Goblins vs. Gnomes Arrives in Arena Mode Today

Yesterday we mentioned that the 120+ card expansion for Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, Goblins vs. Gnomes, would be arriving on Monday, December 4. We weren't lying, but it turns out Blizzard Entertainment wasn't giving us the full story.

Today we received a bit of a surprise to find Goblins vs. Gnomes cards appearing in Arena games. That's right, if you want to check out some of the new cards, head into Arena and you'll see them popping up right alongside all the cards we've come to know and love. Don't have the 150 gold for an Arena run? No sweat. Anyone who logs in between today and Monday will get a free Arena run to give the new cards a test run. Already in the middle of an arena run and won't be done before Monday? No worries. When you log in you'll get a free Arena run to use later.

That's not all that showed up today, though. Spectator mode is also now a thing, so you can watch other people (who, in my case, are way better than me at Hearthstone) play.

Well most of the named good players already stream,i guess Spectator mode just gives another option.I guess eventually this might free people from having to use Twitch and to those using it as a job, they can quit giving Twitch half their donations.

I can't stand Arena so i'll have to wait and see the cards as i attain them.I like to be as much in control of my game as possible and the game already has a high rng factor,so for me Arena just lowers it even more to a randomness idea.

What baffles me even though i guess it shouldn't is that this has been from day 1, a TEAM sort of game with all the big names a part of a team and sponsorship yet Blizzard still has no team format built in.

The game also STILL favors he who plays more reaps the benefits of both rank and notoriety. There should be formats for random players who don't want to commit  a JOB to playing this game and streaming 8-12 hrs a day or in many cases 24hr streams. There should be those tournaments for EVERY player to play in ,not just the very small niche boys club we keep seeing time after time.Sure we see the odd random soloist pop up from time to time, but guess what ,that player is playing 10 hrs a day,we don't all want to or could we commit that much time.

It seriously is VERY easy for Blizzard to make this a better game for community outside the small niche group, get the community out of the chat rooms and out of the streams and into the tournaments. Those tournies can only hold at most we see 32 players,so it is ALWAYS going to be invited boys club players, that is not the way to build a solid game around community.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Kind of pissed they did this.  Had a nice mage deck and was looking forward to it over the weekend.   So much for that.

This is just one of many mistakes Blizzard continues to make.
