I've played for several days now. Questing is a bore and the entire game reminds me of a poor man's FFXiV from the graphics to the maps to the lack of voice acting.
Either I am missing something or I am failing to see the point of the game. Its deadly dull in my opinion.

What you are missing are the 100's of threads already speaking to your experience.
In short, the problem is indeed you.
what is the point of any game? I never see a point to any of them
Do you want to pvp and take control over areas/castle sieges? Do you want to be a pirate and pillage and plunder? Do you want to farm and gather and play the market game?
If yes then the game could be for you provided you can stand the hodge podge art design and lackluster quests (which you don't have to do you know, you could just craft and gather or steal, etc).

FFA Nonconsentual Full Loot PvP ...You know you want it!!
Caveat: Don't expect to do any of that solo for long. Get a guild and know how to network to achieve your goals or else don't bother with Archeage (including the farm part, if you lump that in with crafting. Crafting in AA is so difficult/hardcore/ridiculous that it also needs to be done as a group to get anywhere)
Yes. You are missing a big something. The questing is just an extended tutorial. You can forget it and get on with doing your own thing at any time. If you are mainly interested in gathering, exploring, farming, trading etc........... quit questing at level thirteen or so. If you are mainly interested in PvP, you may want to carry on until level 30 when you will be guided into the PvP enabled areas. Nothing is compulsory...just follow your own targets.
Yes, he played it wrong.
Sounds like another passenger for your boat
Sigh,
I thought these threads were slowing down.
I self identify as a monkey.
The problem is Archeage advertises itself as a "Do what you want, play your own way, make your impact on the world" game, and the begnning game and mid-game (Hasla Grind) make it seem like a themepark with sandbox elements. And when people see "sandbox", they think "Freedom", not "very specific playstyle".
When it's actually a more niche PvP game (IE, not really a sandbox nor a themepark) that requires socializing and networking for everything, even the crafting. And everything else, including the crafting and the farming, is a backdrop to support the PvP.
End result is you have a whole bunch of people who tried to either play it like WoW or play it solo or play it like Farmville or play it for the PvE and end up sorely dissappointed.
Yes, But i cant in AA...

What is the point to any game? Hmm...??? As far as I can figure it out is to be doing something that you enjoy. ...Oh and without having to have to wait until you're level "30-40" before it becomes fun.......

Mmo is for FUN.
The wrong thing about this Mmo is it forces you to play without FUN.
I personally played it to find the HATE threads and indeed I find all the negative ever written about this Mmo is logical enough.
This particular Mmo lacks FUN.
However, If lot of players who are always found teaming and active guilds and the community eager to help you inside the game, then may be the game can be made playable.
I Soloed and hit 50 way faster due to a greater XP in Solo gaming. Solo path will be quest path with easy repeated kind of quests. You go from place to place and zone to zone changing armor and weapons and finally hit Hasla.
I didn't find any FUN and thus stopped playing. Even if it is a F2P, but the lack of labor points make the game very time consuming for a F2P. There are way better F2P with way more FUN elements than this Mmo.
Crafting might FRUSTRATE you and wash of the little GOLD you will get through Trade Runs.

What is the point in ANY game ??? (SARCASM)
1. FUN and you like playing it.
2. End game content or many team gaming options like RAIDS / Dungeons / Grind Mobs for stuff, ELSE there are plenty of single player games to quest your heart out.
3. Arena to test your character against other character and classes.
4. If it is a F2P, the game most probably had been designed to be impossible to be explored completely without REAL money. You can take the challenge of trying to over-write that design by playing smart.
What does ArcheAge provide as a point. (Heavy Chuckle)
1. Grind and Grind to get everything for your character. P2P makes the GRIND lower by providing GOLD for your labor point generation. Basically the labor points are the GOLD generators for you through trade run and etc.
2. End game is a MOBA (Multi-Player-Battle-Arena), In a MOBA we do not GRIND for a month or more to be better, we simply have everything that can be used and thus MOBA are fun short and way effective that way.
3. Decorate a HOME. You decorate the home to have no direct effects on your character. CRAFTING - "You Should Try That Part To Help Yourself Uninstall The Game. Crafting is too tedious. I have not seen that many games with this kind of a GRIND in it's crafting.
4. GUILD game play. You play ArcheAge not for yourself but for your GUILD to win. If you have that many friends who are willing to share the same gaming times with you and are ready to put in all the hours to make your GUILD win by playing and paying real money, ArcheAge is your game.
5. The game is missing FUN elements to it. PKing another player ( from your own faction or opposite faction) who is questing and is at half-health already through a STUN / SNARE / etc, if that is FUN then ArcheAge is your game.
Note:- "Anyone reading it who has found FUN playing ArcheAge. Please do let me know by doing exactly WHAT. I am at level 50 and I found no FUN getting there or being there but the GRIND that continues and makes it more TEDIOUS".

You can play a THEME-PARK wrong.
I never knew you can play a SAND-BOX wrong.
This statement proves that this game is nowehere a SAND-BOX nor a THEME-PARK, may be a hybrid mix which has limited to no FUN elements to it.

Thing is, Archeage isn't a theme park. A theme park has RIDES you go on (normally raids and other PvE quests and grinds, etc). In Archeage, the PvE pretty much becomes meaningless later on (not that it was even good anyways). Instead of going on "rides" for gear like theme parks, Archeage's upper tier gear is entirely crafted instead.
It's not really a sandbox either. Players go around thwacking each other in the open world, but you don't actually BUILD things like you would in a sandbox (like sancastles, etc). There's no player cities, player bars, no holding and maintaining territory (castles don't count. Those are once a week events, not actual world territorial chunks of the map), not much in the way of creating anything real in the world besides some temporary plants here and there, and very little to customize with your farm and not much significance with the house.
Thus even calling Archeage a sandpark is probably wrong. It's more like... I dunno, a social on-going vertical progression PvP game with a farmville system to support it Not sure what you'd call that. Arguably the lack of theme park meat or sandbox meat is one of the reasons why it can only hold a small niche population in other regions (and will likely be the same here).
cheaters are all maxed out and you get ganked ...can i pay for that ....nope not playing
its a game of cheat and its also ONLY FOR ARCHER LOVERS
keep defending it...its the most laggy and unstable of ALL the mmos i have played i give this a 2 rating style good luck its a piece a garbage
harrassment in safe zones form people running at you preventing vendor use....to chat spam, to bots to lag and disconnections FORGET THISONE....its dead
If you tell us whats your point on playing mmo, maybe we could help. Your point might not exist in AA, nothing wrong with that.
My point is interect with others while gain personal and group "power" and AA provide me a nice envoriment for that, it feels the other players really exist and its not only specters running around doing a copy of what im doing. When i want a solo nice story with a good voice acting i play TSW for example.
So lets make the question the other way around: whats your point of playing a mmo?
Too true.
This game needs to enable pirates and the opposite faction to loot the other sides farms. No farm should be safe from the other faction. Farm carts should be attackable as well. No more safe trade routes. If they did this it may bring the factions closer together, instead of the free for all it appears to be. Doing something like this may reduce the green PKers. The majority of my pvp deaths have been at the hands of my own faction.
Because there isnt a real PK punishment, the actual system is a joke imo:
- Players can PK forever and never become Pirates thanks to quests and potions.
- If i kill a purple player that didnt attack me i get criminal points, so i cant defend my group??
About no trade runs in safe, plz let things be like they are, risk vs reward is complete fine. Im not allways available to risk in pvp zones, sometimes i just want to relax even with less reward. I like to have options.
Isn't that sort of like a MOBA experience?
