Wow now people have found a way to go invunerable

GrailerGrailer Member UncommonPosts: 893

Im on clipper and we harpoon another clipper to attack enemy with trade pack and he just stands there looking goofy

But we attack and nothing happens keeps saying "Out of range"  But hes right there in front of us.

So I log in on my alt in red and talk to him a bit and find out later that all he does it Disconnect game using task manager and he gets INVULNERABILITY instantly  . Apparently they coded this to stop people from DCing on airships and falling to their deaths .

So now you cant even pirate people . Geez Ive almost had it .

Exactly what is someone "End Tasking"? This doesn't make any sense. If you end task the client, he's out of the game. You may be looking at an avatar, but the player is gone. Same goes for the network connection. He can end task it, but he's gone. Exactly what process can be killed while still allowing someone to play? As much as I am entertained by the drama surrounding this game, this one, I have a hard time believing. Unless you mean they can log force a DC which preserves thier stuff until they can log back in later.

It sounds like he dc's himself from the game and then quickly reconnects. Since the game thinks he just had a normal dc it rendered him invulnerable do to the whole airship thing.

A lot of games leave you in the game world for a minute or so in case there was an accidental disconnect.

Open PvP will create a situation where people find ways and means to cheat. Something normally meant to help players are exploited.

Pretty amazing this even works but yeah I can see how they messed up now.

I remember when I used to run trade packs on airship and due to lag sometimes you would Disconnect from server and logback in on the ground below dead minus your trade pack .

The trade pack would be at the location you disconnected but on the ground below .  IF someone didn't find it first.

So obviously people complained , and Trion must have asked XL Games to fix it so you get "God Mode" so when you log in you hit ground but didn't die .  Everyone was happy and forums didn't have QQ Dying to DC on Airships anymore.

However now it appears people are abusing it on ships on the ocean and disconnecting game on purpose to avoid dying to other players .

But if you DC on land your character can be killed because it takes 10+ seconds for your character to actually leave game.

That's what I mean by the avatar still being there, but the player is gone.

I am aware of some MMOs that were exploitable by overloading the player's CPU and memory that would cause the player's avatars to look like they are teleporting. But from what I understand that is as difficult to play through as it is to deal with from someone else's perspective.

I understand what you are saying. Maybe the guy had logged back in by the time OP switch and spoke to him? Idk.

    "Right, because pve nerds..."

I hope the irony isn't lost on people, here.

I make spreadsheets at work - I don't want to make them for the games I play.

Oh yeah this was later on , I have 2 characters    1 on west and one on east.

The guy logged back in probably about 10 mins later after we were long gone from the area .

Maybe it is intended that players can just disconnect to save themselves from dying in PvP ? Who knows .  but it sure is annoying that people are doing this to avoid PvP  in a PvP zone .

Unless they are doing a form of multi-client log ins where they have one client logged in and another sitting at the log in screen so the player can force a dc and quickly log back in before his avatar disappears.

I ear somewhere that is 2min when someone crash/dc, and imo should be at least 5min, most of the times 2min is not enouph to come back game. This is to help prevent players lose stuff when just random disconnect.

If you crash/dc with a farm wagon full of packs, when you come back to game your wagon is allready destroy it and the packs gone.

Ofc, people will use it to try avoid be killed in pvp (this method is not AA exclusive) but imo is better this way to those who just crash/disconnect.

Doing this by purpose only safe the pack on player back so its not a big deal, wanna see someone doing this with a full trade boat  image

i got banned from AA forums for posting

    the exact same thing .

What amazes me is players who duped APEX and got

1000s of credits etc were allowed back into game.

one could say they did me a huge favor tho right . Having

huge amount of fun in the new WOW expansion.

If Black Desert isnt pay2win ill play that . Any game which is

pay2win I will avoid like the plague in future.

    Well, technically he's right.

As long as there is a way to obtain in-game items/gold using real money - legally or illegally - the game is pay to win. Those with the biggest pocketbooks can buy their way to the top, even at the risk of getting caught.

Not really true.  In most MMOs, gold isn't translated into the best gear.  You still have to grind out dungeons and raids or pvp for it.

But the real issue is when you're paying them directly for gold, it just makes them want to develop more reasons for you to buy gold.

That's why i said items/gold. There are many sites that also sell equipment for real money. If people want the gear, they can get it with the right amount of cash.

Lots of games make the best gear bind-on-pickup. The only way to get it for real money is to buy the entire account along with it, which most people aren't willing to do or sell.  Sure, some are, so there is some pay-to-win, but it's not as widesperad.
