Why bother spending time and money implementing security features (if it's even possible in the first place, considering the nature of the game's programming structure) when people will pay and play, regardless?  Certainly the OP wasn't deterred by the hackers (not that the OP is actually paying yet anyways, but he might, someday!) nor many other posters here.  For all that huge hullabalo about that twitch streamer never getting banned despite having video records of hacking public, the amount of people saying "I'm done with this game" was actually very small.

That´s correct, the problem in AA is that economy really means something (contrary to most other games) and this is getting destroyed by the land and tradepack hacks.

I doubt you have seen anyone complaining about the actual game because i have seen very little of that.

All the complaints have come from the way the game is handled by Trion from the payment system to cheating to Que-ues ,wrongfull bans ,botting ect ect.

Imo every concern that has been brought up is one ALL should be concerned with and are legit concerns.This again has little to do with the sactual game as i am sure MOST actually had fun with the game.

My legit complaint is the over the top hand holding and the housing and i don't like pvp in my rpg's.Aside from not wanting pvp i am right on the other two,housing IS a concern and hand holding is really sad,it is like the dev is saying we are all dummies and need our hand held,however going voer the top with arrows on the ground is just ridiculous and totally ruins immersion.You should NEVER see magical arrows or markers in a game.

Nah, the honeymoon fallacy implies folks like the OP don't genuinely enjoy the game, I'm sure they do enjoy it, I still enjoy most MMO's I had fun in, whether I may play them still or not. A game you like is a game you like.

Let's revisit this thread in 30-60 days and see where everyone stands. Both arguments here are based on assumptions that have yet to be established. After the dust settles, I think the population and the overall "feel" within it, will change (For better or for worse, I can't say though I have my doubts). And for those who, by then will have dropped several hundred dollars on their game for 2-3 months of play and are happy with that, well, great, But I suspect many will not be. We've seen this with every hyped game so far, how can you say there is no honeymoon?

I tried it... didn't have fun... quit. I think it's more due to me not enjoying MMOs as much as I used to, specifically fantasy ones. I'm optimistic that one will pop up that peeks my interest eventually.

I like this game and have been playing now for a few weeks.  I enjoy the sandbox part and being able to do some generic quests when I'm in the mood.  I sub and I have land but most of my enjoyment comes from the ocean activities like fishing or across ocean trade runs.  It is crazy fun when a cutter full of pirates starts chasing you and jumping over to your ship.  Your rear puckers up and it can get crazy but even if you lose your pack, you still get 20% of its worth on turn in and you dont lose anything when you die.

 

That said, I am very disappointed in the botting and land-grab hacks.  At this point in the game I dont believe anyone is getting medium to large plots unless they use the hack.  I had a guildie who wanted to remove his farm to place a small house.  There were a few of us there looking around, no one in sight.  He removed his farm and BAM!  someone dropped a house who was no where near us.  It also seemed the house went up before the farm was even gone.  We all ran around looking but none us us saw a single person and most of the houses surrounding this plot were guildies.  The house was listed under a different player name less than an house later.

 

I will stick with the game though the end of this year but if things dont change and Trion can not get a handle on these hacks and bots, I'll probably move on.

You should never listen to anyone on the internet, especially here on this site.  Unless you belong to the club of a select and limited (how can I say it without getting banned) elitist MMORPG'ers whose sole job is to prove that their style of MMO gameplay is the only way.  Since I doubt you belong to that group, and lets face it we all know who they are. Do not listen to no one on this site unless it's the staff. 

 

In fact one of the first places I come to know whether or not I will like a game is here on this site.  If the masses here dislike it, chances are I'll enjoy the game.

If you people do insist on dismissing anyone's positive opinion because it's in the first month or whatever, then I will expect that you will be dismissing damning ones of it formed in usually a far smaller amount of time? Because not to apply an even hand to both make you a hypocrite, right?

Your reasons here hold some merit, they are not however, all inclusive. I have been present at more launches than I care to try to remember, I have alpha through release tested quite a few games and I form my opinion, or what I will put up with off of my personal tastes.

You seem to be one of the haters, your post was designed to make yourself seem superior while holding all others in contempt. I get where you are coming from, but your delivery is rather immature.

As I said, some of your 'reasons' have merit. Some people are just going to hate no matter what. I get that as well.

