I went to log into my Glyph account this morning (GMT +9) and found the following error notice:
"Your account has been suspended or banned. Please check your registered email for a message regarding this action, or contact customer support at appeals@trionworlds.com (error #2003)."
I have not received any email from Trion at my registered email address. I wrote an appeal email from my main email account. Additionally, I like other people, have not been able to buy anything from Trion for about a week. I have put in tickets about that and have not received any response at all.
I understand Trion must be busy, but so far for the past week or so, this has been the worst customer service experience I have had with any online game company. I am a patron, as well and bought an Archeum Founder's Pack and Apex before I was no longer able to purchase online. I had a similar experience being banned in ESO when they were struggling against botters, but it was taken care of within 24 hours and I was unbanned.
I really like what XL has done with AA, but Trion -- not so much right now. They are dragging XL down right now with their total lack of customer service for paid players, especially.
I have done nothing wrong. I've never hacked. I don't even know how to hack. I just want to play my game and keep my house and farms and gold. I expect all of those things from Trion to be resolved satisfactorily and soon.
Has anyone else had this happen? Has anyone even heard back from Trion customer support with anything other than a automated email?
EDIT: I did cook a few thousand hardtack yesterday to level my cooking skill. Maybe they flagged this as bot activity? But that's how AA crafting works. How else do you level cooking or craft a bunch of stuff. You just go to the work station, shift + right click, and let 'er rip. That's not botting. I was sitting there reading while it was happening.
Comments
Yes I know of 2 folks that got their accounts flagged/banned. One got it resolved in just under a week, the other is still ongoing. Combined with TRION's mistakes and the time it takes to get an answer from them I'm not sure if it is incompetence or lack or resources or both. The number and variety of cases of hacking/cheating/etc. going on (not just talking about simple botting or advert spams) it all stems from XL Games client.
If your account was suspended/banned by accident you will get it back.
Still don't see why people post these threads on this site where nothing can be done.
I agree, DMKano.
Cerulean, I posted because it's something people should know about. I came here looking to see if anyone else was having this problem in our little mmorpg.com community. This is a community of sorts, isn't it? I can't post on the official AA forums except by creating another account specifically to do that (which I did). Quite often I can get news faster through these forums that from the game company or the official forums.
So people post here to share information and find information relevant to a specific game. Seems to be working.
Also, on the official forums, it seems like a lot of people have started posting the same thing. It seems like what happened in ESO with their massive ban wave.
Only question is how soon the accounts will be reinstated and what the compensation will be for loss of patron time, etc.
Trion needs to quickly hire and train a few more customer service reps and have people working different shifts besides Pacific standard time. This is a service being provided to paying customers worldwide. They need to step it up a bit if they want to keep some of this success from AA to help out the rest of the company. They are going to need to extra customer service people anyway when the Rift xpac launches because I'm sure a few more people will come back in to give Rift another go then, as well.
I am also in the same situation where I have been banned/suspended from last week Thursday =_= I've sent out numerous appeals and have also left messages on their Twitter & Facebook sites. Another reason for posting here is that I have no access to the forums due to being banned/suspended >_< I have yet to receive any email in response to my appeals nor have I even gotten the said email with an explanation as to what even happened that made their judgement to keep me from playing in the first place =_=
I am not impressed
I got an email from Trion CS today and the ban has been lifted. It took less than 24-hours. That's about what happened when ESO did the mass banning to get rid of their botters as well. If this makes AA better and gets rid of a lot of hackers and botters, then I'm okay with it.
However, I did lose one day of patron time and I expect to be compensated for that with an extension. I am waiting for the answer and will post here when I find out. If you've been wrongly banned, make sure you ask for your patron time.
Last I checked I hadn't been banned from the game, but I did get banned from the forums for replying in a thread about how our free extended Patron time had vanished.
I used no profanity and didn't call anybody names or anything. I just expressed how disappointed I was in the continuing poor design decisions of the game, as well as the ongoing technical issues. (Especially as a Founder.) For that, I received the following:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
You have been banned for the following reason:
Goodbye Post
Date the ban will be lifted: Never
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I never said "I quit", that I was leaving, or anything else of the sort. They just hit me with an outright banning with no warning or proper explanation.
After that, I DID quit -- by uninstalling the game. Trion will never get another penny out of me, and I couldn't be more regretful or embarrassed that I purchased a Founder pack. I have been very patient with all of the game's and Trion's issues since day one, but clearly I was too forgiving and supportive.
I've been MMO'ing since the launch of UO, and with some of its design choices, technical issues, and piss-poor support, this game has brought more aggravation and grief than just about anything else I've played.

Well, if you didn't get banned in error (did you try to appeal?) then likely the highlighted quote was the cause. Those sorts of comments are frequently screened out of official forums because the company doesn't want the title presented in a bad light, might scare off other customers, or especially if there are other threads somewhere for you to voice the complaint.

It still counts as a wrongful ban if there was nothing in the terms of service that would justify it. Given that their excuse was "Goodbye post", I'd say there probably wasn't.
Here is my final update in this thread. The saga ends here. I don't think anyone has been following my epic quest for justice or really cares. Nevertheless, I feel it is my duty to report the final outcome.
I was banned for a little under 24 hours. Trion CS lifted the ban. I wrote back and said I felt I deserved to be compensated for my lost patron time (one day). Earlier I noticed that three days had been added, but I hadn't heard anything from Trion. I finally got an email from them today. Trion granted me a full month of patron status for my lost day. That's pretty nice. I guess Trion CS must have been pretty swamped, but they did try to do right. The compensation was much more than I asked for or expected.
I won't be using that time as I no longer play AA (for other reasons -- just don't want to sink huge amounts of time and gold into the game, and probably RL money above and beyond my patron sub).
Botton line: Thanks Trion. Even though I won't be playing AA any more, I will go back and check out Rift's new expansion and possibly Trove and Defiance from time to time.
