All I see are a bunch of people whining because they don't understand siege mechanics and waited too long to declare.
While the website really should have mentioned that the declaration period was only 46 hours, the actual declaration period was listed in-game, and there was plenty of time to find out about it.
Big procrastination fail there. Despite that, I imagine a lot of people will quit over this anyways. So it's a win-win situation for everyone!
This forum thread is probably more relevant to the actual state of sieges.
http://forums.archeagegame.com/showthread.php?127911-Siege-changes-and-updates-nicely-done-pricks.
Apparently there was a stealth patch that updated/changed a lot of the siege mechanics, making it very difficult for the sieging players to win (or impossible? Hell if I know. I don't play this game anymore. Just here to watch the train wreck)
I'm curious if it seems sieges really are too easy for the defenders and too hard for the attackers. If so, that's just another example of "strong get stronger" that seems to permeate into so many competitive MMORPGs these days.
Objectively speaking, like the other example, whether or not this is Archeage's fault, people are probably going to quit over this anyways. It's no fun spending all that time and resources hoping to win only to discover when push comes to shove that you never had a chance in the first place.
EDIT: Hmm, yea, "impossible" seems like it. People couldn't even put a significant dent into the outer walls, let alone get anywhere near the gooey center.
Yea, just read that myself. Well, that's swell of them. Like I said, even if it was ultimately the players' fault, the website could have been more clear on the matter. It's nice of Trion to realize that. This nice sort of thing will make those players NOT quit and keep playing. Sucks for them.
EDIT: ...or maybe they're still mad anyways, judging by the official forums. In part because the defenders get to keep their castles for longer and thus get more gold from that. Of course, if they were paying attention, they'd realize that even if they successfully declared the siege, they wouldn't have won anyways due to other issues. Ah, this train just keeps jumping out of one frying pan and into another fire. ...or sometimes it jumps into the fire and drags the frying pan with it.
I guess discussions on the sieges themselves (the ones that took place) should go to the other thread that was started.
Here is a person who claims it is Trion's issue, it's well written:

What can i do (im one of the players mentioned in your post), even with all the issues current around AA theres nothing better on the market atm.
I agree the game has its faults, but it doesn't mean the players are stupid. Everyone has their own subjective opinion as to what MMO is the best, and what they want to play.
AA is a fun game, hopefully they fix most of it's issues before the entire playerbase gets sick of them.
It sure worked fine! Not a single castle was successfully sieged with wals that had 1.2mill hp and each attack doing 1 hp of damage. Some defenders stopped defending and just made fun of the attackers once they realized the walls were unbreakable. Jumped the white knight gun there a bit didnt you??? LOL
Trion has made every mistake they could. You really have to work hard to do what they have done.
Wait they're pretty much invulnerable (they're not supposed to be) yet it's not a broken mechanic? YOu just love splitting hairs don't you?

If anything, the ones who weren't able to siege because they procrastinated got lucky. They're only out the cost of the scroll and they got refunded that, anyways.
The ones who DID get to siege, only to watch their weeks of preparation and gold that went into all those consummables and siege weapons be used up for an ultimately futile cause, are now out all of those costs and probably had to suffer one of the most demoralizing experiences they've ever had in an MMORPG.
Probably would be even worse if they ever fully realized just how ludicrous sieges are. They were all so proud of their five siege weapons but apparently in Korea and Russia, a successful siege requires like, fifty, and no one even bothers because it's not worth the cost of the siege weapons.
Spend weeks upon weeks grinding and crafting out siege weapons and consummables and gold to buy the scroll and everything else so you can blow it all on 1.5 hours of gameplay against guys who just have to sit on their peace fund collections, or... go play League of Legends and get into a PvP match in 1 minute or less? No wonder why I can't get anyone into the MMORPG genre these days.
You know, you really aren't helping your cause. Assuming your voice actually reached the ear of a decision maker, your influence would only serve to perpetuate the issues that are causing players to leave.
White knighting at its best?
LOL This is not Trion or XL Games fault, the guild messed up.
XLs issue - correction.
Trion has nothing to do with any of the game mechanics and code - this is all 100% XL
Wut ? nothing to do with Trion ? realy ?
Test server to test patches ?
Alpha server testing ?
If i was Trion would i let me brands name burn down in a fire within 60 days ?
Sorry Kano but Trion is as much at faulth as XLGames.
They dont test for shit and are responsible for the tons of hacks that made it into their game.
They are responsible for the apex dupes and RNG box exploits.
Rule #1 in mmo's
Test Test Test Test Test Test Test and more tests.
Trion is busy with a massive cash grab and they seem to not give a flying fuck about the game.
Alpha was tons of fun, release is but a shadow of how fun Alpha was.
This is not XLGames faulth, but Trion standing there like a tard looking how a super dope mmo getting burned down within 2 months worth of time.
2 million people played it and now it looks like not even 200k people left playing.
Trion and their cash shop and greed made sure this mmo will never flourish again.
