General: Overwatch: Blizzard's First New IP in 17 Years, Beta in 2015

During the opening ceremonies at the 2014 Blizzcon convention, it was announced that Overwatch would be joining the Blizzard stable of games. It is a cooperative team-based shooter and the beta is expected to kick off in 2015. The team released a game play video to show off the wonder of its new game as well as a cinematic trailer.

    Im sure it will be a sold game but been there done that.

    It seriously looks like TF2 meets Super MNC. Eh.

    Looks awesome, especially thanks to the sort of superhero-esq look to it.

     

    Also it has a dwarf by the name of Thorbjörn... That is a win right there.

     

    And it looks fun as heck... A bit like destiny.. but without all the angst and panda paint.

    I can see them going for the same route as with the Warcraft series. Warcraft ---> establish strong universe and lore ---> loyal fan base ---> MMO.

    Style looks just like Firefall. Game-play looks a bit more creative compared to FF.

    Playing: varies every day it seems.

    Tf2 meets firefall with a flare of wildstar.

    and many of the characters reflect their current game franchise characters(except the ape)....FPS...no thanks.

    I think this is what is left of Titan wrapped up into something else.

    Won't judge Overwatch until I've played it but I did have an initial reaction.

    Mercy & Widowmaker are the coolest characters by far.

    More games always good for the players, sadly more does not equal = better and Blizzard is another proof of that. I still rather play my class Counter Strike for my FPS needs.

    Saw the trailer and got VERY excited thinking this was somehow Wildstar meets Gi Joe meets City of Heroes.

     

    Then saw the actual gameplay and saw that it was a FPS and not a MMO......meh

    Given what is know about Titan (like what that site linked earlier mentioned), it defintively got turned into Overwatch. Heck, they even kept the triangle and angled stripes that is seen on that one image, turning it into a triangle over/under V and A.

    Looks fun, but we'll see how it turns out.

    And talking about turning it into an MMO any time soon now that they turned the MMO into a team-based FPS is a bit stupid IMHO.

    No, because they were not Titan. Which was supposed to be a new MMO. Too risky a move so it's smarter for them to test the waters this way.

    Looks solid but I don't think it will get a large following.

    Team shooter is a very over-saturated market and it looks like this doesn't bring anything different

    TF2 = Classes with different abilities playing capture the flag / control the point

    Overwatch = Heroes with different abilities playing capture the flag / control the point

    From looking at the videos, is this an MMO or a FPS PVP shooter. One thing I liked about Firefall is the nice blend of shooter and PVE MMO (downside to Firefall is the complete lack of post max level activities). Aim and shoot is a welcome addition to the MMO world. If this is a shooter PVE/PVP MMO, then I will give it a shot.

    That what I thought too. It has FF great mix of FPS and skill usage. Of course it lacks FireFall's verticality. 

     

    I"ll be watching for this one. Hater gonna hate but Blizzard can make a fun game.

    From what mmo-champs has on it comp. pvp only. It's not an MMO.

    we got it already dude , you do not have to keep repeating this every time , it seems that you want to convince yourself or something ...
