Not necessarily pointless from their perspective. Some are doing it for revenge against a company they feel swindled them in some way or let them down (or both). Paying $150 for a founder's pack only to have your head start ruined by qeues can leave you rather annoyed and (IMHO justifiably) blaming the company at fault, for example. Paying and subbing expecting a clean game without hackers but believing the company failed to uphold its duty to get rid of the hackers is another way someone could feel anger and desire vengeance.
Alternatively or more optimistically, it might be for the nobler reason of trying to save others from the same fate. Informing them of how bad the game is and to not waste their time and money because they too might end up with a similar experience. Or maybe it's an attempt to reveal these shady practices to the MMO playerbase at large, in hopes of deterring companies from doing them in the future now that people know of such things.
I followed Archeage for years since it was only a dream in Korea, couldn't wait til it got out, then played and played and played... but didn't have fun. I don't agree with the way Trion setup shop, but don't need to bash Trion for all their games. Rift is actually one of the best MMO's I have ever played. I do give them props for that game

was saying cash shop are crap and p2p game are better since 2 year ago when they started....
everyone was saying blablablabla better f2p that free, well guys... they are free ?? you need experience them for understand sadly they usualy cost 3-4x more to enjoy and you never stop to pay real money if you realy want to enjoy them.
f2p have started because people are dumb and stupid and they dont realise the games are not realy free...
i never started archeage... did not waste my time lol...
im happy more and more people start to wake up from this shit... nothing free, you are better paying 12$ months and got everything, and plz dont name me the 3-4 games who got a good f2p system.....
