Makes me wonder: Are you working freelance or are there actually companies out there taking jobs praising or bashing mmo's? You've certainly done your fair share of bashing other games in the past, and your praise for AA reaches unreal levels
Not just AA but also rift defiance and trove are all the best games ever according to him which makes it crystal clear who he works for. Forums now days are propaganda of devs to sell the quick cash grab garbage available to us.
Really? Defiance was outright terrible.
I've never thought of him like that. Just someone who extremely (strangely?)Loyal to a developer. That post makes me wonder a little I do admit though.
I would generally agree with you but then there is loyalty and then there is 'this'. It really makes me wonder sometimes because it is not just in case of Trion but also on FFXIV and GW2 forums there are couple of posters who only and only post to do either PR or damage control.
So to believe that companies hire people to plant stories on mmorpg.com wouldn't be far fetched.
What you do is create a shell corporation that owns both sides of the market, you bash the one side and everyone buys the other side, then flip and do the opposite. In the end, you get 100% of the sales, only the consumers think they've made a choice to support one product over another.
If you are a big seller in any market and the internet is still running, it would be impossible to hide your identity and the companies you run. Might get away with it for a little bit, but it always comes out. If consumers do their research, they'll catch the rotten egg.
The "poor consumer" idea is a farce in a free market. Everyone has a choice and they make it....they sometimes shit where they sleep as well, but it was the consumer's responsibility not to.
Anyone trying to make money will do just that. Why would they do anything else???

What you've described is social marketing. And yes it happens on this site too.
I am sure it does - again lol at anyone thinking that I work for any game company or am making money from any social site.
It would be awesome if I did - but sadly no.
I lol everytime someone tries to form the conspiracy that another poster is hired by said company...If I remember I was actually accused of this about a Funcom game...unfortunately, I don't work for them either....wish I did, as Im sure you worked for XL or Trion.
The closest I get is having friends who work at Blizz NCsoft and Trion and ZoS as well as some smaller indie studios.
Well thank you for being honest, this was one of the questions I asked you earlier in another post (although to be fair it was minutes before you posted this). I can see why you were previously active in the Elder Scrolls Online forum, but to you see this "active" on these forums really raised a red flag. Usually when you see this level of defending it ends up being in 3 categories:
A. They work for the company.
B. They have family or friends that work for said company.
C. There is a strong historical IP behind the game: This can come on the form of movies, single player games, table top games, card games, cartoons/anime, etc. This can range from FFXIV to Age of Conan.
D. This might fall into example B but with a twist. People who have become "friends" with moderators/developers/etc. solely through the official forums. One good example of this was TERA Online.
Obviously there are other cases, but most fall into those 3. But you rarely if ever see this type of white knighting in a Korean game, especially one that has no history. The few that I've seen defending at your level on the official forums are the ones that admittedly spent thousands of dollars, or are one of the leaders that owns one of the castles Auroria... but the sad truth is even the last example barely holds any weight since some of these very people have posted in the official forums (or Reddit) that they will be selling their accounts or have been whistle-blown by their members or officers.
One last tidbit, I don't see anyone defending NCSOFT, I've barely seen anyone defend them in anything in the past couple of years, NCWEST maybe... but they honestly don't have any say in almost anything.

I never posted anything on AA forums - the only forums I post on are reddit and MMORPG.
I don't even have an official forum account - never bothered to create one.
Also I am just a MMO gamer - I wish I was making money off making posts lol - that would be like getting paid for nothing heh.
Money for nothing and the chicks for free!
I can't even open that link - asking me for a login which I don't have on this tablet - I'll have to check this out on my PC later.
Hmmmm, it seems they've suddenly deleted the thread, it was just locked up untill now... That doesn't help my tin foil feeling one bit