My personal tolerance is very very low for bots (thank you lineage 2) so, to me that is a deal breaker. Did I come here and slam the game...actually yes I did during beta when they did a total re-vamp and essentially ruined the game for ME. That's not to say thousands of other won't find it entertaining (obviously they do) just that it is not entertaining for me. But the bot issues is what sealed the deal for me, so I went my own way.

So to me the laziness of Trion to get in and root out the bots is intolerable. Does that make it a bad game? Probably not, others things (again my opinion) do that most obviously the community, which I relate to cross roads chat on steroids.

So, in short I don't like the game and I put my opinions out there for others to take in, but not necessarily form opinions off of. Just relating my experience.

Truly agreed Hatefull. I too played Lineage 2 and have delt with bots whether they be from the People's republic of China or some paranoid greedy alliance group bent on total domination of the server.

For me as you it is a tolerance level. However, I shall say that I have met a group of individuals I enjoy playing the game with as I did in L 2. They are experiencing basically what I am with the addition of pointless intra-faction rivalry which seems to interfere with battles against the "opposing faction". On my server it sort of "appears" that the other side has tactics where my side has no more than petty greed and lack of vision and cooperation.

I suppose i question this entire faction farce in Archeage...

I would say maybe play the other side for a while, you would see that they are just as beset by petty greed and lack of whatever I think.

Glad you like it.  I think the game could have been ALOT better.

 

As Ive said before, the one thing they got right was the water stuff.  Boats and the like.

 

It seems that EVERYTHING else was poorly designed and implemented.  Add to that a progression infrastructure predicated on making you wanna visit the cash shop to spend more and you have a game that XL Games laid a turd on.

Anyone saying its the best game ever or the worst game ever... ignore those and get to the grit of what people like and don't like. If you read a forum that way you will gather information from it. If you ignore the people that are 100% in either direction you can actually gather data.

I called you out on your hypocrisy regarding  your  'policy' of it being ok to dismiss a player's positive opinion on the basis of it being in the first month, the 'honeymoon', but you seemingly being fine with taking a hater's opinion at face value based on 2 hours or whatever play.

I suggested it was double standards to do this and that it potentially valued the sneeringly cynical and negative over all else.

I said that this was a core problem with these boards and was a cancer that stopped real conversation taking place.

True, don't think anyone can deny that, but the service addressing these issues don't seem at the same level of an AAA game. This is about XL not Trion, and it's quite evident of this because the same problems that still plague the other versions of the game are in this one. Bots i would say are bad, but a bit more acceptable, but hackers and exploits should be taken out instantly, especially when they affect major parts of game play.

To me is just seems XL don't really care much, leaving Trion to clean up.

Yep you sure can! Turn off NPC names in settings, and it will turn off the exclamation and question marks as well.

     The game is overrun with bots and it creates problems at times.   It is the ONLY thing keeping me from subscribing.   Most of why I want to subscribe is for land, but the gold selling bots take up all the land.   Once TRION gets a better handle on the bots (as I have seen small improvements in my time on ArcheAge) I will be subscribing.   

     Yes, there are a lot of annoying idiots in this game.   But once you get past the annoying Faction chat channel, the idiots kinda make the game what it is!   There are idiots in the world, there are aholes who scam people and that makes certain things in a society tick, and so it does in ArcheAge.   I  have aligned myself with a Guild that is honest to the Faction and kind to one another and have since seen the value in Pirates and scumbags.

     Yes the F2P limits you and makes you want to subscribe.  It's a business, they have to.

     Yes even with a subscription, there are things that make you want to spend more money.   One could argue Pay 2 Win, however, compared to games like NeverWinter Online, it's nothing.   I have managed to navigate my way around without spending a dime as I wait for certain issues to be resolved before subscribing.  It's not as much of a block compared to NWO, SWTOR, EQ1 or 2, or others.

 Once we address the honest concerns, that EVERY game has to some degree, you can really start to enjoy it for what it is.   AND, what it is is NOT a game for everyone, but it is a game for me...while I wait eagerly for EQ Next!  

 

TLDR;  Give it a try!  It's FREE!   It's not as bad as the doomsayers make it out to be.  In fact, give more games a try (not 10min), an honest try.  You will see the negative doomsayers on these forums are often wrong.  

Agree with you man! i really like this game.

People need to try but should lvl more then lvl 30.
