ArcheAge: Scott Hartsman Responds to APEX "Dupe"

Trion's CEO Scott Hartsman has issued an official response to the allegation that there is a duplication bug for APEX currency. APEX is purchased with real world dollars and, when opened, yields in-game credits. Players have alleged that this is an issue that has been in the game since alpha.
"There isn't a dupe bug. There were some instances where APEX could be used to yield more credits than one was supposed to get. Our investigation showed that this affected a relatively small number of people. We've temporarily paused their accounts and we're doing a targeted cleanup on them right now, then releasing them.
People who were found to have intentionally abused it appear to be around a dozen globally, and they'll see more serious actions taken against their account."

Of course you do, nobody expected anything else. Ban legit players first, unban the exploiters second is a tradition at Trion's.
And btw: In recent years Hartsmann has been about as trustworthy as Baghdad Bob.
Not to be like that but how do you suggest that they stop botters and spammers..? Because i am sure that game developers all over the world are curious to know your secret.
But seriously, you think it is abad thing that they strike down at a exploit that targ4ets the relation between real world and game economy... Because that is... you know... yeah.. you know.
I sometimes wonder if it is raw talent or if someone like you actually practise... Because you got some special skills.

I can't help but LoL at this response. 12 people globally have exploited APEX yet it's all over the web, forums, and you tube... riiiight!
From day one this company has been shady with this game. From charging $150 to get alpha access, to multiple $150 packs being mysteriously gifted from people's credit cards, to extra charges being made when you use the cash shop, etc.
This company never ceases to amaze or disappoint me... lol

With all this mishandling of AA I still cannot understand how players would still give money to Trion. I don't care how good a game is, when you have this much problem from the publisher you should probably just walk away and stop supporting bad decisions. I've put a stop to publishers like EA, Ubisoft and a few others. Would I love to play some of their games? Sure would, but I'm not going to support poor decisions.

Trion proudly tell us that AA has over 2 million registered accounts, yet only 12 people intentionally abused the APEX glitch !
What's next ?
Only 18 people intentionally abused the Racy lockbox glitch ?
Only 7 people globally used the land hack exploit, and there were only 23 bots globally ?
ArcheAge actually seems to have the most honest and law-abiding population of any MMO currently running...

There isn't a Dupe bug ...BUT some have got more than they were supposed to and we don't know how or why but we are investigating,suspended accounts and cleaning it up.
That sure sounds to me like a Dupe bug,like 100% a bug,well the term "bug" is always misused,it is a coding error.If the code was written properly,this would not be happening,as simple as that.

Well he is right about one thing, it wasn't really a dupe. It was far worse. Basically all you had to do was get one apex chip and you could literally get as many credits as you wanted by zoning as soon as you clicked it. I got hundreds of thousands of free credits doing this. I bought many months of patron status and hundreds of lp pots. My account was banned for 24 hours, but honestly even if it gets perma banned the damage is already done. I know for a fact many people got even more free stuff than I did using multiple accounts.
I was already on my way out of this shit game anyway so I kind of hope my ban is permanent and I'm glad if my abuse highlighted what a complete shitfest this game is. Trion is a garbage company cash grabbing off a poorly designed game they didn't even make. I hope to see them go under as soon as possible. RIP Trion.

It should be, do you know how bad korean AA f2p model is? Korean f2p model :-
1. To get plot must buy cash shop item, depending on the size of plot number of item varies
2. No LP regen, must by cash shop pots or craft a long CD consumable that returns very small amount of LP
3. Drop rate of archeum is negligible, must by booster item from cash shop
4. Those Hasla tokens drop drop with very low amount, must buy booster from cash shop
And all kind of crap you can imagine. Compared to that Trion's AA f2p model is like heaven. Too bad suddenly their management went total bonkers, Mr. Hartsman really lowered his image to me with this message.

You must know little about him then...he was originally let go from Trion because of things like this and he has done it constantly since he returned.

this game is so dead. it was actually very promising but totally ruined by trion/AA missmangement
its a hidden casina (RNG for Money) and heavy pay to win (buy rumbling tress for archeum to craft endgame gear), or buy crystals for higher chances for endgame items.
Well then you can use it to oneshot every non whale
Meanwhile I get wrecked in my mostly complete gha scrub set in 2 hits by guys with P2W weapons.

The game isn't pay to win! Anyone can get the best gear if they just play for 8+ hours a day for the next 2 years!
