It seems that we need only 35mil in order to be able to have the game finished. Check latest ship sale and contribute a bit more.
If you have a hornet be sure to buy the superhornet upgrade to be able to have auroras for any time.

You DO know that this magazine article was a canard, do you ?
Published by an overeager journalist, corrected by Chris Roberts.
Step 2 in the "fake fan" routine ?

Quote: “We’ll probably invest $100 million of our own, and we’ve raised $59 million through crowdfunding so far."
So 100 mil are required to finish.
Even CIG does not denny the 100 mil number

mmorpg junkie since 1999
So what they are saying is:
Great guys that you have donated 60+ MILLION to us but for the game to be really good I need you to donate another 40 MILLION
And ofcourse the fanatical army of fanboys will do it and this game will probably go down into the history into how to dupe a few thousands "whales" into paying your development cost and if it fails, well you would have risked nothing in it. Basically a zero risk project with the potential to make millions. Brilliant!
Good grief...
My gaming blog
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
F2P games and the concept of selling an Idea instead of an actual product are two things killing games for me. All developers have to do is talk about a game they want to make to accrue actual $. They don't have to provide anything other than a promise. It has been said, but this is bad for the consumers.
Make them impress us and take risks by developing amazing games. Instead of meeting their "goals" before the game even goes into Beta. I beg you, do not kickstart, pledge, or participate in any form of early access.
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile
Nope, that is not what they are saying.
In 2012, Chris Roberts said he will need approx. 25-30 M$ to make the game. He expected 5 M$ from Kickstarter and hoped to get the rest from investors.
Since then the crowdfunding game was so successful, that the scope of the project was extended/enlarged. Chris Roberts gave a revised estimate of approx. 50 M$ (due to additional stretch goal features). That is what is NEEDED.
Any additional money WILL go into development, as promised. But thats bonus money for polishing, extra testing, extra mocap&audio recording, extra missions, extra AI ... and some reserve to keep the serves of the Persistent Universe running for a few years.
What Chris Roberts NEVER said is that he will NEED another 40 million.

Melted a Constellation and Hornet Ghost and with a little extra I was able to pick up the Retaliator and I also picked up the FC7-M SuperHornet. Now I just need the Deep Space Fighter and I will have the ships I want for launch. Maybe I'll buy another ship just for the folks here that seem to have issues with people buying pixels. The game will succeed because of the whales and the people that simply pay $20-45 like they would any other game out there. I have already had tons of fun playing the Arena Commander, which is already better than completed games like Star Conflict, had more fun playing it than Eve or E:D. The FPS module looks to be as good or better than the plethora of arena style shooters that already inundate the market. So yea, game is already better than many released games on the market and it's not even close to complete, WINNING!
Unlike many people I like to be positive and happy about life. I will leave the negativity and misery to people such as yourself. If I get 60% of what CR promised the game will be fine by me. How many people are currently playing has no bearing, it's alpha, 99% of the people won't be playing yet. I am still having fun regardless of the amount of people. I never have queue time issues which means things can only get better.
Even if you don't want to spend money to help start a game you should really learn to be more of a cup half full kind of person, you will enjoy your life so much more and won't be such a sad sack. I really feel pity for people that go through life with such heavy shoulders.
It is not the most expensive game ever. Not even remotely close. Are you people delusional?
This game is a perfect example of how toxic the gaming community can be.
Flamebait thread from a "fake fan" based on an incorrect game magazine article, which the OP already knew was incorrect (and which has already been officially corrected by Chris Roberts).
Purpose: negative propaganda and spreading misinformation.
Same goes for quoting old statements by Chris Roberts without mentioning that a lot has changed in the meantime (especially the overall scope of the game) and CIG has always been more than open on what they have changed, what they are doing and why there are delays (e.g. extra testing and bug-hunting needed).

yes i totaly agree. cant believe how much hype this game is, for what? and people keep paying and paying...its not that we had no bad releases lately..oh wait...(AC unity and many others). oh boy, this will be probably the biggest fail ever.
From Tezkat, user from SC forum (thats a pretty old post from July 2013):
"CR said during the livestream that, once the game goes live, they'll try to make it available through a variety of digital distribution channels, including Steam."
https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/comment/400372/#Comment_400372
So .. Chris Roberts is planning at least since mid 2013 to make it available on Steam (and other sites) when its done. But not as an Early Access game.
Which IMHO is a good idea, because Early Access games on Steam currently have a pretty bad reputation due to some recent scandals involving small (less than 10 people) indie developer teams.

This is not without reason. So far we have not seen any MMO make it though the funding to a released game. We have seen one funded project end up as drug money and another the Yog cast team started that was all smoke and no substance. Their game company was one guy that went MIA and 500k of funding just gone and no game. I sure hope this game works out for the community as its about time one did work out lol
MAGA
As Star Citizen is not an MMO its best compared to other crowdfunded games.
That it is not an MMO is even written in the FAQ on the WIKI :
http://starcitizen.wikia.com/wiki/Frequently_Asked_Questions
For comparison Wasteland 2 is an excellent example. Well received by gamers and media alike.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasteland_2
A very good game, selling well, with an 81 rating on Metacritic. Crowdfunded like SC. Project start was February 16, 2012. And like SC, it experienced some delays : "After the postponement of the original release date from October 2013, it was released on September 19, 2014."
So IMHO when it comes to Star Citzen: be patient, enjoy the "Making of .." and playtesting time and look forward to a great game, probably even better than Wasteland 2.
