It's a less than a week before finally the latest expansion arrives, especially after a very long period without new raids. So, it's fair to make an official and proper poll for the community to see where we stand with World of Warcraft today. I expect very low numbers to buy this expansion and that will just show how things are much more different for Blizzard in 2014.
Maeby after this expansion they will step up and show bigger competitiveness to attract the millions of lost subs as well as attract, create new market with better prices/deals, faster and bigger content and so forth.

I preordered, did not see that option on your poll.
I am having a blast again. Got together with some old friends and preparing for WoD. I was on the fence about the level 90 boost, but not anymore. It is actually genius. I usually start a new toon for every expansion and get burned out from the leveling before I even get to endgame. Now I can have my alts and raids too! I am really looking forward to this expansion.
I bought it and I have stayed away from the beta. If history repeats itself, I'll play for a couple months, cancel my sub and return just before the next Xpac 21 months or so later.
I think WoW is mismanaged, because even though they make the big bucks, I believe they lose a lot more.

Very weird to not buy a WoW xpac after all these years, but I just can't bring myself to do it.
Preordered, after i quit almost 5 years ago. Everyone i played with is long gone. This is the craziest sh*t.
I plan to Play WoD for 30 days then spend the next 21 months playing for free on the PTR whenever I get an itch to play.
Preordered it. I just can't wait, 7 more days! Not sure if you're buying but if you are have fun in Draenor.
The "Will not buy" are probably mostly non WoW players. I do understand your prediction, but I'm going to have to disagree. I can safely say that at least 80% of my guild (large active guild) has already preordered their copies and boosted a 90.
I guess time will tell, but I also know many people who are actually returning to the game, players who haven't played since WoTLK. Also remember the fact that Mists is now included in their BChests, which is definite to increase sales for sure.
Yup, the poll is pretty much useless on this site, since people who don't play the game, or have never played the game, can still vote.
What a flawed opinion and these people are not part of this MMO market/community, thus their vote should be not credited? If there is a game or MMO they rather play, spend their time and $ on than WOW that is equal as "will not buy it" bottom line.
If people are smart, they will wait until the $5 battle chest sale (offered every Christmas time) and then get WoD. Battle chest includes 30 days of game time, free boost to 90 with the expansion and poof, you've spent $10 less than everyone else for the same thing.
I've been gone since the beginning of Cata and WoD will not make me resubscribe.
WoW is and still remains a linear on-rails-questing lobby game, and WoD will only bring more "rides" to queue for this themepark.
I'm happily playing WoW 1.12.1 in somewhere else.
So "nay" for my part.
+1. I still don't understand why people call it free to play. No game I've ever played has been free to play. They usually end up costing more than pay to play in the end.
went back to wow after about 4 years (last log in time was 2010) and my god i didnt think they could dumb the game down even more but they have.
talent trees gone, upgrading spells, hell it seems like they took a ton of the spells away too.
Incorrect, anyone who purchases the WoD expansion pack gets a free character boost to 90. You don't have to pre-order.
Free to play is the marketing term.
Free to try.
You're asking if people are going to buy a specific expansion for a game. Obviously someone who doesn't have the base game and previous x-packs can't just buy WoD and start playing it, yet they can still vote on your poll, which makes it flawed. It would be like if I ran a condominium complex, and asked people to vote on whether or not they'd buy a jacuzzi upgrade for their bathroom. But instead of only polling the residents of the complex, I asked everyone in the town. What would be the point? I don't care if Joe Blow who owns a house down the street would or wouldn't buy my jacuzzi upgrade, he doesn't live in the complex so his opinion is irrelevant.
[mod edit] If you don't wanna pay for the game's expansions and subscription fees, then let it go and move on with your life. No amount of polling and complaining is going to make the game go free to play, regardless of how much weight you think your opinion carries.
you need another category which is Already bought it. I did like a month ago.
z.
If all now it's cheaper than ever for new players to buy the game and all of it's expansions for what $10-15 extra on top a boosted character with professions all the way to max level? Also the "specific" expansion which you refer to sadly is not your typical expansion you see in other MMO's where you can still play and enjoy most of the game without being forced to buy the expansion.
So let me clarify it to you for the last time, the EXPANSION IS THE GAME in World of Warcraft. Sure, there might be some individuals out there who might be still paying a sub and never need to upgrade to a single expansion, but I doubt they are even at 1%. This is also related to the big spikes in sub activity before and after a content/expansion. Then you are also comparing one thing with completely different thing as in apples and oranges.
I don't see much difference between choosing to buy the product 1 month, 2 weeks, 1 week before launch or on launch as long as you've bought it. Anyways, you cannot play/use it until the set date (launch). But thx for your imput. I find polls with few, but definite and clear choices much more better for statistics.
Except you get some of the rewards right away, including the 90 boost.
Personally, I would find the number of preorders as opposed to purchases at launch more interesting than who isn't going to buy it.
Which is exactly why this thread seems to be mostly targeted at current WoW players, since most people DO have to buy all previous expansions (Battle Chest) before buying WoD.
Also, never said that the people who do not play WoW do not matter in this pole, I just thought current/returning players (7m subs or whatever) are a more relevant statistic to measure when you predict that the game will make "less sales".
Nay for me!
But i read Kungen from Nihilum is getting back including some other vanilla heroes from Burninglegion/ Magetheridon servers.
