Ya because its the OP that is selling 2500 ships. No its CIG who has turn it into skepticism.

1) No one is holding a gun to anyone's head to buy such a ship (or any of the other ships)
2) You also forgot to mention the following thing:
"Javelins will be sold stripped of military hardware, and it will be a new starting challenge for players to work together with their organizations to outfit them."
So ... the 2500 bucks buys you a hull ... so much for the "HUGE" advantage ....
3) CIG especially addressed the question of buying additional ships in this anniversary post:
"Do I Need to Buy Another Ship?
NO! Remember: we are offering these pledge ships to help fund Star Citizen’s development and because of player demand. All of these ships will be available for in-game credits in the final universe, and they are not required to start the game. The design goal is to make additional ships available that give players a different experience rather than a particular advantage when the persistent universe launches. Every sale supports expanding Star Citizen’s overall development, but none are required to gain full enjoyment from the game."
Like I said in another thread, Star Citizen is the ultimate in Business Whaling models. While other F2P companies produce shovelware terrible games that psychologically cater to the addicted to get them to spend, CIG have found ways to get the whales to pony up without even having a game in the first place.
I am simply amazed by the way of the mmo evolution. If someone would tell me 5-7 years ago to even think about spending my money on unfinished product I would leave that without comment or commented it in some sort bad way... But now all that hype phenomena just making wonders. It opened whole unknown niche that can give seroius income. In these days if there is demand then we can expect overgrown stock shortly after. SC devs striked perfectly. I don't think there was distribution model such as this in mmo history.

Kickstarter was the game changer here.
And Star Citizen is the most successful of these campaigns.
Personally i like to see so much information about the development of a game - the ups and downs, the emotions, even the delays, the discussions, the economic aspects behind it.
I have this image of some poor guy in Africa hearing about people in the west spending more money than he makes in a year on an imaginary spaceship in a video game which doesn't actually exist...How crazy it must seem.

Short answer: end of 2016 for feature complete game including persistent universe and "Squadron 42" solo game part 1-4.

Of course you could also look at Freelancer, which was nearly five years late. Or Strike Commander that was years late and wasted something like a million man hours of work that was not useable in the finished project.
There are groups that think since Roberts has gotten all this money with no one to ride herd on him, he will produce great stuff sooner. Others feel that will only cause him to overextend and be even more delayed than in the past. We'll see.....
Though I think the PR and marketing skills shown in this whole endeavor are pretty astounding.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing). German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century. Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now). I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things). In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while. If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.
Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this. If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own. Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis. Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.
Beside buying caps and expensive ships the goons will manage to do s...t in SC because instance is maxed at 60-70. We all know that in eve goons bringed hundreds.
ah I see our favourite flame baiting thread creator posing as "fan" is back, stirring the pot because of high tier pledge rewards of a crowdfunding project
Have no fear this ship will worth every penny you spend, cig will make sure that the ship power will reflect the amount spent, like they did with redemer.
And do what to the thousands of people that are NOT flagged for PVP?
Even the ones that ARE flagged will be able to have their own friends listed to come in to help if needed. SO since we are talking small server caps to instances...Goons will be evenly matched or blocked from attacking at all...
They can talk a good game. That is about all. They can control their own instances i guess... Whoop?
Though I think the PR and marketing skills shown in this whole endeavor are pretty astounding.
I totally disagree. It is a terrible marketing that brings quick/easy money but also bring terrible consequences in the medium/long term, as more they approach to the "release" perception, continuous delay, continuous new break of promises and making all their earlier statements just falling into the bait and switch scenario.
It's "astounding" if their interest is just to make money and leave quickly, since in the way that they are doing they rep are going to be destroyed. But if the objective is really to make a starter company to grow and to keep itself in the medium/long term, it's aterrible strategy, because they won't survive with a bad rep.
And their level of participation is actually pathetic. They are not really growing on that. On keeping people tied, despite their effort. A wrong one, because they are fan-oriented instead customer-oriented, creating a scenario/environment that is actually disgusting for those that are not really their fans, with more potential to keep people away than made more sticking together and been "endoctrinated" to accept "no compromise".
Easy money can always be made by whatever good speecher. The difficult part is to transform the speech on reality and do not contradict yourself with the reality, or with some future speech. In that part, they fail terribly and its easy to see if you pay attention.
Those fanboys will ignore anything... but its not really "astounding" to convince fanboys to stay, since they never act as customer, more like beggars... so there is not really a merit here... The merit would be if they really grow in numbers of true participants, players, forum visitors, webcast watchers, and as conseqeunce, ending spending more money been close to their advertising offers... but that is not happening.
It's the worst marketing strategy that I ever seen. They are basically destroying itself by following the approach and pushing even more. They are a starter company, targeting a game for a niche. And are screwing with the majority of this niche to praise a few whales.
It can't and won't end well. Sorry if I appear arrogant in such statement but obvious is obvious.
I have the serious impression that the people involved on this project, if really having the legit interest to keep themselves in the long term, to grow and 'to send a message to the publisher" etc etc. is suffering of a serious blindness caused by what could be called Celebrity Complex (usual with people involved for too long with Holywood... what a coincidence... CR just spent 10 years there, as well as his VP of Marketing, that spent basically his entire life as a model/actress). One can have one or two arguments to explain why they are so fan-oriented and not client-focused.
How is terible marketing making 62+ Mil by selling ships ?

So basically what you [mod edit] are saying is:
Bah Bah, after 1.5 years they are not sticking to their first claims word by word.
And now comes reality:
This is a different, much huger game than 1.5 years ago, when no one could forsee that Star Citizen will become so large and successful.
Plans have changed, scope has changed, number of interested backers has changed ....
So CIG is offering a CHEAP way to join the fun ? 20 $ .... HELL YEAH ! Good idea IMHO.
Have fun

I would think about paying $10,000 for a Space Dragon.
Just putting that out there.

Fear not! We'll have a complete post detailing our plans for the Javelin later in the week. It's a pretty cool ship, regardless of loadout at launch.

Anyway, see you all in E:D
I am pretty sure that gons bought lots of capitals and the trolling may be from their side.
Why is it that this game manages to sound worse with every passing thread?
I'm baffled that thing maintains one of the site's highest hype ratings.
