So much real raw emotion - makes folks feel alive!
Also loving the TS tree market crash - oh so many folks are PISSED - hahahaha
Well played Trion!
Why in the world is that a good thing?
I imagine from DMKano's perspective, it's because it happened in Archeage. And Archeage can do no wrong. Because Archeage can do no wrong, anything that happens in Archeage, including "so many folks being PISSED", must be a good thing!
Hey, I don't have a problem with DMKano. I don't always agree with him or his arguments but I'm not one to join the masses heaping abuse on him. But I really am puzzled why anyone considers crashing the TS market a good thing.
TS trees until yesterday, had a special place in the game as they were an internal in-game lottery of sorts that was separate from the cash shop lotteries. They are needed components for some desirable items such as farm carts, farm wagons and some ships and their rarity ensured that those items were prized possessions. As I see it, the new overabundance of these trees sort of trivializes owning those items for no particular reason.
I have guildies that have planted 3 16 X 16 plots with pine trees exclusively since release and have had 1 TS tree... that's how rare they were. I had one myself quite early and it was like Christmas and my Birthday rolled into one.
The 1000 to 1200g AH price also made them a semi-viable way to pay for gear and even patron status. This is now gone and, I suspect, is the reason behind Trion deliberately crashing its market.
But I'm having a hard time understanding why anyone outside of XL or Trion's corporate offices would think this is a good thing, much less laugh about it.

This makes it more difficult for land barons to continue to maintain patron status by filling their land with trees. Also, anyone that relied on APEX in-game won't get the 10% credit bonus since it sounds like it only applies to raw credit purchases.
Playing - FFXIV, ESO Played - FFXI, WoW, Lineage 2, Guild Wars, Aion, SWToR, LotRO, GW2, TERA, Rift, ArcheAge, TSW
You all knew what you were getting into when you bought items and played the game. Why do you all act surprised? It is not a bad game, just don't play it for a farmville sim, or maybe, just maybe get into a good guild that helps each other out?
Call me a fan boy, but I enjoy my time and experience with Archeage. Do I feel cheated after I bought my way into alpha, beta and what not? Not really, I feel I have got my monies worth and then some. If you hate the game so much, back charge and stop playing, if you enjoy the game, then keep playing, you do not need to spend a dime to get patron status.
HUH? Sorry to break your bubble, but you need to at least subscribe to be a patron.
Hilarious commentary on a company on the fast track of a very downward trend. Fat chance many of us will ever spend a dime on their products!

Well, going by another thread, given that Kano has always been a staunch supporter of Trion for its other games as well while simultaneously bashing non-Trion games (to the point where he's even trying to downplay the fact that Trion's servers were apparently hacked), there's always the possible chance that "anyone outside of XL or Trion's corporate offices" doesn't actually include DMKano...
Im part of the player base who couldnt log in to the game until all the land was taken but honestly I didnt want land in auroria I have 4 16x16 farms touching eachother in rockbourne I wasnt as affected as a lot of players were and I feel bad for them as having land is a big part of the game and if you were ready to go for auroria all pumped to get land then you cant log until its all gone I can imagine you might even quit over that frustration.
That being said and how I didnt really care the sad fact is I am super bored of the games current content. Aur didnt really add much at all, I already have my t3 hasla stuff and gha sets there is nothing to do but grind coin purses or work trades its pretty stale and I look forward to checking out wow xpac and maybe trion can roll out more content to bring me back in the future I plan to keep patron / land going while I play wow I do think the game has potential just right now its not enough to hold me.
There's unfortunately a lot of the attitude, "I don't care that you've worked your arse off for a month to get one thunderstruck tree and it's now worthless. I think Trion's brilliant that they've now added one of the rarest things to the cash shop to get for zero effort, as now I can get one".
When half the server has farm wagons, fishing boats, hasla T3 and galleons, what will they want next? How much gold will everyone be making and how high will prices go on the AH? What Trion did was a short term solution to the way they mismanaged the game. In a few weeks, prices will start to rise and soon new players will be priced right out of the game. Apex has already risen on my server from 100 to 140 gold in two days. Imagine how much harder it will be for the new F2P players to earn enough gold to buy a farm wagon so they can content with the new high prices...

Anything that uses TS will likely have a lower price than before thanks to cheaper TS (other mat costs will rise though, of course)
APEX will definately go up though, as will most other things from the increase in gold, albeit perhaps not as quickly thanks to farms now producing other things besides trees (lumber might skyrocket in price if that happens, though). The increase in APEX value will also put more power in the hands of the casher and make it more expensive for anyone to buy cash shop items without paying... well, cash.B
Anything which requires Archaeum will be in the same boat as anything that requires TS trees. Ditto for sun and moon crystals. Albeit possibly to lesser extents, depending on how many come in relative to how many are needed compared to how many TS trees come in to what's needed.
The most likely result is that most of the things you could acquire through in-game actions that don't involve player trading will likely be in most peoples' hands, but anything requiring cash shop items from there will be harder. This includes things that benefit heavilly from cash shop items like regrade levels.
Overall, it benefits cashers more than it benefits others, and encourages more people to spend cash because many sources of income from playing the game (thunderstruck tree hunting, archaeum) are now better acquired with cash instead.
....which probably is why Trion did it in the first place.
Nice bait-and-switch there on the supposed "10% discount on Marketplace purchases" for patrons. If they can do this so blatantly, what are they likely to do in the future ?
This benefit has been conspicuously absent ever since launch, but Trion promised (after some vigorous prompting) that it would be introduced Soontm
Turns out what it actually means is a 10% discount on Credit Pack (marketplace credits) purchases !
OK, so unless you are buying Apex and only spending those credits, what's the difference?
The 10% discount was announced as a perk for Patrons, who I'd assume would not be folks buying Apex (unless they buy them with credits to resell to F2P). So why would a 10% discount on credit packs not be the same as a 10% discount on purchases?
Maybe my math is off. Or maybe your bloodlust is inappropriate?
My assumption is that this is a way for them to insulate XLGames from the 10% discount -- Trion sells the credit packs, but XLGames probably receives the income from the cash shop directly. This was likely their compromise to a veto on the 10% perk on the cash shop from XL Games.
You guys can't see anything from a business perspective can you. You mad bro? Blood clouds your vision. Man up.

The difference is that for the first time ever, with no prior warning and contrary to the clear implication of a reasonable simple reading of what they promoted when they were focused on selling bundles of goods (founders and starter packs) they are now saying that credits bought directly are a different type of credit, that go 10% farther than the credits that were sold as part of bundled packages... capice?
Obviously simple mindedness can cloud visions even more than blood.

A £5 credit pack with a 10% discount gets you 1250 credits to spend.
With the new 10% bonus, it gets you 1238 credits to spend.
So not only are your credits worth less now, you may have to spend on an extra credit pack to get an item you could get before with one.
This is completely disregarding the utter disgrace of not applying any bonuses to credits from founder/starter packs, or credits bought before head start, that were advertised and sold as including the discount. Something very much illegal.