EDIT: Added example D.
then there is example E: Imma fanboy....I fall under this category for all games Funcom....I've never played a bad one and will support and stick up for the company til I die. I know nobody in the gaming industry and have never touched the industry as far as employment goes.
As for Kano, he likes the dang game enough to defend it at all costs...don't really think that's ground for conspiracy....and this is coming from someone that hates Archeage...but I know people that hate Funcom too....
im so glad my sub ends at the end of this month.....
i got banned from there forum for complaining about lag....
dc's etc....
well instead a ten apex and a sub they get....ZERO....i've moved on
heres what i want in a open world mmo....
some kinda player housing where i get a house or tower or whatever....
maybe some pve missions daily or weekly that involve it( see kingdoms of amalour :reckoning)
in game mods that can go after botters and cheaters.Perhaps a graduated system where a user gets deputized?
a chat system that you earn priviledges on ....that also has in game mods watching everything said....no censoring unless its harrassment..swearing et all is just part of gaming and frustration....
a support network that understands peopel get frustrated and have bad times now and then instead of just the quick lets ban this so we dont have to hear it syndrome.......after all people like myself play your games far more , we get to know more, you devs should be listening more.....
pvp needs to get far more balanced in AA its all about whom proly cheated and got away with it...
no ones doing it cause its very one sided....
a pve plot and story and crafting that doesnt take 50 billion years to do.
ease up on animations in housing so as to lesson lag....
a guild or "order" or whatever that actually is helpful....
something i can enjoy for hours at a time rather then sit around pulling my hair out bored.....
there are no games that entail this all to my knowledge.....that are mmos....and open world.
let me know world when its happening ..ill sub
and now after several years and about 12 mmos i can say i actually like bits of every one of them....it wold be sooo sweet if we cold take all the best aspects into one....i fear however that patents and ip and pride would not let all that to ever happen.
oh and apologies on spelling my letters on keyboard are rubbing all off....cheap keyboard LOL

Well it seems he is willing to defend ArcheAge at all costs, and is only willing to accept the game as P2W if all other games are P2W as well.
It raises more a red flag than anything else when someone is willing to defend a Korean game using extreme examples like the one above (i.e. has no IP or historical background whatsoever to have any previous long term emotional attachment). But at least he was honest enough to say he does have friends that work at TRION, ZOS, and some indie studios as well.
So he does fall into category B... there is no longer any need for conspiracy theories or guessing games. That may or may not be the #1 reason he defends the game or at the very least the attachment of the term P2W to it, but it may be a strong enough emotion to have him respond/defend the way he has been.
Had the game been released by XL Games themselves or some other company like Nexon (i.e. leaving TRION completely out of the equation) I would find it hard to believe that DMKano would go to great lengths at defending the game.
Don't forget what this thread is supposed to be about.
Someone claims to have found a reproducible method in game of crashing any of it's servers.
They want to report this to the company but there are two problems.
First, getting their attention so they'll do something, preferable sooner rather than later.
And second, they are afraid of possible retaliation for having crashed the servers 3 times from discovering and verifying this issue.
I know he says he's a fan of the game, and his wanting this verified and fixed is right in line with that idea.
However, his fear of retaliation/punishment by the company is something that should spark a lot of comment from people, rather than whining about whether or not someone is a company shill on the forum.
People, we have two possible issues here posed by the poster.
There may be a bug that allows users to crash the servers.
and
The users are afraid of the company.
Ok, I'll stop repeating that, but only if it's sunk into those skulls of the ones flinging wild non-relevant accusations at each other. (Who am I kidding, those guys will probably keep at it for another 4 pages before someone locks the thread.)

To be honest you're starting to sound a lot like a frying pan talking about a kettle ....I find it hard to believe anyone would spend more than 10 minutes or one post in a forum worrying about a game they don't like or play

Eeeeh, competitors don't need to hire shills to come bash Archeage. Trion's doing a very very good job of getting people to do that, themselves. Just take a gander at the official forums...

He went as far as to give me an illegal example of buying high level characters for thousands of dollars (MMOs that exclusively use the P2P model).

I defend Trion but that's because I play a lot of Rift; the devs show up really well in that game.
