SKIP the obligatory/mandatory main quest dungeon?

XepherdXepherd Member UncommonPosts: 105

Hello,

Quick question...

I have 2 level 18 characters and my wife has a level 18 character as well and we're both stuck at the main quest that requires us to do a dungeon (Sastasha). We hate dungeons in MMO's.

We unsubscribed because of this already in the past because we couldn't get a group after waiting 2 hours, and the dungeon itself can take 1 hour to complete, we're a couple with children and have no time to spend 3 hours in a row (plus it's not fun to wait 2 hours in front of a screen doing nothing but wait for a group)

We re-subbed thinking things would be different now, but in fact, they are worst! There is absolutely no way for us to get in a group to make this quest...we loved the game so far but this is a big problem for us.

I cannot believe that Square/Enix didn't think one instant that there are also "casual" MMO players out-here, who won't sit in front of a screen for 2 hours to get a group to advance a personal story? Where's the fun in that?

PLEASE...tell me that there is a way for us to skip the obligatory dungeon of the main quest, or "cheat" the system in some way so we don't have to do it and can resume playing as we did...

Thanks in advance for your help/answers!

/Xef

You could actively talk in chat to try to get a group for said dungeon. You are acting like a dungeon finder is the only way to get a party. Even as a casual player you can join a guild and ask for help since FFXIV actually has a system in place where if someone is a higher level it will scale it down to your level while in a dungeon with them. Usually any time I need to do a dungeon I can get one within 5 minutes by asking my guild or in chat because people tend to be really nice in FFXIV. You knew that was a part of the game going back into it, and still are complaining about it, but there are plenty of other ways to level. You don't necessarily have to do the main story, you can always go do fates, or leves, or the hunting log, or side quests. Or even level up another class like a tank or a healer so that you have a shorter dungeon finder queue if you don't want to try to find a group on your own, because with a tank or a healer it tends to be extremely short ~1 to 2 minutes on a lower population server.

Sorry Xepherd, been that way since release and I doubt it will ever change. There is no work-around to this system. This particular game has a heavy PvE focus with dungeons and guildhests, etc being the primary focus. You could craft your way to 50 on all the tradeskill jobs but to see the main story line you will have to have a combat class of some kind leveled to 50 and do mandatory dungeons along the way. Best bet is to find a Free Company for casual folks like yourself who can help you run the few dungeons you need for the story. Otherwise, this might not be the game for you.

you really are unlucky, not to say SE did right, but they introduced a DPS job that everyone is leveling now, so duty finder is a nightmare. however, try queuing as a tank ( mrd, war , gld, pld ) and your wife any class,  i can garuntee that 100% it will pop instantly not even 2 sec.

They introduced rogue  that is class for ninja job so every Tom,Dick and Harry,Mary,Jane and Jill are playing one. If you play a tank and healer you will get a group immediately,if you are playing DPS you sol. The dungeons itself are very quick, There is no skipping the main story grouping and it will get worse because you will need to do raids with 8 people in groups later on. So either switch and play the two needed classes or don't bother with the game.

Don't be upset that I am blunt but you need to play the classes that the game groups needs to get groups. That is the reality. If you think I am being awful and discouraging I'm just telling it as it is. Frankly it is one of the best things about this game the group content.

Don't roll a tank unless you know the dungeon like the back of your hand, the elitists in this game are very unforgiving.

The problem right now is that ninja was just released so everyone and their mom is leveling it. Everyone is joining duty finder as DPS so there is a severe lack of tanks and healers.
Switch to a healer and then join DF with your wife, it will help a lot.

No, roll a tank and if you come across an elitist jerk DPS put him back where he belongs: the queue. As a tank you have the power over everyone else, so don't be afraid to put it to good use. You are the God of the Duty Finder. However don't become a jerk yourself either lol.

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".
