This is the saddest most overused line of bullshit on this site.

The myth lives on - Bill Murphy and the crew are swimming in Trion, SoE, Blizzard and League of Angel cash.....

    /facepalm

MMORPG has, in the past, given Trion a TON of exposure.  It is obvious Trion is a big time advertiser with MMORPG, sometimes in discrete ways (There was a fantastic column done on Rift by a freelance writer a few years ago, obviously something paid for by Trion).  There have been times where MMORPG has been Trion's lapdog, such as when they reported server closures and quickly withdrew it when Trion told them they were 'converting to trial servers for an upcoming promotion'.  Anyone can see that was a line of PR bullshit, but MMORPG made no commentary on it like they might for lesser advertised companies.

HOWEVER, MMORPG does not really post many negative news articles, and to be honest this really isnt news.  Blizzard had some major issues the other night and I dont see an article on that either.  Im sure part of this is because advertising is important, but i don't think any company gets special treatment here.  And i dont think MMORPG ever lies or embellishes to make advertisers happy, they may just let some minor things slide from time to time.  And in this case, its just not newsworthy.

This is kind of a big reason why I don't watch the local news or anything.  You can only take watching how many people got killed so much.  It wouldn't hurt to actually have some positive stories every once in a while.

I just assumed that on a MMORPG news site something as big as a massive unscheduled down time would at least warrant a mention.

MMORPG.com brings information about mmo's, but is not really  a news site. Journalism is not the thing here, most of the time.

It takes one to know one.

Anyways I quit this game for good ,  uprooted all my land , deleted character .

#1 Reason. The game engine is garbage .

I was playing WOW for a day and then went back to play AA , it was about that time I realised how bad the game engine is . It just felt really bad compared to WOW .

Now I thought yeah must be my computer right ? So I turned the settings down super low and I was getting easily 60 FPS ,  But it still felt like crap moving around etc .

Cant even run this game with SLI because everything on screen flickers not that it would matter . I got used to it being bad and when I played WOW which you must admit Blizzard got it right movement wise.

So yeah that's what pushed me over the edge in the end.

You're right wow engine runs better then last time i tested wow, and plus they must of spend over this 10 year around 1 billion on there engine to keep it up to date they have too wow not only game that have run on the same engine. Just wish D3 run better in some place but I can blame my AMD cpu maybe.

And for Arche age runs good for some other bad, for me it was not to bad, but was a bit buggy at times when I tested it not sure who to blame for this xlgame or crytek but oh well.

Because the last thing we need is another thread with petty, bickering douchebags complaining about the game...enough has been said. The quitters quit and the players play on.

...assuming that the company is competent enough to keep the servers running...

i guess most games would would be thankful to have that "handfull" of players. servers are packed full ^^

I'd highly disagree. If you were talking about the inflated que over the week, that was them messing with limits and such while trying to fix the connection issues. AA deffenatly lost more than 1/2 population of what it once was. A couple days after Auroria launch was the last day any NA servers legitimately had a occupancy status higher than just saying "Up".

Not weird to me.  I put this game on hold indefinitely for a while.  I may come back depending on if some friends want to try it but my issue was the apex prices inflating so highly.  Plus the client side based combat is hard on you if you have serious lag issues.

I doubt the apex price will be going down anytime soon but if people I asked to try this game before decide to try it I will give it another go.  I have a better internet connection now so combat should be a little better for me.

Kano is right, I'm sure MMORPG allows free advertising to everyone.   LOL

Just because you make a living from ads does not mean you have sold your integrity too.

Read this sites Defiance review - what happened there?

If you really believe this - you are accusing every writer here for being a crook essentially.

That's pretty mesased up - because its totally false.

Only the Sith deal in absolutes...  LOL

First your position is that this site does not make money from the ads and now your position is they do make money but they dont show any favoritism because that would mean every single writer is a crook.  Is it really out of the realm of possibilities to believe that Bill proposed doing a story about the outage and the owners of this site told him no and used  some excuse because they knew it would reduce revenue a bit?

I dont think this is what really happened but I also dont think everyone who makes money from this website is a saint.  I guarantee you that at one time or another a story was killed before going public due to its possible effect on advertising dollars.  But you continue to like in Fairy land where there are no crooks in the world, Trion is the best managed game company and Archeage is the greatest game in the world.  I would honestly join you there is I could.

I really enjoyed reading this post.:)
