lol why, you can basically run it on a potato and you use way too many abilities to make it viable to play it on a controller.

Meh, a couple more expacks should take care of that. Even with the current one, I can pretty much get all my abilities I'm interested in onto a single bar. Druid is tougher. Same goes for Warrior. DK could probably be on a controller right now, though.

UO has been around for 17 years now that doesn't mean its been very popular or relevant for the last 10 years. Basically yes as long as WoW making money it can survive along time even if they drop to bare bones life support.

So Blizzard can forsee 10 years into the future? Lol

OK let me fix it for you

10 more years *planned* - and those plans could change at any point, that's reality

Whenever someone tells you "guaranteed" - it means they are trying to sell you something.

Considering UO is still up and running so yeah another 10 years of WOW are guaranteed. Unless of course world ends before that.

I wonder what would you say if it was Trion in place of Blizzard talking about their games.

No it means 10 more years. Again, UO is still around that game has never had the population of WoW. It will be around for 10 more year at least and you if find that hard to believe then you are probably living under a rock.

Reality is it will without a doubt outlive Archeage. I did that one just for you DM.

Well I don't care a ps4 release but you can easily play it on a controller. I'm playing FFXIV on ps4. I'm using like 32 abilities with controller. It's a lot easier than you think. And actually it is A LOT more comfortable to play with it. Even on pc I play with an xbox controller all the time.

I doubt many console players who aren't already WoW players are gonna pay a sub to play a game that would probably be about 15 years old with 20 year old gfx by the time they could modify it enough to port it over.

Agreed. Unfortunatly theres nothing on the horizon that has a snowballs chance in hell of competing with WoD. The game is only getting more polished and more responsive even with updated models(though laughable imo).

If you love MMO's but hate WoW you mine as well find another hobby because no one could have predicted the level at which every other company has failed the MMO genre.

Huh! The first thing I thought of when I saw the title was UO.

I think the only thing that can actually shake up this 10 year plan is something like virtual reality gaming. Otherwise the course is pretty much set.

Well, ummm, yeah, they can predict the future.

Besides that, though, they've simply had a re-inventing of their model. See they've been trying to KILL WoW for the past 3 expacks. Now they're just exhausted and they are confident that they can't. WoW just WILL NOT DIE!!!! So now they're embracing that and actually trying to make it good again. 10 more years guaranteed, right there! Yup, I just saw your brain explode.

So one of the questions i would like answered is this: So we got an update to graphics to spruce things up a bit. But with Titan now failed, can they work on updating the entire engine to in turn update the graphics? I mean even CCP can do this and the game looks remarkably better than it did at launch by leaps and bounds. I would imagine being the most successful MMORPG in existance they have the money and manpower to do this if CCP could do it. Will they? Can They? I hope so i'd like to see a WoW with new graphics

What they really mean is they will continue to shaft the blind for as long as they can and have done so far or until some idiot finally comes along and buys it from them as they have been trying to offload it for years now and failed. Enjoy your new expansion with same old BS with new bells and whistles for another 6 months until we can make another one with nothing new or inventive to keep our shares up in Bli$$ard.

    Don't thinks so!!!

Well the only thing why I've played wow was the money - selling wintrade pvp boots to 2.8k for 120$ was good incomme per 2-3 hours job and some pve boost for downies who can't handle it themself. Everything else is stereotype garbage

This is it 100%. You just might as well say Blizzard controls this genre. Non of these other companies have a clue about mmo's. They just see the money. It wouldn't surprise me if in 10+ years its still on top.

  • delta9delta9 Member UncommonPosts: 358

it is called marketting - or do you really think if wow was losing money in 5 years for example they would keep it going for 5 more?

its like getting married, promises of "forever" that quickly change when something happens

just like those bad comedies that churn out year after year - terrible but people enmass love them so they keep getting churned out

quite happy for Blizzard to keep the wow generation in their subscription fold for as long as they can though! :)

  • Loke666Loke666 Member EpicPosts: 21,441

That Wow will be around as long as it keeps making money is hardly a surprise to any of us. 10+ more years is a prediction however, Blizzard would hardly keep it around if they actually lost money on it and we have no clue how the future will look.

Wow might still be around in even 20 years, but that really depends on new technology and if Wow can be adapted to it or not.

For example might all new MMOs be VR 5 or 10 years from now, and a VR game might use very different mechanics from the games currently around. If that became the norm then it could kill all older MMOs, but then again it might not happen at all, it might be too expensive for regular gamers or the technology might go somewhere else.

Or MMOs might be totally dead in a couple of years because someone else figure out a new more fun way to roleplay and combat together with your friends, something going in a completely different way from what we today call MMOs.

Predictions of the future are at best very unreliable and the only thing for sure is that Wow will stay around for the next few years and probably but not certainly for far longer.

A wise man once said : "The future is like the behind of a baboon, colorful and full of crap".

    Not sure if serious....

This is Blizzard, dude.  World of Warcraft.  You know, the Alpha MMO?  If they say they will be around 10 more years, guess what?  They'll be around 10 more years.    The only thing that shuts this game down is Blizzard.

It's probably the only MMO that gets to choose the way and the manner in which is turns off the lights.

I doubt that will happen anytime soon. I wouldn't mind it at all but there's not much market for WoW in console gaming, especially because of their engine since most console gamers (I said most, not all) tend to be graphics hoggers. Also there are a lot of abilities which would make it really difficult to play, although the recent ability pruning make it a higher possibility. Not saying it will never happen, we'll just have to wait and time will tell.
