5 reasons I never left WoW.

GravargGravarg Member UncommonPosts: 3,424

I've played WoW almost 10 years non-stop now.  I've had a subscription with WoW since launch except for ~3 months over that time period.  It wasn't that I left never to return doing those 3 months, it was that I had other things in real life to do.  But the other thread of while they'll never return prompted me to make this thread :)

1. The Lore

The Warcraft Franchise is chalked full of lore, so much that it's almost impossible to know it all.  I'm definitely a lore addict, and I'm drawn to games that have lots of it.

2. Friends, Guildmates, and even the Community.

I have many friends that still play the game after all these years.  Some haven't played as long as me, but that's ok.  I'm always having a great time.  Some of the community is toxic, but it's nowhere near as bad as some games, i.e. ArcheAge.  Even when people are trolling or doing whatever, it still makes me laugh.

3. Price

I forgot where, but somewhere I read if you include sub-fees, every mount/pet in the store, and expansions over the last 10 years, you paid about $19 a month.  I play WoW more than I watch TV, and my TV bill is a lot higher than $19 a month.  Also as many compare it to movies, a movie ticket where I live is around $8-9, so to have a family night out you're looking at about $200 with dinner included.

4. Content

There simply isn't another MMO with more content than WoW.  There is always something you can do.  If you get tired of raiding or questing, there are many other things you can do at almost any level.  There's a lot of it, and most of it is fun and rewarding.

5. Fun Factor

When I'm in WoW, I'm rarely not having fun.  The occasional corpse camping by a group of people can be annoying, but I still have fun and laugh at them while 5 guys beat up on 1 lol.  I've never gotten so many hours of fun out of a game.  My druid just hit over 400 days /played the other day. Most of my alts are at least 50+ days.  It's all because of how fun the game is...and that I usually don't log off lol.  I even have fun while fishing.  While fishing for the rare fish achievement, I spent a little over 8 hours fishing in the lake by Bloodhoof Village.  I had a good time doing that and it was even more fun when I had a gm appear and ask me if I was alive or a bot lol....then surprisingly after 5 more casts I caught the rare fish lol.  Victory laps insued :)

There's just simply nothing better than WoW.  There may be some that are more fun, there might be some that are better looking, but overall there's nothing better.

We really should get David Letterman to do a top 10 list on WoW before he steps off the stage forever...

Played it for 2 months and will never come back.

Soloed til cap in 1 week through boring quest chains -> sat my @ss in town in queues for the next instances and BGs over and over, got bored within 2 months.

The pvp in this game is pointless: grind you grear. The world pvp here is also meaningless. Sorry but this game is too casual for me, maybe it is cool if you have only 2 hours a week to play.

Not to mention the faction system, I hate factions, don't like the idea of forcing two or three enemy sides. I prefer when the own players make their own alliances and enemies(including the choice to remain neutral), no factions.

If responding to the other thread, there's no need to make a counter thread. That just splits the discussion into multiple places. You can respond within the thread instead.
