The National Nurses United, which is an international union of nurses held a conference this morning about the Ebola situation. Just as I have been saying, the hospitals are lying about being able to handle Ebola cases, and the hospital in Dallas (like almost every hospital in the U.S) did not even have any protocols, gear, or way to dispose of hazardous materials. This conference was triggered by the lies and blame about the nurses who have contracted the disease.
Nurses from hospitals that told the media and political officials that they are ready and prepared for Ebola cases are apparently flat out lying. One nurse said that the one and only room that was reserved was right next to the lobby and may not even be usable, and not appropriate. On top of that almost none of the hospitals even have a set of protocols to deal with the cases, and they don't have the appropriate gear for the staff.
What they had to say about how and why the Ebola spread in Dallas managed to scare the hell out of me. Even the lab became contaminated, and they've confirmed now that the virus is airborne. They aren't testing people who have turned themselves in unless they meet a certain set of criterion, and the reason for that is because they simply can't/don't want to deal with them if they DO have it. So now, yeah, its all over the place. Great job everyone.
