So they won't put in a basic feature that every good social MMO has had, where you get bonus xp for actually grouping and interacting with the people around you?
That just shows that whatever good designers they had aren't in control anymore. MMos with group xp bonuses are actually social in pvE, whereas TESO is just singleplayer all the way.
Leveling in ESO is too fast anyway imo and until VR I had always problems with quests going green and grey. Maybe you should stop trolling, eh? If ESO has problems (of course it has like any other MMO) then missing group exp bonus isn't one of them.
i assume there will always be more pc players than console players? or might it be worth getting it on console when it comes out (and you got a good pc)? at least they dont have bots on the console (but i heard there arent any anymore on pc either)
I am in the same boat as the OP... While I did re-sub, my question is more or less about progression as I am currently VR9.
I haven't stepped foot into Craglorn yet as I am (despite the general consensus) actually enjoying <slowly> plodding through the various stories and quests from the other lands before I hit Craglorn.
I know Max rank is 14, and that eventually VR's will be eliminated. However Am I just wasting potential XP for the Champ system by progressing through the content or will that VR xp be somehow converted into champ XP when that particular patch hits...
Also what happens to gear? If you have a VR14 item, and the max lvl is converted to 50, do they just be come really powerful lvl 50 items or are they scaled down?
I tried finding this information by way of search but have not found any answers, if anyone has some insight here it would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, designing the game to have public dungeons, and large openworld zones for people to cooperate in, but no one actually socializing or interacting or forming friendships (which is the leading factor to player retention in an MMO), isn't a problem? And I'M the one trolling?

Maybe the problem is people then if they don't communicate? ESO doesn't prevent people playing together and communicating. I can agree though that ESO doesn't particularly support the idea behind MMORPG as such but it's the general problem of the whole genre over the last 5+ years imo.
Maybe it's me, but it feels like ESO is a "wait til next patch and give it another try game". The issue from the start was the fact that they tried to make too much of an open ended skill system while making a themepark MMO. The two mix like oil and water. They really need to have builds that have a job they need to do, rather than the GW2 style "do whatever and hope it falls...while rolling like a circus clown".
I really love the game itself, but the way they built classes and dungeons really killed it for me. Completely game breaking. I'll never understand why Devs think the trinity system isn't a staple and necessity of MMO's
As the title states, should i return now or wait til 1.6? I can't remember what veteran rank I am but think around 7. Is it still the same craglorn group zerg running around killing the same bosses over and over? Also, from what i have been told once the console version of the game releases you can port your char. over to the console version, is that true?
If you think it's worth resubbing now please explain why, thanks!
Replay Skyrim a bit then try to come back to TESO and realize how beyond saving this game is.

This is one of the weakest excuses out there. It's a very well known function of game design, that the evironment shapes the players, and which players are attracted to a game. It's called social engineering. The early MMO pioneers understood how this work, and often write/do conferences about it.
There's a reason in the past MMOs grew steadily for years, and why now they peak in the first month and collapse. ONE of the reasons is lack of social glue, as the game mechanics outright punish you for being social most of the time.
In games like LotRO or TESO, it is SLOWER and HARDER and you get LESS REWARD for trying to group with people. In GW2, there's no benefit to grouping, people just kind of swarm something without saying a word, and split off on their own.
Meanwhile, games that have even slight social engineering, have the opposite issue. In TESO beta, when group xp was still turned on, everyone grouped together and talked a lot, and I made friends just with randos for the first time in YEARS in an MMO.
Then they turned group xp off because people were ignoring their shitty but expensive quest content, and everyone stopped grouping except for instanced group steps once in a blue moon.
But no, really, try to tell me it's all the people's fault and that socializing is a bad feature.
They have added daily pledges and allowed the dungeons to scale to your level. These two changes alone have drastically increased the utility of grouping. There are also the 4 and 12 man events, and craglorn is very much a group zone. There is also PvP.
Now, in the 1-50 zones, it is true that questing is aimed at single player play. I don't like it much either, but this is *clearly* and *overwhelmingly* the way that people want to play. There are tons of complaints about "forced grouping" because people can't do everything in this game solo. However, with the champion system there is effectively no demand to do the vet levels on each character - which means that the effective length of that questing component. Remember also that you don't need to level alts past 50 to get access to champion points, making the new approach very alt-friendly.
The current play definitely does favor co-operation with other players (world bosses, dolmens, and so on), so it's not actively counter-productive a la LOTRO.
Wait. LFG not working , PVP lag, combat unresponsiveness and their current focus on cosoles is what we have now. Among all other bugs and stupid design decisions (UI).

^^ I solo the bosses on a lvl 39 nightblade bow/dd build - if you know what you are doing with skills solo is perfectly fine.....
Of course if you chose the wrong tools to level pve then you will fail and need group.
p.s regarding the right tools for the job, I can make it so the boss does not even have time to move or get a shot of any combat move off at all, then he dies. Try not to give information as a cert if you are unaware of the possibilities with the game.

^^ wtf is that rubbish lol - unresponsiveness from issues and combat etc, I dont have neither of that. Where did you come from? some struggling mmo somewhere?

No. I come from MMOs where when you press a button an action DOES happen. Not like in ESO when it might happen. Or it might not.

Meaning you lack the skill to keep your crosshair exactly on the target...... Not having the target in your crosshair is the reason of skill activation not working.... I.e. You can not use the skill because you have no target for a targetted attack..
Simple as that

Yes, ESO isn't a tab targeting system. The person who doesn't realize that this is the case should probably have asked some questions in game or in forum; there is no shame in not getting things like that when you go on assumptions. I played the first month of EQ with my graphics settings wrong; I didn't see distant mobs and couldn't figure out why I kept getting swarmed by invisible critters...
I'm also debating whether to return or not, when the game launched I didn't really have a chance to get very far (due to real life constraints). So from a new players point of view, would you recommend starting now or waiting?
Also, does anyone know when will 1.6 be coming out? I heard rumors about January but then I also remember someone saying it will be going on the test server in January.
seems to be alot of people returning,I am thinking of it too,I miss the game, and i have been following the progress of this game since i left,Latest updates really makes me want to return, but iam going to wait for 1.6 or later *want the veteran ranks to be gone)

I would. I just came back myself and I love the game. For whatever reason, I got to level 30ish and real life stuff came up. I just couldn't force myself to log in anymore (was too busy) and cancelled my subscription. I'm proud to support a developer who listens to the community this much. I need a bit of a head start anyway to get ready for 1.6.
Happy to be back and now have the free time. You sound like you are in the same boat as me. Liked the game and got busy.

Try joining a guild if you're not in one and have time for that. A good guild can completely change the experience in any game.
I'm on a little break, too much going on, but definitely coming back at 1.6 if not before.
Its hard to find good guilds, most of them are merchant guilds, with only one goal, making the guildleaders rich ( ingame)
as others have stated, the social part of the game is missing... They need to give guilds reasons to socialise

I'm still hoping for more of a reason to RVR. .......still have my head stuck on DAOC heh.

Its expected to hit PTS during mid-January and then a few weeks untill it makes it to live.
Most given ETAs talk about later January or early February.
