free hero is a free hero, her synergy will be somewhat useful.

I think it is actually THE BEST cash shop implementation.

And they are all the time giving you free boosts potions, in game events, etc...

So I challenge you guys, please tell me a game that beats this one in terms of cash shop?

If you are a Star Wars fan, why not try the Star Wars The Old Republic?

Path of Exile, probably. The ONLY thing there that even remotely has to do with gameplay at all is extra inventory space (which they give you a ton of to start, anyways).  Everything else is just cosmetics.

I prefer Marvel Heroes more though cause it's more casual and has more hero variety (not that Path of Exile doesn't have tons of things you can do with skill gems, though) but that doesn't have much to do with the cash shop.  With a cash shop like that, I'm kinda surprised PoE is getting enough revenue to stay afloat (it is).

    Because?

Their cash shop is very good. The price point is a little steep on heroes and team ups, but you do not NEED any of those things in any way, and even if you did you can earn them in game VERY easily. Not to mention they constantly give out free stuff, to include heroes, so much so that its a wonder to me they make money at all. I have personally poured more money into MH than any other MMO, not because I needed to, but because they enticed me with good business practices, good products, and a fun game.

The only thing you will ever feel you "have" to buy is Stash slots, and if I recall correctly they have even given some of those out for free before too (I think they did for the 1 year anniversary).

MH is a great game that deserves way more press than it gets.

I am not a paying costumer . I play it for free and I must say, that you actually get quite a lot of space for free. Main inventory, one stash and team-up stash from beginning. That is quite a lot of space. I have played for 4 months and have half the roster, 6 pets, 3 team-ups and can get plenty more by just playing without paying. Have some pretty nice costumes from blender too.

I am enjoying this game completely for free and I am not forced to pay anything for any in-game things, because I don´t have to. I eventually get anything I want.

But it saddens me to not be able to pay. I would like to pay for a lot of things, but I am student at university and my money are tight right now, so it will have to wait to summer probably.

Since I didnt pay anything yet, my opinion is not based on my actual experience on their shop, but on more of a observation from unbiased person.

They have one of the best customer supports and one of the best shops. Their price tends to be sometime high on some things, but you are never forced to buy it, so if you dont want to pay you dont have to. And if you pay the price, then it wasnt too high price .

Most people who pay are actually people who enjoy the game and want to reward devs for their awesomeness. I wish I could too, but it will happen someday. And I heard rumours they are even talking about making stash purchasable for in-game droppable currency. Which is totally awesome. Also they have brilliant costume designers.

As opposed to what?  If you are going to have to spend money on a game in some form would you rather it was inventory or endless +1 crafting items?

MHO isn't a free game if you play it a lot but it is one of the best of the so called F2P games.  None of them are truly free at the end of the day.  You end up paying in some form or another.  Either it's from additional grinding or endlessly trying to catch up with the whales to be competitive or it's something mostly harmless like inventory space and new impulse hero/costume purchases like MH.

Personally I would rather just pay a month sub fee and take real world money completely out of the development and play equations but that opinion seems to be very out of a favor these days.  Most people can't seem to look past the "but it's free" spin to the underlying true cost to the game and how you are forced to play it.

This is true. And later they will say this game's shop sucks. I never listen to these types of threads. Its really up to the person playing whatever game they like. Nine times out of ten they will say the game they like has the best cash shop.

Yet you're still assaulted by frikkin cash shop promos and adverts every time you log in. Can't stand it.

And good luck unlocking all the heroes you want just from playing the game.

The only good cash shop is a non existing cash shop.

I will also vote MH as the best cashshop implementation.

There is actually enough inv space (particularly if you have a team up) unless you need to horde everything.

Path of exile's cash shop is not better, as it also put cosmetics and additional storage behind a paywall.

if anything they would be tied.

gotta agree, especially if you keep your eyes open for specials and giveaways.  I've spent maybe 40-50 bucks since I started playing a couple years back.  Bought Ghost Rider, a Marvel Team Up pack, and some storage, and that's it.  And I have 5-6 heroes and enough splinters to buy 2-3 more.

For me, it doesn't make a good MAIN game to play, but it's alot of fun.

GW2 has great a inventory setup and they hand out bags every once in awhile plus the auction house prices for extra bags is nice.  Would love if MH had additional free space but I can live with it so far.  MH has codes for free stuff a lot and there is a website that keeps updates on the latest give a away codes.

More or less my approach to this game too .. although i have a few more heroes than you do.

The great thing is that each hero really play very differently, so there is a lot of content in this game.
