Final Fantasy XI: More Faction Action Incoming

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

The Final Fantasy XI forum has been updated with the news that new NPC-run factions will be entering the game as part of the Unity Concord system that will be launching in game soon. Players will be able to find and support their favorite NPC's cause. Players will be able to chat in a special Unity chat room, run faction-specific content and much more.

  • Unity Accolades: Accolades can be earned by completing Unity-based Records of Eminence objectives. A small amount can be earned from non-Unity objectives and defeating certain monsters. The accolades can be used in a variety of ways, from participating in the Wanted battles described above to purchasing items, enhancing equipment found in Wanted battles, teleporting to Wanted battle staging areas, and more.

  • Unity Rankings: Unity rankings are tabulated and made public once per week (Earth time), with the order being decided based on how many points a unity’s members have earned that week. At higher rankings, equipment earned from Wanted battles increases in strength, so gather Unity members together and aim for even greater heights.

Hmmmm my 1st mmorpg ... so many memories and such a story that even single player games don't come close, but looking at all the new additions to the game is what keeps me far from it now days. No more unique and intersting story it looks like things went crazy and don't feel like it's continueing the same story but just random crap.

I'd have to agree. I played FFXI recently and was flabbergasted  at how much this game HATES new players. I don't mean it's difficult, I mean it's stupid. I've never seen a more clueless dev team intent on shooting themselves in the foot then the FFXI one, which is a huge shame since the game has actually preserved itself fairly well over the years but is ruined by overwhelming lack of SE decision making.

Despite unanimous player hate the game still has the abhorrent weakness proc system, unnecessary timers at every turn, a plethora of outdated quests forced on you, more currencies then Europe before the euro and class balance decisions that would make SoE scratch their heads(Samurai is literally the only dps job in this game atm). Do not touch this game, do not touch it with a 10 foot pole.

The sad part is they have been this clueless since launch. 80% of the classes in this game have been useless since launch, they just occasionally switch which ones are overpowered. The UI has been terrible since launch, macros horrible since launch, server ping disgusting since launch, clunky gameplay, forced into boring roles, etc, etc ,etc. The list could go on forever. The point is don't finance bad design and lazy development.

This game came out ages ago and the UI is based on Consoles not PC just an FYI. This game came out on PS2 first in Japan THEN on PC while PC came first in NA then PS2. Please understand that.
