Glad I stayed away. I was asked about the game and I said it did not appeal to me. I could look at the game and it appeared to be one that money rules all from the pre-alpha videos.
I am disappointed that Trion is doing the things it is. Makes me worry about giving them any money. I just feel this is one of those where they tried to satisfy the customers with all the content as quickly as possible but that meant they did not take the time to make sure everything worked including any game plans for things being wrong.
Glad I did not jump on the hype train on this one. After reading all the events and other stuff I bet Blizzard must be thinking we cannot go wrong ,even when others release before our expansion they practically force them back to us. They will be grinning from ear to ear.
Some of us tried to warn you people in their main forums during beta and in these forums during beta but we were met with not only resistance but full on fanboyism. It's one thing to take pride in a game and to yes stop haters from making terrible posts trolling something but when we generally take the time to point out all of the flaws in a game before the game launches and to let people know that this isn't the same Trion team that we were all used to, you gotta sit back and listen sometime. Here's a great example, just before this game launched some of the same people involved in this game took a look at the system used in Defiance to progress and decided it was losing too much money with it's already RNG riddled system with 0 auction house and made it harder for people to get gear without paying real money! When I and other pointed this out in their main test forums fanboys were all up in arms accusing us of wearing tin foil hats. Well there you have it folks, I hope those of you who were ignorant enough to not listen to our warnings are now eating your words. So the next time people who are generally concerned over the direction of the game that's about to come out, actually spend the time to beta test and tell you how bad it is will you people listen next time or will you continue to blindly fanboy? Not everyone who reports on games in forums is a hater!
Had fun for my first 6 weeks but once I hit max level and consistently run out of labor so my only choice in the game is PvP the game lost that lovin feeling. Unsubbed on Sunday.

Blizzard devs must be rubbing their hands in pleasure. I am with you I am glad I didn't buy into this game, but I had previous experience with Defiance so it didnt take my surprise.
I see people posting on here that the reason this game is a heaping pile of poo is because the players wanted them to rush Auroria out, are you serious? This game has been out in Korea for over 2 years.
There has also been mention of the issue being due to the "westernization" of this game, really, other than translated text what "westernization" has been done? The NPC's still speak Korean for christs sake... lol
This game was nothing more than a cheap cash grab for Trion and a last ditch effort from XL to make up for AA flopping in Korea. The entire model for AA has revolved around ridiculous pricing schemes (i.e... $150 for Alpha access, labor system, APEX, etc) and a complete lack of concern from both Trion and XL.
I do have to say I now realize why Trion was so reluctant to add extra servers at launch... They realized it was only a matter of time until people would bail from the game leaving low pops across most realms.
Wow. This game would've been great with the basic BUY THE GAME + MONTHLY FEE / NO CASH SHOP rule set. The perfect example of the best/worst game ever.
Yup.
This game failed because of the cash shop. Every game has mistakes at release and people would have ultimately looked the other way here. But the money grubbing is simply too much. Straight sub and its the 2nd most popular MMO in the West still.
If i could stay connected for more than 10-15 minutes due to some unexplained changes done on Oct 21st, I would maybe give a $hit. What bothers me most and has soured me on this game is the complete lack of knowledgeable support. All I get from them are idiotic suggestions insinuating the problem is with my system and/or how I'm running the game when in fact it's fairly straight forward who needs to figure things out...Trion/XLGames. Game runs fine for 12+ hours at a time...patch issued on 10-21...game locks/freezes and goes unresponsive requiring opening the device manager to get out of the game..it is now November 11 and still nothing has been done to correct this situation.
If there was more freedom as to were you placed your farm/residence, ie anywhere out in the countryside. I would continue to play. If I could be completely none combat oriented from start to finish I would continue to play. I'm tired of MMOs where I am too restricted in what I do to progress my character.

This issue you would run into with this game even if it were pay to play is that subscribers would not tolerate Trion's customer support. Waiting on web chat for 5 + hours to speak to someone or waiting 2 weeks to get a reply back from a support email is not acceptable.
Not to mention that if you take out the cash shop the game becomes one big huge grindfest with no way to make it faster which also wouldn't go over that well in the west.

Epic.
I just went out quietly with the standard unistall of every Trion product.
Originally posted by DMKano The Auroria fail only happened on NA servers - EU servers never got the bad Auroria patch so Trion waited to get the fix from XL before rolling Auroria out to EU.
I'm on EU and can't login in game, wtf are you babbling about?
Are you writing to us from the past? The Auroria launch went pretty smoothly on Kyprosa from what I saw.
Elements of the game are fun but the arguments about what's wrong are pretty spot on.
Personally, I'm glad to see TS prices come down so I can plan new acquisitions I could never afford. I'm glad to see the price of labor pots and APEX rise, since I pay for them with my hard-earned cash. And though my guild was not successful getting a castle, I'm glad for those whose hard-won efforts yielded great rewards.
With the opening of Auroria, AA has become more of a political, PvP game. While the PvE elements are very engaging at times, I won't be subbing once my patron runs out. I like that I can give away or sell my house and small farm to folks who are just dying to own one. I like that I can transition to life on a boat and not worry about being a patron. And having done that, I will like being able to log in every month or two and sail around for the sheer pleasure of it.

Originally posted by Rhoklaw My time playing this game during ALPHA was such a breath of fresh air. No cash shop, no F2P players. If Wildstar and ESO can start their MMO's off as P2P games, I don't see why this game couldn't. That's why F2P games are the worst style of monetization. Allow F2P scumbags access to a game, PvP focused none the less as well as easy access for gold farmers to spam indefinitely. Then implement cash shop items that utterly destroy 2 of the basic key fundamental mechanics in the game, LABOR and CRIMINAL / INFAMY points. Trion and XL Games may have just succeeded at being the first in turning one of the greatest sandpark games into a F2P pile of shit.
I look at it this way.
TRION took a gamble thinking the NA MMOG market was ready for the Asian P2W cash shop model.
I'd say the site has been far too complimentary about Trion in the past. But it's pretty clear now that on practically every forum site there is out there, people are pissed off with Trion and the handling of the game, and are leaving in droves. I'd say mmorpg.com can't afford to support a game or company that is going downhill, has extensive bad press, has broken laws, and treated itss paying customers so appallingly -- at least if it wants to maintain any credibility as independent.
As others have said, this game as a sub-only game would have been something else entirely. But Trion got greedy, and then greedier still, while investing nothing into the game or its players.
It just boggles my mind. I mean is this the same company actually working on Rift?
You would think the way there handling this game they have never worked on an MMO before...
And as for the game itself well IMO it wasn't all that anyway, people seem to make it out be the messiah just because it has some sandbox elements. But it was also so Korean that it lost it's appeal quickly.....
I feel bad for those that paid for AA, they have nothing to lose now, which has turned them into the major fanboi's that go around down-voting every post on reddit and trashing anyone that has any negative to say. I wouldnt doubt someone was being paid to do this purposely.
I got into beta 1, first clue that the labor system dictates how much time you have to spend in AA to accomplish anything significant. When I looked at the crafting system (I love crafting) I couldnt believe how LP's tied into it. Even tho I stayed a while, I wrote a negative review about this and promptly was banned from the forums and not invited back for the 2nd beta. I was surprised at this reaction, after the uninstall, I never looked back.
