We all know what is next after successfully crow founding; grab cash shop for get more & more money

It is end of KS and similar services in gaming industry,Seldon Crisis  has great idea  but  they should  look for some seriously invesstitors  ,not beg money from naive gamers..

kyleran, since i'm ignorant of the previous KS campaign can you explain their IP dispute a lil?  it sounds like an "eve-like" which is something i'd normally "kickstart".

 

but your opinion is one of the ones i trust most on these forums.

On topic at hand, I love the idea of the game, but the developer(s) should hhave made a new IP and not stolen one without permission.

Oh so they did have troubles with this then?  There was another thread about this game where I asked about the IP and the copyright issue but there was never an answer really.

Just went look at indiegogo and they seem to have pruned out references to asimovs works and foundation series. If I remember right in the kickstarter they flat out mentioned it was based in off asimov works etc.

I wonder if the pruning will  allow them to slip this by or not?

On their forums before Asimov's estate took action, the developers were claiming to use a legalistic argument of their project being a derivative work and hence not requiring permission from Asimov's estate.  Given that the first attempt did not try to file off the serial numbers and used the names of Asimov's characters as is, it did not seem likely to have succeeded.  At the very least it would have bogged down in a legal battle.  Granted I am no lawyer, but I do not see how it had a chance of escaping IP infringement.  It would be like making a Star Wars game, based on continuing the story right after the ROTJ movie, using all the main characters' names and claiming it is not infringing.  

On the indiegogo, it seems there has been the barest minimal attempt at changing the names of the factions and characters.  Will it be enough?  Don't know, but I would imagine Asimov's estate would be keeping a close eye after being alerted to this game's previous infringement once already.

I actually went to kickstarter and backed it - I loved the way they designed the ships. Only then did I get to the comments section, though, and found out about the copyright issues. Oh, plus the div barely spoke any English and someone in the comments section confirmed that some of the founders of the project were scandalous exploiters from EVE from over a decade ago

Thanks for the comments so far, we are happy to discuss all elements and have or will not try to hide anything.

I wanted to provide a clarification to ease any concerns.

Initially we were planning on basing Seldon Crisis on a novel by an italian author, and we referenced elements of Asimov's foundation series as both us and the author are huge fans, We were / are speaking with the Asimov Estate regarding a partnership but until those talks are concluded we were asked to not mention certain elements of his novels, this is completely understandable (copyright law demands holders actively protect their copyright or they can lose it)

we have taken the necessary measures to fully comply with what has been stated. All given to Professor Asimov and his works have been deleted from websites and social networks, ships and factions now have different names according to the logic of a new text written and originally published by us. any reference to a book that we wanted to write now no longer exists. We are also attempting to modify and / or delete the video and references as above on the major online magazine achieved by our news.

Kickstarter requires 60 days gap between stopping and relaunching a campaign, this is why we have now launched on Indiegogo.

The campaign is to enable us to speed up our ongoing development, and to enable additional features to be worked on at this stage.

Care to mention who those founders are? That alone could prevent me from backing it, hell if it's certain people I'll advertise "against" the funding of the project.
