Congratulations all. We're celebrating giving a company $250 million!!
Woohoo! Aren't we special!?
More celebrating the power of crowdfunding when gamers pitch in to make something possible that wasn't being done by those with the big bucks and big resources. Now they have big bucks and big resources they are making the big game we want with. gg us!
As more and more time goes on it becomes more and more obvious why CR was turned down by all the publishers prior to trying out kickstarter. I bet every person who made the decision not to get involved with him receives a beefy bonus each year that this fiasco continues...
How anyone can look at what CIG have done and say with a straight face that it's $300 million well spent is beyond me.
Now they have big bucks and big resources they are making the big game we want with. gg us!
They don't though. The money is being spent as fast (actually faster) than it comes in. There is no warchest, no rainy fund, no nest egg. It's a project built on a house of cards.

You are normally more objective. In the last 12 months - using numbers from this thread - they have raised c. $45M. If they have 450 people working on the game we can guesstimate that they are - now - covering their costs. More likely that they have a handle on spend vs. money raised / projected.

I thought they were up to 500 and since we can only see the UK numbers we can only guess how much they are spending on the US side. All we know is that in previous years they have been spending more then they have been taking in and as a result Chris sold 10% of the company to bail them out.
If we see Chris sold another stake in the company then we know they needed another bailout.

They may be up to 500 - I don't know. Even if its 500 now have they had an average of 500 for the last 12 months etc. As you say though - and I agree - we don't "know" what they are spending on the US side. Hence why I said that more likely they now have a handle on spend vs. money raised / projected.
If however they were at 500 staff and funding fell and they had to reduce to 450 then (nominally) that would only mean a slow down of 10% of however long development had to go. Could they live with that? Probably.
As you say though if another stake in the company was to be sold - before launch - that would imply that the money being raised wasn't enough. (Selling post-launch different.)

This might beat the funding record in a year once again, 34million this year just needing to beat 37.7m until the end of the year.
Against the usual expectation on the project's funding health
